Hey gang,
I know the last couple of years, folks have lamented after the fast that they missed this really cool day, so I thought I'd make a post about it well in advance. Now I have no inside info, but assuming things run as they have for... well, for many years to the best of my knowledge, there ought to be a Full Dress Rehearsal known as "Mock Faire Day" on the Thursday before the Faire opens (which would make it July 7th). Of course, if anybody with an inside track could confirm or correct that date, that would rock.
Anyway, this is the final chance for the actors to get their act together (ha ha) and run through their improv routines, their shows, their skits, etc. It's also a chance for we die-hard fans to help them out by coming in garb and interacting with them. They can practice their random encounters, have audience participants for their shows, and generally work off the jitters on a small, adoring audience before the "big day." It's a great chance to give a little back to the wonderful cast of the Bless the Mark Players, plus there's just something magical about walking the grounds when it's quiet.
It runs regular hours (it's operated as a full day) and there aren't any vendors or musicians, just the cast, so pack a lunch and come ready to be an awesome (if small) audience.
So there's your reminder. Assuming all's the same this year as it's been in the past, of course. I know I really loved going the last couple of years, and I'm planning to be there on July 7th if humanly possible.
Thanks for the heads up, Aaroncois! :)
Since the wife has to work opening weekend (Yes I am in morning and I have been threaten if I went without her) I wonder if we could get her boss to let her have the day off. I know I can get it off.
For the many years I have been going to faire, 28 plus.......I have never been to 'mock faire day'. I will have to make plans on going this year.
Sounds like fun! :)
giving the mirrors a workout early this year Irish? ;)
LMAO! :D
Moi? I am innocent! Innocent, I tell ya! :P
At Scarborough, they have a half-day "dress rehearsal" on which they invite the Friends of Faire to attend, and they feed us, and we basically have the shire to ourselves (no vendors open yet). We've done it three years running now (and we're traveling 700 miles R.T. for the privilege) and have had a wonderful time. Sometimes, it can be like watching an outtake reel! If you can, I encourage you to go!

ok. ty!
Just a reminder that, as far as I know, this is Thursday. If the weather's half-decent, my kids and I will be heading up in the morning and hanging out till around 3.
I'll probably be at the archery booth working on setup and check out of the weapons most of the day - but I'm not garbing.

Cool! The weather's looking good, so we should be there for sure. We'll try to stop over and say hi!
I may be there, but not in garb for the first part of the day as i will be working.
Hopefully i can stay the rest of the day and play.
Won't be there, both of us have to work. Weeellllll if I get a run to Rochester we could make a slight detour. So, if you see an ambulance pull up with the lights going think nothing of it, it will be just me. Best thing for the patient, a little touch of Warwick

Although Colorado (Larkspur) is our home faire, we have travelled over 1800 miles to make it to our favorite faire...Sterling. We were so excited to hear about mock-faire day which would give us an extra opportunity to spend more time at Sterling this week/weekend. So, do the playtrons that attend mock-faire usually come in garb? What time is best to arrive? Is mock faire day definitely on Thursday? We're planning on attending in garb but have a good hour and a half drive (to get there), so it'll certainly make for a miserable day if we get all garbed-up, make the trip there, only to be turned away. Can anyone else confirm that Thursday is "THE DAY" for sure? Can't wait until opening day!!

Thank you Lady Amy! I am certain we will enjoy our visit. It feels like "home" to us. The playtrons and cast are so welcoming, it's just incredible! There are so many other wonderful things about your shire that I have no room to list them all, I am just so grateful to be only 4 days away from opening day!!

Yeah, that's an important reminder. There's nothing to eat or drink there on MFD. Usually I'd suggest printing out and bringing a copy of the faire schedule so you'll know where to go when, but it doesn't seem to be up on the festival's website. My three kids and I will be there for sure. We'll keep an eye out for you!
Lady Ana, looking forward to seeing you opening day. Don't be shy and introduce yourself to us. I will be the one in the Robin Hood hat and staff (Not as big as Scott's staff, but still a wooden staff.) My lady will have a black bodice with red embroidered wings on the back. We love meeting new people. And I am safe and even more innocent than Lady Amy and Irish.
Xantrawler: And I am safe and even more innocent than Lady Amy and Irish.
irish: Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa............... ;D
Oh gawd..........I fell off the chair with that one! :P LMIAO!!!!
PSSSSSST... Irish..it seems we are getting a bad rap... i don't know why... ::) ::) ::)for those rumors of us causing trouble are far from being true. ;D ::) ;D ;)
Why i think we best polish off our halo's and show everyone just how ladylike and angelic we can be ! ;D ::) ;D ;)
:-\ uuummmm, i don't know where mine is!
Repossess halos?
What an awesome, awesome day! The performances looked great, especially the new ones like the "Queen's Duel." Lots of familiar faces - many of them in new roles. Lots of new faces, too. Everybody was doing an awesome job. My kids got pulled into lots of performances and the cast seemed glad to have us there. I got to meet Lady Ana and another fellow from Buffalo whose name I've utterly forgotten because I'm awful with names. Well met, sir!
Such a really lovely day - quiet, peaceful, warm and sunny. Just right for treading the hallowed trails of Warwickshire! Can't wait for the real thing!
You've made me want Saturday to hurry up and get here even more. Sounds like the cast has done another wonderful job, can't wait.
Uploaded a few pics on the book of faces, Aaroncois saw you and the
kids com in but didn't get a chance to come say hello.
See you all on Saturday.

We looked for you, but the place was empty when we were in that neighborhood. The new hay looks terrific, though!
hay, hay......good ole fresh hay!! ;D
Esmeralda does a good job, doesn't she?
Swing by and try our new "expert" range - longer distance to the targets and the heavier bows - now *NOT* for the tourney only!!!!
