Watching the video of the tornado moving along 35E (part of the job) and wondering if anything is gettting hit?
Jim

Saying a prayer that they are all safe and well. From what I understand the storms have passed the DFW area so at least the threat is gone now.
We spent 30-45 minutes in the stairwell at work. No dammage on our end. The day care even put Fuzzlet's class in the bathroom to wait it out. There was a tornado that touched down in Arlington, but so far the Pink Pirate's crew is doing ok.
Saw some pretty scary video of one of the tornadoes tossing semis around like matchsticks. Not sure exactly where in Dallas it was.

35 corridor around 20.
Spent some time in interior shelter and Amy was sent to the basement twice at her work. At the house we just got a lot of rain. Hope everyone and the new grounds are ok.

Mercy! We'll be coming through there Friday on our way from Little Rock to Scarby... I hope the Interstate is still there! :o
Scarborough states: "We didn't have much wind, storm wise. We are guessing inch and a half - two inches. We now have 3 days of sunshine- we will be dry and GREEN (and the flowers will be something) come Saturday. We'll have our Easter colors in top form!"
I heard that a funnel touched down near I-20 and Cooper, but so far, no reports of major injuries, TBTG.
Good news Bad news.
My entire neighborhood got smashed bad....tornado went right down my street. Lost every tree...roof...windows...fence.... damage to some exterior walls... BUT nobody got hurt.
Property can be replaced...dont even care about that...when I couldn't find my daughters...a bit scary. But all is fine.
Merlin, glad to hear you and the family are safe.

You are quite right about property. Glad to know every one is fine.
Oh Merlin, I'm so sorry. But you are right that property can be replaced, so I'm very glad no one was hurt.
I spent about 30 minutes in the interior bathroom with the dog and a camping futon.
We had two pass close enough for me to hear the vacuum cleaner sound...one east and one west... but we only lost a few shingles.
There were actually four major tornadoes that went through Dallas and Fort Worth yesterday afternoon. They looked like giant paisleys on the radar screen before we lost computers.
Merlin, glad you and family are safe.
Glad your family and you are safe.
Jim
Merlin! You have a spell backfire?
*Glad you & yours are ok, my friend* ;)
Son! I'm sure glad you are all okay... You should have called... I was worried sick! REALLY!
Merlin I am glad everyone is safe! Saw your pics on FB and WOW!
Glad you're safe my friend.
*i will chip in rum if it will help with the restocking*
....or even some spare ice chests for storing food, maybe?
If any of you know people in effected area that are veterans a Vet oginization I'm a member of is looking to help out. Go ahead and PM me if you are or know of one.
Jim
Glad to hear that there were no casulaties.
Life goes on despite massive cleanup. Let's hope Rick Perry decides to accept Federal Disaster relief. money so people can rebuild.
::) :-X
Merlin,
The Baroness and I join in giving thanks for your family's safety!
Now, please tell us that your homeowner's insurance covers tornadoes.
PS: Might I suggest that you test your father's spells on a somewhat smaller scale next time. ;)
Baron, in this part of the country, tornadoes are part of life...I don't think they can NOT cover tornadoes.
By the way, he sneaked that spell book out of my laboratory without my knowledge. It was an olde book, and I could have told him that newts aren't as strong as they were in the early days, and you have to use more of them now for a proper spell.
It was my fault...I was practicing a new weather spell and father wrote the directions down wrong! !
It's 1 eye of newt.... not 7 ! ! Hard to read his writing...he's 1450 years old, ya know.
...if you'd quit hiding my glasses! (**rotten kid!!**)
I was out of town for all the excitement, but had a frantic text conversation with my daughter, who got caught out in the hail. Here's the rear windshield of her car...
She is just fine. Her car however, needs a few bandaids! I think that hole in the 2nd photo is the result of "the" hailstone that ate the window for lunch.

Glad everyone, especially Merlin Jr!, is safe and sound.
Holy Cow!
Poor car.
Might salvage the broken glass for an art project.
Happy that everybody made it through without injury.
Mon Dieu! ...and I don't even speak French!
Merlin, glad that you and your family are good. We had a similar situation in the April storms of 2008. The twisted transformers down the street from us made the news, but no mention at all of our neighborhood that looked like a war zone although not nearly as bad as yours (the video in the other thread made me cry). We got a new roof with some wind turbines, a new double board fence (because we couldn't find most of the original), a few new windows, a new chimney cap, new storage shed, some new siding, and since every window screen had to be replaced, we upgraded to those solar screens which have been a real help for our electric bill. Of course, we lost some things to glass and water damage, but luckily none of it was stuff that couldn't be replaced. On the whole, with the insurance money, we were able to take that and spend a little extra to have some upgrades done. Of course, it is terribly inconvenient throughout the process because it takes forever, but I will hope that in the end, you'll actually find it all beneficial. Take this time to get in a few upgrades if you can manage it. And then plant a new tree in memory. I hate hearing that you lost some old oak trees. Those aren't quite so easily replaced.
Very glad that you are well though. Keep up the good attitude. It will help a lot in the upcoming months as you get everything repaired. You're fighting with so many other people trying to get things fixed, the contractors really do work on a worst case basis. It wasn't until we told the roofers that we continued to have water leaking into the house, down our drywall despite the tarps, that they actually moved us up on the list. Good luck to you as you get it all repaired. I think our storms were on the Tuesday before Opening Day that year too. Being able to escape from it all at Scarby is a real boon!
