76 sounds a whole lot better than 90. Keep thinking cool weather everyone.
And whoever has been praying for sunshine; please stop!
I think I will still try to get a new warm weather doublet started for the PP, just in case. Worst is that he wears his coat, with his new trim, nad I haul out my cloak for tail gate (Yes I'm cold natured :) )
And I agree Donna, 76 is WAY better than 90! One site is telling me high of 72, another 79, but some clouds. All I care is that it is NOT wet, and it is NOT 85+ degrees!
Well if nothing else the rain should've knocked down some of the dust.
And from a guy's viewpoint! The hotter the weather the less garb (period) worn! ;D
I had several students tell me today that they are coming on the 16th and 17th; some are going with family and one group is car pooling together!! I'm hoping they will let me take them to Knighting Ceremony lol!!! Can't wait to go back, although I hope it is not as hot. My sunburn from Saturday is pretty bad (Sunday I broke down and periodically applied sunscreen).
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71.
Can't miss that kind of weekend. We have already decided that we'll be there next Saturday for sure!
Lord Jacob gets to join Master Dorian and I at fair this weekend. :) Sat he does not go into work till 5pm so he will be there till about 3:30pm and Sunday he has the day off so He will be there all day ;D
Happy for the cool weather :D
I'll be there with mimosas ! ! !
If we leave at 3 a.m., we can be there in time for tailgate! For cooler temps, you just don't know how tempting that is!
Hopefully the 3rd weekend will be reasonable, hit rain last year.
I need to win the lottery ASAP, cause I wanna go baaaaaaaaaaack!!!!! *sniffles*
Woo hoo for cooler temps! Merlin, come on over! Tink, go buy a ticket quick! We will think happy winning thoughts for you! :-*
Sound like the weather will a little more comfortable this coming weekend. We should be there both days. Need to find something nice for the Duchess as Sunday is our anniversary. She did see lots of nice sparkly things last weekend.
Huzzah for cooler temps! :)
I'll be out drumming for Belly Dance Treasures on Saturday, so hopefully I can come to the tailgate for a few minutes...I have to be at the boothe by about 9:40 to help set things up.
However, the BEST part of this weekend will be the fact that my older brother & his wife are coming down for the weekend, meeting us there Saturday! And yes, it is their first time to any Ren faire, so play nice ;)
It's an iffy one for me this weekend, had a bit of a big blow yesterday due to some complications with roommates but it's causing some change in future plans in mundania; I will be moving home with my parents at the end of May. I could really use the escape.
If I do go, it'll be late Saturday. If not, maybe next weekend for me.

We'll offer you our felicitations in person on Saturday.

Actually, the 23 & 24th look even better temperature-wise, but it sure can change over time. We are sorely tempted to make another trip, though! Time will tell!
DonaCatalina- That is good to know about the ale tasting! More adjusting to do to my schedule!!! I'm guessing it is a come and go type thing- which would probably be easier to work in for me.
On another note- I am really excited about this weekend. At first, it was going to be me and 2 friends- both of whom had been to fair before. Then one invited another...so I said- hey, the more the merrier. Long story short...this continued and know there are going to be me, the original 2, plus 4 1/2 more. Some of these have been to fair before- other have not. So, I have gone to great efforts to explain my rules of fair to them :)
1- we are there for opening canon. 2- we stay until closing. 3- what happens at fair, stays at fair. And 4- it's my birthday weekend, so I am allowed to randomly make crazy rules that they have to obey muahhaha...
The forecast is pretty solid for great weather this weekend. We'll be there Saturday and/or Sunday.
Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 76. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48.
Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76.
Ryk, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you last weekend...I don't think, anyway (at least that's what the wife accuses me of—not thinking).
To Dona: OooooOOOOooo Ale Tasting. Doesn't look like it's a "buy tix in advance" thing but I would definitely like to check it out! We will see if my memory keeps up with it!
To Merlin: April 24/25 <...come to Scarby, come to Scarby, come to Scarby...> No I didn't say a word, I think the wind and trees and all that nature stuff that you wizards seem to like is talking to you! ;)
Squee! It's FAIRE!
Looks like it may be cool enough to wear steel this weekend. I would take it off after parade though.
I heard mentioned in one of the boothes that this weekend is Steampunk Invasion. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?
I beleive it is. One of my fellow Guards-woman is a steamypunk, and sent me a FB invite. Trying to decide if it's worth modifying RG garb to the theme...
Hoping, sooooo hoping to be there with everyone 23-24th. Homer is on standby and our bags are still packed. ;) :D
Woooohooooo, another magikal weekend away from the muggles. Heavenly. ;)
Al the steampunk invasion is I do believe this weekend.
Now see what you started, Kett? You even have Nim posting! ;D
She drank the kool aide this weekend is now a member of our happy world. ;D ;D ;D
It also means you have to 'behave' youself now that she is on here too.
behave, not a chance. ;D

I want to sport my new Bluebonnet kilt!

