Title: Clan Hamilton at Scarborough?
Post by: Merlin the Elder on April 20, 2011, 07:49:13 AM
Due to the insufferable heat that Texas seems to bring to bear most trips down, like my "son" Merlin (the Younger), a.k.a. Scott the Scot, I am considering adding a persona—that of a Scot.

Most of my heritage is Prussian and Austrian, and one grand-parent and all great-grand-parents were from the old country.  But I have a streak of Hamilton in me. My great-great-grandmother was a teen sent to Europe from her home in Connecticut in order to separate her from a beau her parents did not approve of.  She met my great-great-grandfather in Austria, many years her senior, and married him.

I am curious as to whether or not the Clan Hamilton is represented at Scarborough, as I will not be available to come down for Highland Weekend to check for myself. Anyone on the forum a Hamilton?

Oh, now that IS interesting... since my own grandfather is a Hamilton (Edgar), descended from THE Hamiltons... and though we are not officially registered with the clan (at this moment), we are still entitled to wear the tartan.

Having said that... I have no idea whether or not clan Hamilton is there, although I do know that the other side of our family, clan Donald (of the Isles) (of which clan MacSpadden is a sept), certainly is.

It figures that we would be related...  :D

I need to try and trace back prior to Elizabeth Blumenthal, nee Hamilton and see where it ends up. It would be interesting to see if we do share some common blood at some point.

Well congrats!

And I'm sure you will learn, to your chagrin...you are no longer allowed to drink O'Douls...by law! (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3487/3882392427_f8f1ed5fe4_o.gif)

Arrgh! What is this and you with the O'Doul's? I never have, and never shall. One of these fine days I'll get you weaned off of that Bud Light you keep drinking.  ;D

My theory is that everyone is related to everyone and at some point your ancestors lived in South Carolina.
