Title: Kittens
Post by: Becky10 on August 01, 2011, 02:21:36 PM
So I scooped up the cat that had previously had kittens (who are now living in my room) and had her on a waiting list for getting fixed when we found out she was pregnant again. *sigh* Well I woke up to mew mew mew this morning and helped deliver 3 little kitties and I am shaking and I have no idea what I am doing, so if anyone has any tips that would be AMAZING. They're currently all nursed and cleaned and decorded (we had to do one she got the other two) and everyone is relaxing and i feel like I personally gave birth and need coffee.

Oh, honey. <(^.^)> Here's a hug.

You're doing a good thing helping these kitties. Have you thought of becoming a vet?

I can't help answer any of those questions or anything, but I really hope someone can help you out.

huggggggssss.....Becky!
you are truly a wonderful person.
we have 3 more feral kittens in our garage. as soon as i can snag them, they are off to my vet. she has offered to fix mama for free and give me a huge break on the kittens.
maybe your vet may help? but, get the mommy fixed, asap!
best!!!

Have that cup of coffee, Becky.  It's wonderful that you even care about these critters. Too many folks couldn't care less. Like Ellie May, I love critters!

Thanks guys I need them hugs and kind words right now  ;D
There were 3, then she took an hour break and we ended up with 5 in total now. Of course she had to do this under the dresser in the most impossible spot ever and not one of the multiple boxes and cubby holes i made haha.
I managed to get them all hooked up to mama and they're happily nursing.

Good luck with those babies! :) Its wonderful how you have been so motherly over this cat and her kittens. There are many people that wouldnt.
Hugs from this quarter as well!

Oh ha ha I dont know about being a vet, I am surprised I managed to keep it all together at all really lol

A possible employer called in the middle of this and my brother decided to help by answering "She's arm deep in kitten birth, she'll call you back" without asking who it was. The job is for answering phones at an insurance company. I am screwed.

Well, if not a vet, maybe a vet tech or something. You definetly are attracted to and visaversa animals. I'm really seeing the possibility of you working with them and being paid for it rather than wondering what to do when they all come running for you.

I'm glad the babies were delivered well! Good luck with everything.

P.S. If you explain a small amount of the situation to the company, they may understand. Especially since it was so very sudden.

I just got onto this thread and was gonna tell you to watch out for "round 2" of delivery; but I see it already came!  Congratulations!  When our kitty had kittens a few years back, we moved her and her litter to the "cubby" we made for her, and they all stayed there.  Be sure to have food, water, sandbox, etc nearby for mama during her recovery!

Well done.  Truly well done.

Now if you could just stop her from getting preggers again, you would be the perfect mommy!

;)

Round #2 was probably the scariest thing. I had just calmed down from round #1 and then got a BIG surprise!

I am locking her up now, little cat ball and chain! She escaped last time and I couldn't find her till it was too late. *sigh*

Congrats on the grand-kitties, Becky! And really, if you called the interview people back in a reasonable amount of time, I expect they'll be amused rather than angered. I know I would be if I were the on hiring!

So most importantly, when do we get to see pictures of the babies?!

I believe this album is open to the public so theres some pics of the little ones. We has to move them about a bit because of where she birthed.

Mama has to be locked in with them or she neglects them and has a habit of biting them rather roughly as well as laying on top of them when she goes to sleep, she's not very bright.

These kittays will probably be given away for free as I am desperate to get rid of them.

So we lost one of the kittens this morning  :'(
She had always been really shakey and had a hard time nursing so we would try to bottle feed her but never could get her to have a bowel movement (we think she wasn't hooked up right) so she slept in a carrier on my bed last night and died in my arms this morning.
She was my favorite one so I am pretty upset but I didnt think she was going to make it. The mama had been ignoring her from the start. She was one of a twin so she was kind of doomed fromt he start really.
Sad sad sad

That's not actually the mom but their big brother, this is why I have to keep him locked up.

Oh, I'm so sorry you lost one of the babies, Becky.  *hugs*  I know it's hard to be a surrogate mom to furbabies... but you're doing an awesome job.

So sorry to hear of your loss.  I used to breed Shelties (with my mom) and losing any from a litter was always the hardest.  Best of luck with the others.  They are so darn cute!

The kittens are adorable!
I'm so sorry for the one you lost.  Know that you did your best, and there was probably something wrong internally that could not be fixed.  It is very sad, but she was loved more in her short life than so many ever get to experience.  She will be waiting for you at The Rainbow Bridge.
