Title: The Carnac Stones
Post by: DonaCatalina on April 13, 2011, 04:29:37 PM
Everyone has heard of Stonehenge, but few know the Carnac Stones.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnac_stones) These are 3,000 megalithic stones arranged in perfect lines over a distance of 12 kilometers on the coast of Brittany in the North-West of France. Mythology surrounding the stones says that each stone is a soldier in a Roman legion that Merlin the Wizard turned in to stone. Scientific attempts at an explanation suggests that the stones are most likely an elaborate earthquake detector. The identity of the Neolithic people who built them is unknown.

If you scroll down to the end of the wiki article under online maps, you will see megaliths throughout Europe.

Very fascinating, Dona Catalina!

I had heard of the Carnac Stones, but had never looked up anything about them. That is indeed some fascinating information. ...and if it makes you feel any safer, I had nothing to do with it, despite the legend.

You know, I don't know quite what to think about The Carnac stones or any of the amazing stone works that are found all over the world from ancient times. It's easy..and much fun :) to imagine all the wonderful possibilities. Whether for astrological reasons or to set a power grid or perhaps they rreally did posess some magic we've lost, I do think they were placed by people with a much more intimate relationship with our planet than we have today.

Can you imagine the manpower it took to move all those?
They cover a lot of ground.
I'm glad Sherwood has their own stones sort of in homage to these types of things.

It would be interesting to know why these where contructed. Sadly, beyond theories, we will never know.