:-* :-*
It looks like we'll have the daughter along this weekend...and possibly my sister.
Should be a stellar weekend. The grandson will be joining us this weekend. Hope everyone makes it to faire. See you there.
49 tonight!
bring your gloves and cloaks everyone! ;D
Will be out this weekend, but probably in street clothes all weekend as I seem to have slightly popped a rib / pulled a muscle on my right side and being in a bodice is NOT a comfortable thing. I may try on my gypsy tonight to see if that hurts and if not, wear her. But even if I do that, I'll bring clothes to change into just in case it starts bothering me.
That's okay, though, as I don't take photos in costume, so if I'm in street clothes I can get some shots.
(Speaking of photos, still working on the over 1000 shots I took of Costume Parade and Opening Gate rehearsal from FoF day.)
Hey guys, I know it sounds silly , but make sure you when you talk to someone who you know from here, make sure you introduce yourself. This past weekend I had 4 people come up to me, and talk but they never said who they were on here. I know we don't always look like our avatars, but I would like to know who you are so I can put a face with a name. :)

That's good advise.
We have decided for sure that we are coming on Saturday only this weekend, will be there for opening gate. We have at least two of our complimentary FOF tickets left and may have all four. Write me back in here or email me at rickwilsonsd@yahoo.com if you might be able to use them. I'm sure they'll go fast so if you don't hear from me, then just assume they are gone. Oh, and they are still free. See you all Saturday, sounds like a wonderful weather day.

I am soooo ready for tomorrow!! My gang and I will be there for opening canon and closing canon both days this weekend.
I feel like the lady in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic- in the scene where all she hears/says is "scarf"....I've been that way this week, but it's been "fair"....

My sister bowed out so we will have 1 free pass left also. They are no good after this weekend, so please encourage someone you know to make use of them.
Donna...I could use one for Sunday.
Also...the wind should die down so double kilt pins wont be necessary. (hopefully)
We've used up 3 but do have one left. We'll be there just before opening gate.
Kilt...check
Sporran... check
Balmoral ... check
Ren Shirt .... check
Mimosas...check
wad of cash .... check
I'M OFF ! ! ! See ya in the FOF parking
Sure your checks won't bounce? ;)

You should be on the road.... don't tell me you aren't coming!
Merlin - did you march proudly today brother?
The Battle of Culloden - 16 April 1746.
Great day today except for 2 things:
-I think the 13YO is going to deem himself 'too cool' for Faire.I think we may forgo his FoF pass next year.
-Said 13YOs allergies got totally out of control while we were there so we had to leave a bit earlier than planned. His eyes looked terrible & he was snotting all over the place.

Actually, a water wagon usually DOES go through before the faire opens. :) That tells you how bad the dust is out there!

I just read on Facebook that there was a bad wreck around Scarby. Anybody with info on that?

This morning, right around 10 AM cannon, there was an accident which, according to friends stuck in the traffic involved a truck and a motorcycle. Careflight came in. That's really all I know.
There was also a bad accident at the 2PM joust. One of the ladies on the side with a horse in training had her horse spook and throw her. They took her out on a back-board (?) and had to call an ambulance on site. Word was, at least at the Iris & Rose show @ 3:30 that Lady Danny was "ok" which, considering the way her horse flung her, is quite a blessing. Hopefully someone will be able to keep us updated.
The backboard is a fairly standard precaution, and is not necessarily indicative of actual injury. It's to immobilize until they can determine for absolute certainty via x-ray or MRI that no spinal damage has occurred.
I hope the cyclist(s) are okay. A motorcycle and a truck is not an even match, and some of our FoF friends are bikers.
When we came in it looked like it was two trucks, there where two that where messed up looking so i thought it was them maybe it was them and a bike .
Great weekend with our grandkids! Also great to have met Merlin before opening (the Scots did march magnificently). And we saw you Ladykat and your group from a ways over (love the baby's garb). Grandkids favorite - Adam Crack, we had to see his show twice.
I managed to come down yesterday for a few hours after the Japanese Festival at the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth and it was quite wonderful, though...walking in gate at around 2 or so was very very odd for me (since I'm usually chomping at the bit if my crew and I do not arrive earlier than 8:15).
Also, Danni, a dear friend of mine and the lady rider that was thrown today is doing alright, just a lot of pain She dislocated her hip but they managed to pop it back in on the ambulance ride back, as far as we know that was the extent of the damage.
I had a great time. Thanks to everyone for helping me celebrate my 30th in style LOL! Merlin, Dona, you're my awesomeness heroes :D
