Does anyone remember what the FOF passes sold for last year?
They started at $115.00 and went up I think Feb.
Yeah... Prices don't look like they've changed. Selling earlier every year, though! I'll have to pick out a couple of new pictures for the FoF pass...
Coy here folks- yep same prices as last year, but with a change. You can order a single day ticket till January for $18, which is the Group Price, but you can order just a few if that is all you need. After early January the will go up, but for now you don't have to find 14 other folks.
We are hoping this and the Weekend Pass helps everyone budget their trips this year, AND makes it easier to make an extra trip, because we sure enjoy everyone coming out!
More info on 2012 as it come available-
C
Early prices make me WISH I could plan my life that far out. :-[
I am lucky if I can do up a week ahead. :P
Some of our faire trips include additional passengers in Homer, the Odyssey, so long-term planning is important. I'm going to wait until my new wizard ensemble, by Lady Kathleen of Olmsted, arrives this week before ordering our FoF passes. I want to be in ultra-fine garb for my mugshot. I've already got rooms for the second weekend of Scarby.
I'm also trying to get my passenger list assembled for opening weekend of Sherwood so that I can order tickets and rooms for that weekend.
Thank you Coy for the update.
We bought our passes.
I kind of miss seeing pass #11 on the old style ones.
I got my pass and I few tickets to give as gifts. Now i just need to start working on my grab....
I'm super excited cause Open Day is my BDay! Talking garb already. Can't wait....

Well opening weekend will be the only weekend I can make it, so I hope to see you there. :)

Make sure you come by the pre-cannon party for a birthday toast
Daughter and myself were talking about this yesterday and there is a 90 percent chance of getting there this year. :)
Merry Christmas to the Merlin clan.... just bought a couple FOF's and half a dozen day passes.
Is is April yet?
FoF passes for m'Lady and me arrived today.
Between the Scarby management types, the TRF management types and the Sherwood manager types all being on the forums... I am seriously proud of this forum
Shows that the big shots at all three care about what us regulars think.

With Sherwood, it's not just a manager, it's the actual Owner/
Instigator himself who posts on the Forums.
I don't actively follow the threads for Faires outside of Texas, so now I'm wondering how many have Owners/Managers posting?
Take Care,

As far as I can tell, there are more owners here than that. But if they do not proclaim themselves outright, it is no worry to me. Serves two purposes, at least IMO. They can get open and outright feedback and it keeps them from loads of direct in their face feedback. ;)

Yeah, LD...I wonder how these ladies would feel about
us working on
our grab? I don't wear a kilt, and it's been centuries since I had to worry about a lady grabbing me...
I'm
almost with Teach—I'll toast with Jack Daniel's, if you don't mind. But you're right, LD, in that some of the feedback is "in-the-face." We have a tendency to voice complaints quite easily, but don't always voice the thanks when deserved.
When I worked in retail, I made it a point to know my customers by name. That's not difficult in a small boutique business. But this year, I had management and/or staff from 2 faires greet me by (forum) name. Mike Pullen at Sherwood, and someone at Scarby that someone else told me was Coy Sevier. Considering the size of their customer base, and this forum, I was bloody well impressed. The owner of the Oklahoma Ren Fest in Muskogee greeted me as well, and it's my understanding from Archer that he likes to greet his visitors personally. It may be an ego thing, but I like being recognized, and it makes me come back. That's why I made it a point to know my customers by name...
Texas does appear to be unusually well-blessed with management that actually cares, and Oklahoma as well.
Well, I already knew it but I'll say it again just in case anybody else doesn't-
Our Texas faires freakin' rock. I've got friends from all over the US that are jealous.
And ya know what, I'm proud of the fact that they are.
This year will be a bit leaner for me. I am planning on hitting more Cons than faires this year so as of right now, Opening and Pirate are the only two weekends I will try to make. Who knows what else at this point...
...that being said, I am planning on bringing my Mom Opening Weekend...in garb. That means everybody needs to be nice and behave themselves. (I'm looking at you, Fraser...)
being nice is one thing but behaving ourselves well that is another now isn't it. LMAO.
Careful, Elo...Angus and I may decide to sit around making rude body noises as you escort your mother past us...
I don't understand part of Meggers post.
What is a "behave" and how does one do that to themself?
*Does it involve rum?*

Huzzah! I always knew that Sterling was a top tier festival.
There are 4 of us from Galena desparately hoping to visit Scarborough in 2012. Steve & I visited for Rendezvous a couple of years ago, and haven't stopped talking about how wonderful it is! Now we've convinced 2 of our friends (wasn't hard, we said, "we're thinking of going back to Scarborough in Texas. Wanna come?" "Sure.") to come with us.
But - and here's the big but - right now the tickets are around $260. When we visited last time, they were $109 round trip, and when wildthingjew visited TRF in October, she paid $109, too. So unless they get down below the $150 level, we won't be able to make it.
So all you Scarby persons, I'm asking for collective vibes to be sent to American Airlines so they get the wonderful idea in their heads to hold a fare sale and charge $109 from Chicago to Dallas! Thanks!! ;D
Flight
Chicago, IL - O'Hare (ORD)
Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX (DFW) Friday
April 20, 2012 Departure:
Arrival: 8:50 PM
11:03 PM
Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX (DFW)
Chicago, IL - O'Hare (ORD) Monday
April 23, 2012 Departure:
Arrival: 5:45 PM
7:59 PM
$203
That's the cheapest out there... Spirit Airlines
Thanks, Merlin, at least it is a downward progression! Now we have to get another $50 to $70 off, and we'll be there!
Or... you just save or make $20 per month extra and BAM... you're here.
I don't like the sound of "BAM!" when I'm flying...it tends to make me nervous...

