Title: New to North Carolina
Post by: Artemisia on July 07, 2011, 11:32:32 AM
Hi there.

I moved to NC from Upstate NY last year, and am looking for the pub around these parts. ;)

I'd like to plan to go this year to check out my new home faire. I'm planning on staying overnight in the area. I'd like to meet as many people as possible, so which weekend are the best for high attendance drinking and singing? Any hotel/motel recommendations?

Thanks much, and hope to meet many of you soon!

I try to go a couple of weekends, usually around opening weekend then on pirate weekend.  Plenty of hotels around especially along I-85. There is a Days Inn off of exit 55 but not much else around that one.  Go to exit 49 and there are more hotels, restaurants, and the concord mills shopping area.  Stayed at an Candlewood Suites last year from part of this deal: http://www.myfox8.com/wghp-roys-real-deals-landing,0,5456796.htmlpage (http://www.myfox8.com/wghp-roys-real-deals-landing,0,5456796.htmlpage)  Hope they have the same deal again this year.

Welcome and well met Artemisia!!!  I was just in Upstate New York finishing one of my Italian Greyhounds in Ballston Spa.  Very lovely area.  I am 15 mins from Carolina Renaissance Festival near Charlotte.  We have a lovely pub Galway Hooker http://www.galwayhookerpub.com/ in nearby Cornelius to enjoy after your Saturday visit to CRF.  (They are closed on Sundays.)
