Ok all,
I am NOT hawking my wares. But the website for this is not working. Whoever they have as the web designer/host, etc. is crap.
Last year, they had major issues getting timely updates (per their actual team).
If someone knows how I can get in contact with them, I'm willing to barter with them for CHEAP. I'm a web designer by day and I honestly just want a site that works.
can someone PM me and get me their info, email, etc. or talk to them for me?
I'm just a really enthusiastic goer of this faire, and the website has NEVER worked properly since I"ve been going. And this , right now, is unacceptable from a web perspective.
I just want to help.
The site displays with Firefox, if you want to call it a site... a JPEG list of events. I know that IE has a few quirks, but to screw up programming so bad that even a JPEG won't display takes some real work.
Faire owners need to take heed: Anymore, web presence is critical if you want to reach your "customers." I've passed up going to some faires simply because I could not get any good, clear information about the faire on the web. Don't forget about off-season, too. Some of us are making plans a year in advance!
I have six different web browsers on my computer that I use to double check compatibility of my web programming with. (I write rich Internet/intranet applications) If your web programmer has a "thing" about IE (like a lot of designers/programmers I know), you need to fire them. Like it or not, IE still has a large share of the market, and it's not difficult to keep the programming compatible.
If MRF management is out here, it seems to me that you're getting an offer you can't refuse from LavaGoddess. In case you're wondering, I don't know her. But you need help... Your existing "website" shows "Michigan Renaissance Fetsival" as the title. I detest misspellings on websites.
Pardon the rant...
MiRF is run by the same company that runs MnRF and their website is up and running. MiRF is on Facebook and when I brought the website issues to them they said it would be up shortly... that was a week or so ago. Very sad that they don't take care of all of their faires equally.
They just updated the MNRF website recently, so MIRF's might be under construction currently.
It does appear to be under construction at the moment. Sadly every year the MIRF website is not updated until a few months before faire. But in their defense, I do believe they also do BARF, which ended a little over a month ago. And with both MNRF and MIRF starting at the same time I am sure they are busy getting things going.
It would be nice it they'de get it up and going sooner. I love looking at the info and pics and stuff. Get's me all geeked for faire. Thankfully I have everyone here to chat with and share pics and stories. If you have a specific question you could try asking here....somebody is sure to have some sort of an answer. I can tell you that Highland Weekend is the 27th and 28th of August. I know this because my hubby is a highland athlete and he's already been contacted about it. That's all I got. lol
I do know the owner is Jim Peterson, but he owns a lot of faires, so trying to get in touch with him would probably be quite a chore. You want to go through faire management instead. Just keeping sending out emails, you'll hit the right one eventually.
