Title: Prayer request for oldest son
Post by: Mairte on January 11, 2012, 12:31:41 PM
He has been sick for 10 days and now they have hospitalized him to get him rehydrated and for tests. Pancreas, they think? I dont know very much about that sort of thing but prayers are needed and welcomed. Thank you.

I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer, so lighting a prayer candle for the both of you.
Dehydration, can make you very sick. The best thing for him is to be in the hospital so they can give him fluids thru IV to get him re-hydrated.

If it turns out to be something like pancreatitis, it's much better that he's in the hospital where they should be able to keep a handle on things.  Regardless, dehydration can get real serious real fast. As Lady Amy said, being on IV and having them watch his blood chemistry to get it back in line, will make all the difference in the world.

We're all here for you... returning all the good vibes I got from all of you when I was recovering. It's nice that good vibes are recyclable  :).

Anti nausea meds are to counteract the nausea  you can get  when you get very dehydrated , and also can get nausea  when you are on morphine.
Morphine is probably  for  any pain he is  in.
IV  for  fluids  to help with dehydration and  also the morphine is usually administated  thru IV.
Hope  that helped  ease  your  mind !  :)

Thank you, that was extremely helpful! He is supposed to be there another couple of days apparently. But at least he is coherent now.

Mairte, I just saw this and am sending good vibes your way. Your son is in good hands and the hospital staff will take care of him. I know you can't help but be worried but please remember that he is in the best place that he could be right now, and we are all behind you!

If they're already talking about turning him loose, that's real good news.

Prayers going out to both of you, Mairte.
If it was Pancreatitis, that is very painful.   Hope they find out what triggered the attack.
