Title: Is "NERD" a language??
Post by: Lady Kathleen of Olmsted on June 26, 2011, 03:35:21 PM

Yesterday while I was volunteering at the early Registraion Pickup table for CONVergence, a CON member had a t-shirt that read..."Talk NERDY to me." I did a coubletake and asked someone, "Is 'NERD' an actual language  ??? ???

Does anyone here speak "NERD"  ??? If so, please elaborate. My inquiring mind would like to know.

Nerd language, leet speek/speak, internet jargon/slang and geek-speak are all pretty much the same. Start talking about HTML, javascript, C++, your level 85 paladin with epic flying mount, or how many noobs you ganked in PvP and you will pretty much have mastered the language of nerds.  ;D

That shirt is just a twist on the phrase "talk dirty to me"...Its not implying that its an actual language. Nerdy things are just like anything else...If I were to go talk to an auto mechanic about my car I'd have no clue what he was talking about cuz of the jargon involved...just like if a 'dane came and asked about your dress...you'd be able to go on a whole speech about that its techincally a bodice and split front skirt layered over an under skirt, and underneath you're wearing a corset, farthingale, bumroll, chemise, bloomers etc...Most people would only understand about half of the garments you were referring to...how many non-corset wearers know what a Busk is...etc...so its not really a language...just a set of jargon other people dont care to learn...
