"Fantasy author Anne McCaffrey passed away today at the age of 85. Best known for her "Dragonriders of Pern" series, McCaffrey began her writing career in 1967 with the publication of "Restoree," her first novel. She was rumored to be working on a new installment of the "Pern" series.
Thanks for creating such amazing worlds for us to inhabit every once in a while, Mrs. McCaffrey. You will be missed.

Thank you Ann for all the hours of enjoyment that your books have brought me over the years...You shall be missed... :'(
How sad.
I shared the love of Anne McCaffrey's writing with my father. I have almost completed collecting a copy of every book she has written. I appreciated her brand of fantasy and its power to take me out of myself and into her other worlds and continue to reread over and over again.
She was a wonderful Author, I have read many of her works. May she R.I.P. and her works continue to reach many others long after her passing.
Thank you Anne and Farewell.
She was one of my favorite authors.

She will be missed. She is surely having tea with Tolkien and Lewis and talking shop. ;)
I am happy that she was able to pass her torch to her very capable son Todd during the last few years. He is a very talented writer who she described as an author who will stay true to the vision she had for her series.
Sadness :(
Viva la Pern! See you on the other side Ms. Mccaffrey!
Shelved her books many a time working at my library....Maybe I should suggest a memorial display, we've done it with other authors.
I was on the verge of tears when I read this the other day on their facebook.
I really regret not having stood in line for several hours to meet her at DragonCon this past year.
I really thought that I would get to see her next year.
I hope the in-between is as beautiful as she imagined it to be.
My wife will be upset, she loves her books!!
I loved this movie, and it reminded me so much of Anne's Pern. Snagged this from someone else mourning AM's death.
