Title: Free Ticket
Post by: DonaCatalina on May 16, 2012, 10:10:34 AM
I have one free ticket good for any day of faire. Available to the first person who finds me Saturday morning May 19 on Row 12.

or maybe you can give it to a newbie to use for the 28th that won't be there tomorrow, but will be seeing you on row twelve on the 26th?

I can snatch it for ya.  I am always there before she is   :)

That would be cool... only if she wants it to go to me to use on the 28th, and if she won't be there on the 26th... which, from other forum threads, I believe she will be there on the 26th... so there may be no need for a courier.  I guess I'll just wait to hear from Dona.

I should have my clothes and boots in very soon... so hopefully I can upload a pic on here so everyone will know who to look for on closing weekend!  haha

I will hook ya up... so long as i see her first  lol.

I am almost always at the faire side end of Row 12.  Look for a Black Kia Sorrento.

little not so hidden secret... a lot of us take a cooler and bring our own beer.  An occasional trip to the car never hurts.

Most of the time the guys at the gate never say anything about us bringing back a full mug of stuff.

Which will probably be the case for last weekend as well.

What time does everyone usually arrive for the tailgate party?

the early of us get there at 6:45-7am ish.   most other folks start showing up 7:30-8.

its not exactly a party more than it is people hanging out getting ready.  Some folks walk around and talk,  some just take a long time to get dressed.  Others of us just like to chill out at our cars and watch everybody do their thing.

That said, please be aware that according to the faire's policy, you aren't supposed to bring in any beverages through the gates, and they have every right to ask you to finish it outside or dump it.  Also, at the end of the day, they are not supposed to let you leave with any alcohol either.

Also, while it is understandable that people are trying to stick to budgets in these harder economic times, part of supporting the festival is buying food and drink inside.  Now yeah, I've tucked a sandwich into my backpack now and again, but I also make a point of buying faire food too.  I mean, why go to faire and not enjoy the offerings there, right?  :)

when you go every weekend,  its extremely hard to buy both alcohol at the elevated prices and the food that increases in cost every year.

But yea...  I generally get a few inside,  and maybe a snack  (the pretzel sausage and the chicken fajitas are yummy)  and then make a trip out if im near gate.

Sometimes i pack my lunch,  but probably more than half the time im eating inside.   Beer on the other hand is a 50/50 split most days  unless its a payday weekend  lol.

As for taking it in coolers.... Otwell,  most of us start drinking as soon as we hit the parking lot.  For some of us... Thats 7am.   gates open at 10.  :)

WE bring breakfast to share in the parking lot about 7:30 - 8:00. We also bring adults beverages to share if your tastes run to wine.
For lunch, we brings meat and cheese rollups to have before parade with some G2 so that we stay hydrated and stable.
That is where FOF really pays for itself. It's close enough that you can walk out to your car, have some food and a few drinks before going back in to enjoy the fair.
I personally have never consciously attempted to pass through the gates with a full goblet; though I know some do.

(It's usually Don Juan reminding me to drink up before we get to the gate.)

I would hazard a guess that in most jurisdictions, except in designated areas, passing in and out of a licensed (alcohol) facility with an open container (or filled vessel) is illegal.  There are also the issues of civil liability...

I've actually heard a handful of people squalling about their rights being trampled on because of these restrictions, and to them I say, "Grow up and get a life. Whiners not welcome."

I don't even get up that early for my HOME faire!  (And for the record, that's Southern California, not Colorado.)

somebody told me theres a deal for 12 bucks at the online ticket ordering.  go check it out and buy one online for way cheaper if it is.

Just went to look... strike that.  thats the 2:30 tickets that are 12 bucks.  Can only get in after 2:30 with those.  :(

However,  lonnie (the guy who parks next to me sells tickets.  I think he gets them thru some program with scarby for folks to help sell tickets.  Might can check with him in the morning how much he can sell one for.

Lonnie gets the tickets for his business in bulk lots. I know its cheaper than gate prices; but like Sqirl, I don't know exactly how much. He drives the big white truck and is usually second from the front.
