Title: Things not to miss?
Post by: NorthBayDreamer on June 26, 2011, 10:07:46 AM
We will be visting your fyne faire on July 23 and 24 and I would like your recomendations.  We are from Northern California and attend 15-20 weekends a year at various faires and are very skilled at having fun.  My better half lives to shop.  I go for the music, people watching, coversation, and the ale.

Capt Spleen put together a great list of what pub has what.

The Big Cat Show (though not all the cats are "big"), Washer Well Wenches, and Celtic Legacy are all great.  I'm sure there a wide variety of opinions about the various shows.

Well, as for an absolute not to be missed... Puke And Snot (as long as you bring the Absolute...) and Celtic Legacy. Ben Holmes is a monster bagpiper and a genuinely nice guy. If you can see them while you're in Colorado, one of his students has a band called Angus Mohr. They don't play at the faire, but they're also not to be missed!

4.  Celtic Legacy

Safe travels!

PS:  The Baroness insists that your wife be informed that Noblesse Oblige has the finest noble garb in the country ... and the prices to prove it.    :o

OK, I forgot about Johnny. What a horrible oversight! He was hilarious... and a little disturbing.

Me!

Oh, uh...you're looking for real shows...um....aside from those that have already been mentioned, there has been a great bellydance show on the Castle Rose Stage at about 5:45 every evening, if you're still around by then. It's very entertaining.

If you happen to catch Zoe in a slow time at her soda booth and celtic legacy is playing she will start to dance and that is a show you shouldn't miss.

Arsene is a must and i always get a laugh out of the show even though its the same show each time.

For the fire lovers Willsome is a must see.

Toward 4:30 or so there's a "kidnapping" of sorts of the princess by Captain Jack and the Chancellor. That's pretty hilarious, toward the front gate. Otherwise, all of the shows are awesome, from what I've seen creeping by.

Hmmm, many good things to see.  We usually are still on site late in the day, so that will work well.   We are really looking forward to our adventure

I'm posting because I've been told multiple times that I need to see Monkey Face and I know I'll forget to ask a local while I'm there. So...if you see me and you know where Monkey Face is, feel free to point. Thanks!

yes trish it is a rock formation on the side of the mountain that with certain light gives the image of a monkey face sticking out the side of the hill

BTW, I will wear my R/F pin, anybody I run into (or runs into me) will be bought any drink they choose.

Hmm, it's all shows, and no shopping thus far? I suppose I should be disappointed in my brethren here. ;)

About all I really like to stop by are a couple of jewelry places. I would recommend Mandala Jewels (teardrop weave earrings), and Fleur du Jour (real rose jewelry of all kinds). The former is slightly uphill from the Greyhound booth, the latter is up at the top of the hill itself, next to the privies, and nearby one of the larger food courts.

I've also been known to take samples from the Garlic Festival in the Gypsy Camp, when I haven't been buying their wares outright to ensure I keep my food tasting nice when I'm out to sea.
