Title: Tortuga Twins??
Post by: cowgrrl on April 05, 2012, 11:11:31 PM
I've never seen them live but I've seen clips of YouTube. They seem more Iris & Rose than Stewart & Arnold. Anyone seen them?  So far I've told my oldest to steer clear until I've screened.

Not as bawdy as I & R.  They have different shows, their last Rated 'R' is still not that bad, maybe steer clear of that one for younger ears.  This is also the 'other' ones, there are actaully 2 groups of them.

I would say Tortuga Twins are definitely bawdier than Stewart & Arnold but as Gauwyn says, they have different shows so you can choose. They clearly tell you which ones are the "R" shows so they are easy to avoid if you have young ones. They do have 2 groups and sometimes even blend the members so you may get a different combo of performers than you saw on YouTube.

They've been at Scarby before, haven't they?  ...or am I having another senior moment?

You be kind to your elders, Gauwyn, else you find a dried newt stuffed in an uncomfortable ... position.

I still think they used to be on the schedule...Lys, you listening? You'd probably know...

Perhaps you're thinking of the German Twins, who were here every year I can remember until this season.

We've been attending Scarby since 2005, and don't remember the Tortuga Twins ever being here...but then maybe I am having a mid-life moment  ;) :P

No, as far as I know, the Tortuga Twins haven't been to Scarby since I started going. I've heard good things about them though.

I think I've seen part of their act at the MN Ren Fest.  It drew BIG crowds.

If the Tortuga Twins have been at Scarby, it was before I was here so that would make it at least 11 years now.  I don't remember ever seeing them out there before.

Not very definitive of me, I know, but it's late and my brain is a bit fuzzy. :)

Tortuga Twins haven't been to Scarby before.... Dad you are thinking of those fat Irish women that you used to chase about in the early 300's.

Yeah...could have been.  I must have been really drunk.  They only had three teeth between them.

Yes, they are a staple at MNRF, and the original ones, but we have seen 2 of the 3 that will be at Scarby and they are good.

The Blue team is at Scarby this year - they just finished a run in Tampa at the Bay Area Ren Fest and were pretty entertaining. We're spoiled in Carolina as we get the "A" team. The lasses will obviously "enjoy the view" with Salvadore.  ;)

They are bawdy...get more so as the day progresses. Mostly innuendo, so most goes over kids' heads. The last show of the day - the Rated R show, while not profane - they STRONGLY encourage those with kids at the show to leave. And they mean it! If you stay with kids - they make sure you have to answer/deal with questions on the ride home.

Enjoy! I highly recommend them.

Saw them today & laughed so hard I think I pulled something. They did 'Robin Hood' & for Robin they pulled up a guy dressed like David Tennant Doctor Who. The Twins totally RAN with it & it was impressive. I'm going to try & go see another show next weekend.

Talked to one of the Twins today (Salvatore) & I highly encourage all of you who saw them & want them back to let management know.  They would love to come back for a full run after this test year.  I've already sent my email.
