April 14 & 15 Wines of Spring
April 21 & 22 Wines of Germany
April 28 & 29 Wines of France
May 5 & 6 Cinco De Mayo Wines of the New World
May 12 & 13 Wines of Italy
May 19 & 20 Wines Down Under
May 26, 27 & 28 Flynn's Favorites
We enjoyed the wines of Spain. Captain Flynn Markley came up with a stellar slection.
Probably one more is in the cards for us; but which one?
FYI
They will be having the Scotch tasting again. They were not rady this weekend, but are scheduled to start this weekend.
You will need to go to the Rose & Crown (I think that is the correct name) and ask the bartender about it. I did not get the times.

How about you plan for Flynn's Favourites when we can join you? We may be a bit late for this coming weekend, plus we'll be a wee bit busy, but surely we can work our way in on closing weekend!
I'm still waiting for the Jack Daniel's Tasting weekend...
Count me in for one of those closing weekends ones! We've been wondering if we could make the 1pm on Saturdaay 5/26.
Good grief, Gertie! Leaving your reception to go to a wine-tasting? You're going to be one hammered bride! :D :o
<whistles innocently>
Would the 3pm one be better? ;)
alrightee then.... Saturday of closing weekend. I'm game for 3:00pm if Merlin is. ;D
Sounds good to me... Who is going to carry me home? :P
Sidekick can probably get the 4 of us back to the Hilton Hampton. He is my DD!
(had to correct the hotel name. But see why I need a DD? I might even need a DT- designated typist!)
Then, I take it that we have a consensus! I have just purchased tickets for Nimue and me.
The wine tasting sounds like so much fun! I've seen a few people come out of there listing distinctly to port... ;)
I prefer a nice Cabernet to Port ;D
After attending a renewal that day, then hitting the wine-tasting, I hope the next thing I hit isn't the floor...
Tickets have been purchased!
....actually a nice port is good for cold winter nights in front of a roaring fire.

Maybe you could start a Scotch thread and keep us posted. I know a lot of people told me that they would have gone last year had it been better advertised.
Make mine a Pinot Grigio, please... I'm far more partial to the lighter whites than the hearty reds. Nothing in oak, though, please! I'm a bit picky when it comes to my wines, I guess. They might just throw me out of the tasting if I were to attend... :P LOL
I never get to play the drinking games, however, because my Scally is just a little young to be babysitting me afterward! And besides, they won't let her come in and count how many glasses I've had... ::)
Whee tickets purchased for 2 on 5/25 @ 3pm. The Prodigal Daughter will have to fend for herself. You do realize that this does somewhat disrupt my usual 3:30 Iris & Rose show...oh well, they have a 1:30 and...IT'S CLOSE! ;)
Edited to clarify the date and time. Don't want to confuse "EVENTS".
And hey, if you have tried Port and don't like it, I would venture you tried Ruby Port and encourage you to try Tawny Port. Om nom nom. I love Tawny Port! Which reminds me, maybe I should just buy a bottle for THIS weekend to work on some converts!!
my experience with wine was great when we lived in germany Rhine river valley

SEE!!!!! It was RUBY Port! Try TAWNY Port! I must get some for tailgate this weekend! (yes, I am an enabler, please step along)
You don't think they'll bar the doors when they find out the 6 of us will be at the same wine tasting, do you? If it were me hosting, I'd lock the doors! :o ::) 8)
Shhh! Let's not tell them! ::)
^_^ I think we already did....maybe they'll forget.... :P
Don't you have a spell for that?!

Ummm... oh, never mind. :D :D :D
Now, see? This is when punctuation would have come in handy... ;D
If you are planning to make the 3:00 pm tasting on Saturday of closing weekend; you might want to buy your tickets online well in advance. What I'm hearing is that quite a few spots for that show have been sold already.
The word must have gotten out that the six of us—you and the Don, Lady Kett and Sidekick (on their honey-re-moon!), and the Lady Nimue and myself—were going to be there... I guess EVERYBODY wants to be seen with us... ::) 8) ;)

I keep telling you that you are famous Merlin. People will want your autograph!
[Edit: Not enough coffee yet....]
Mmm-kay....if you say so, Kett. You suppose it's the "gangsta" beard? :P I think it more likely that they want to take a shot at me...

Well, if you would quit throwing newts and frogs and lizards at people...
:)
Well, shucks! They were all housebroken! ... a little slimy, perhaps, but still housebroken...
Well...slimy things aside... I am looking forward to discovering what Flynn's favorites turn out to be. ;)
Memorial Day, May 28th, 3:00 p.m.: King Henry VIII, Queen Anne, Archduchess Sabine, Queen Margaret, Lady Mary Brandon, Sir Anthony Browne, Lady Jane Seymore, Sir Henry Seymore, The German Baronesses, all four of the Faire Owners... I think we are so very close to 'Sold Out' on that one.
For a day or two I thought that you had said Saturday, your Majesty.
It's been a good season so far as wine choices go. I like to tease Captain Markley about them; but he does a very good job.

DONE! Now the Throckmortons will also be there!

Boone's Farm is NOT Wine
I don't care what anyone says! lol
That's like saying Smirnoff Ice is Beer
You just need someone that knows wines well to help you find your wine of choice... there are American appellations that are comparable to Germany... Washington and Oregon are the main comparable regions... You need to find a nice Rhine wine, or Riesling from one of these appellations, and you may find your wine.
HOWEVER... if it's a German Riesling that you liked whilst in Germany, you probably will not find anything like it in America. Even though Germany is WELL known for it's sweet Rieslings, Germany keeps it's best Rieslings for itself and tends to not export them. A wine that is considered a TRUE German Riesling is going to be in between semi-sweet and sweet. These Rieslings are much less sweeter than the Rieslings that we find in America. America LOOVES it's sweet wines! (I still have yet to understand that as I myself gag if the wine is too sweet)
So, basically, the German wines you may have had are going to be between a semi-sweet and a sweet wine. Whereas the comparable wine here in America will most likely be much sweeter. Which may be why you are having such a hard time finding a comparable wine that you enjoy!

That being the case, I'd better do the 1:00 wine tasting as well... Unless I've been misinformed, Otwell is a Marine Lord and not a Marine Lady. Signing his breasts could cause a psychotic break in an elderly wizard... Kett, it's a good thing your vow renewal precedes this act of debauchery...
I <3 acts of debauchery...
PS Looking forward to meeting you Otwell. I will be the sweaty, tipsy bride person at the wine tasting LOL. (I got my gown this week, and it's hot INSIDE my house...I can't imagine how toasty I will be out in the real world on Memorial Day Weekend!)
WE'll have to make sure that Lady Kett gets plenty of water. It would be bad to pass out on her wedding day.
I can't wait to meet Lord Thornton, he sounds loco como nosotros.

Wishing you and sidekick a wondrous day!
In addition to her Sidekick, Gauwyn, she will also have her favourite personal wizard on hand. I expect that there will be a debauchery extravaganza!

Ooo! "personal wizard". I like the sound of that. I assume Jack Daniels is the currency in which you prefer to be paid? I just bought 2 bottles...

MAP? we don't need no stinking maps. LOL