Sterling is high on my list of faires to visit at some point and just bumped higher on the list.
I have no clue what my summer plans are this year yet but I will definitely be considering this. Honestly, the free ticket itself isn't what made me want to come but the fact that you offered it shows that you truly care and I appreciate that quite a bit.
Have to get past Sherwood and Scarby before then though lol
*I wonder what kind of rum treats I can find in that little village in the woods*
Coy, for us, the weekend passes are a lifesaver! The rate of the daily passes makes the journey down from OKC even more costly, especially since we want to stay for the entire weekend, but saving that little extra with the two day pass will give us at least a few more dollars to spend inside the gates, and every little bit helps! A free child's ticket would help a lot, as well, if there are any special promotions in the works! ;)

You may come to regret that offer, Sir Douglas *grin*. My hubby and I have been thinking about organizing a Scarborough Performing Company Field Trip to Sterling this summer. Many of the SAPA folks have expressed an interest in attending Sterling, and it was my home faire for over 20 years before we moved to Texas so I would like to go back and visit the Old Stomping Grounds, so to speak.
We may end up on your doorstep! :)

If there's rum...there is no difference
I need to sit you down for a talk, son. Not rum...Jack Daniel's!! Jeez...you give up so much, and they turn out like this...
Jack Daniels is for breakfast only.... then rum for lunch.... scotch for...well... scotch goes well anytime...but there are rules to drinking!
Phwew! You had me worried there, son! Though my tastes vary from that, I totally concur with your logic.
well, don't hate me if I've decided that Forty Creek is better than JD. :)
Anyone going to preview weekend? Don Juan will be roaming around on his lonesome that day.
We decided to forgo Preview in lieu of opening weekend.
I won't say that I've tried all whiskeys and know Jack Daniel's to be the one-and-only, and tastes vary considerably. I enjoy JD and have a history with it—it provided my very first drunk, bed-spins, hurls, and two-day hangover. I've loved it ever since. ;D
I always enjoy an education of my palate, especially with alcohol! Some things I do have trouble with...the strong peat flavour of many Scotches, but I have had some that were quite tasty.
Back on topic, though, I notice that FoF memberships will not be sold after Feb 28 this year, so if you want to be a Friend of the Faire, get on board now!
This is a reminder that February 28, 2012 is the last day to get a Friend of Faire membership online at the discounted price of $115.00. Beginning February 29, 2012 Friend of Faire memberships will still be available online for $125.00.
Discounted Friends of Faire Memberships will still be on sale for $115 at the North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park – March 2, 3 & 4. We will also be taking pictures and handing out Friend of the Faire Pins as in years past.
Thank you DonaCatalina -I knew that newsletter would pay off!
Friend of Faire Memberships will be available ALL SEASON until we reach our limit of 2,000. The date February 28, 2012 is the last day to buy them for $115.00 unless you purchase them at North Texas Irish Festival. From February 29,1012-April 1, 2012 they will be $125.00 and then April 2nd-May 28th they will be $135.
If any of you have any questions about things you may be hearing; please feel free to email me or send me a private message and I will do my best to clarify. (My email is Danielle@srfestival.com).
Perhaps I read it incorrectly...old eyes. Trust me when I say that the FoF pass is a good deal. Even in the years when we can only come down one weekend, we've made it pay. Four of us normally travel together, Nim & I get the FoF. At advance prices, 8 tickets would cost us $160, or at the gate, $196. We get preferential parking (quite nice), 10% discount on shirts & mugs...between the 4 of us, we've never spent less than $200 in the shop, and we've taken huge advantage of the FoF pavilions. We're within a few bucks for just one trip down! Anything more than that is gravy... PLUS, FoF monies are used to fund special projects at the faire. I highly recommend FoF passes if you plan to be at the faire more than one weekend.
(** I received no remuneration for the previous endorsement **) :)

There is also something to be said about the fact that money that is gained from the FOF pass ends up going back to the faire itself. It has helped repair bridges and stages. Before I started working weekends, the FOF was great because it eliminated my worry of having to figure out exactly where I was going to scrounge up the cash to get a ticket to get in. If I get grab a ride or get enough gas in my truck, I could pack a few sammichs in my bag and go to faire for the day.
This season is just gonna be a lil leaner than the previous few.
Huzah to Danielle!
For us just the parking and water makes the FOF pass a bargain. Not to mention we're there every weekend anyway.
Its not the walk to the gate in the morning; its the walk back to the car in the evening that makes the difference.

That's no kidding. In our earlier days at Scarby, we ended up in the east 40. It's a long walk at the end of the day!
Finally remembered to buy my tickets!
At the moment we are pretty sure we will be there at least opening and closing. There is a potential third weekend but we just don't know when or if on that one.
*Mundania keeps trying to cut into my rum/faire budget*
Got my FOF pass now just need ink to print it off.
I think discount tickets are still available online as of 3/14
Discount tickets at Tom Thumb always too
