Title: Lightweight Security S/W for Netbook?
Post by: dbaldock on July 06, 2011, 11:13:22 AM
So, the Netbook I've ordered is an Asus Eee PC 1215B-PU17, with an AMD Fusion APU E350 1.6GHz (dual core) Processor, (and will soon have 8 GB DDR3-1333 RAM), 12.1" (1366 x 768) Display, VGA & HDMI outputs, a 320 GB Hard Drive (that I'm swapping out for a 750 GB drive), an SDHC/SDXC Card Reader, 2x USB 2.0 Ports and 1x USB 3.0 Port (5 Gbit/sec).  It will have Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit installed by me from an OEM Full Installation disc.  I bought it because it's cheaper than buying a lot of large, fast SDHC/SDXC cards to hold all the photos from a (nearly) 2-week trip to the UK, and it's small enough to easily fit in the Laptop pocket of my Pelican PCS-2552 RSV camera bag.

My question, since I run Linux on my other PC's, is what have you found to be a good lightweight Internet Security Software Suite for Win 7 64-Bit on a moderately powered Laptop / Netbook?

I did find that Panda Security has a product called "Panda Internet Security 2012 for Netbooks (http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/internet-security-for-netbooks/#tech-specs)", and one person has recommended "avast! Internet Security 6 (http://www.avast.com/en-us/internet-security#tab2)".  Anyone here have experience with these, or other lightweight Security S/W products?  (I can already hear the Pirates saying, "avast!, ye matey..."  ;)  ;D )

Take Care,
David Baldock

I use avast! on my netbook and have never had any issues.  :)
