Title: blogs
Post by: Auryn on July 27, 2011, 10:54:13 AM
I can't believe I am asking this as I never really thought of myself as a blog kinda person but I am finding that its becoming a very useful tool for my arts business.
I as hoping to get some feedback as to what you guys think
blogger or wordpress??

I would prefer to have it embedded in my regular website so I don't have too many different things to maintain but would still like the traffic that you get from being involved in their main sites.
I can do some css and html coding and I would like to be able to manipulate background images etc.

anyone with pros and cons of either or both?

My 2 cents:
I have developed themes and plugins for WordPress before and I find it simple, well documented and intuitive to use :)

I've not used blogger before so I can't offer an opinion.

I use blogger. And as someone who does READ blogs pretty frequently, and often using my iPhone, I find that reading a blogger blog is much nicer than a wordpress blog in mobile format. Wordpress doesn't allow the zooming in function to increase text size, and you have to click back and forth A LOT to get to the meat of the articles to see if there's even something there worth reading. I also prefer the ease of posting comments to blogger accounts compared to wordpress. I've quit following some blogs in wordpress because it's just too icky to be worth it.

As a blogger user, I find their system very user friendly. There are a ton of free backgrounds with detailed instructions. I like the looks and changes I've made with my blog, and I'm not even remotely competent in any of the HTML, CSS or whatever languages. Photo embedding is also easy for me since I use a Picassa account to host my pics, and since they're both from Google they've designed it to be easily integrated.

I've never played with wordpress from a blogger perspective, so I don't know if it's more user friendly or not though. Wordpress does have a pretty good reputation in the blogger community too.

Let us know when you have your blog up and running so we can check it out!

I use word press. Found it easy to use. The blog has increased traffic to the site.
