Made some cinnamon toast today and the smell instantly transported me to the Louisiana Renaissance Festival.
Just after you enter the gates on the right is a vendor of cinnamon nuts and on cool mornings the spicy scent fills
the area.
Ahh! Just a few more weeks!
Mine is dragons blood. And smoky dusty air. Once in a while, I will be miles away from fest, and that specific scent, will linger for a second too long, and make me wish for Fest season to start.
Cinnamon almonds, jasmine incense, sandalwood incense and metal in a fire always make me think of Renfaires.
Dragon's blood, yes! And kettle corn and wood burning. Also, since it is so rare in south Texas, when I walk outside and the air is cool and crisp, that takes me right back to faire, even years after my first morning going when the weather was just like that, cold and fresh. I use to love the smell of those dryer sheets, so before leaving for faire for the very first time, I got one and rubbed it all over my clothes, so now a certain dryer sheet scent reminds me of it too.
There are so many little things that I can't quite remember them all, but it's so wonderful when I catch a whiff of them during the off season!
Nothing quite brings back Faire and Festival time for us then the smell of black powder smoke!
Ahh that heady sulfur smell from firing the big guns... nothing like it!
Dragon's blood definitely! And the perfume I wear to faire...takes me back.
Also our opening weekend has been known to rain so wet leaves in the cold damp air.
And the smell of Buttershots. :D
Let's see... incense burning, cigarette smoke/wood burning, Fall air, and the smell of my faire perfume.
All very wonderful smells. They make me and my heart smile :)
Musty leaves and freshly mown hay make me think of the parking lot mornings before fair.
Wood smoke, damp cedar chips and hay, china musk perfume, new leather, incense, rose scented soap and of course.....fresh road apples :D
Forgot to add-Fresh cut lumber. Our home faire has been adding a new building every year.
This summer I got a nice linen button up shirt.I kept wondering why I kept thinking of faire when I wore it. It took a few times for me to realize that it was the smell from the linen, especially on a warm day when I had been sweating.
Cinnamon nuts, leather, and incense.
The combined smell of beer and elephant.
The smells of incense, meat grilling, the coal fire of the blacksmith, leather, wet leaves or dust depending on the weather, and the cool, damp smell of the forest.

How could I forget that lol
I guess TRF is unique, no?
At CoRF my shop is next to a pub and the elephants arent that far away either.
Now, that's a freaky, smelly coincidence, Adriana!
Pine trees- (TRF)- kings nuts ,incense, scented oils.Faire smells are heavenly.
I had a scent made for me years ago with base notes of rose and vanilla and a few other oils thrown in for good measure. I only wear it to faire and it immediately transports me to there when I come upon it tucked away with my garb.
I would have to say the cent of hay and sometimes fire reminds me of faire. Also, certain incense smells reminds me of faire as well.
I bought some scented oil AT faire to take home with me.
I keep it at my desk at work. In the middle of winter - or anytime it's not faire season - I take the bottle, open it, give a good sniff or 2, put a dab on my neck, and even though I'm working, I have the smell of faire surrounding me.
Sweat covered with patchouli, Turkey leg roasters, deep fryers cooking battered "X" on a stick, urinal cakes and privies that should have been sucked out 8 hours earlier.
Various perfumes I bought from a perfumers stall, plus all of the different cooking smells.
That pine needles smell, reminds me of TRF....
The perfume I wear every day is Moroccan Spice from Majikah. It is a half&half blend of their Red Egyptian Musk and French Vanilla. I can't get it anywhere else because for some reason no one else's Red Egyptian Musk has the same nutmegy spicy smell. So I think of Scarborough every morning!
