I'm flying to Georgia to visit their festival this weekend and I've never flown to a festival before. I'm paranoid about packing my garb in my checked luggage. If my luggage were lost... I can't even think about it. I couldn't replace the pieces before MN, that's for sure. Any advice on taking my garb in my carry-on? Specifically, I'm concerned that the steel boning in my bodices won't make it through the security check. Any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated.
When we fly out of state to a faire, we always take only carryon. I've never had any problems with any of my bodices. Of course, you can't take any type of weapon, such as a peace tied dagger, but aside from that, you should be ok. We've flown with our garb to Texas, and to Florida several times on different airlines, and I never was stopped.
Thanks for the feedback. I just checked the weather for GA this weekend. 95-100 degrees all three days... I may not even take my garb. I think I've only been garbed up in that kind of weather twice and as I recall it didn't go well.
I've only traveled for faire a few times. When I pack, I place anything that I would absolutely be heartbroken if it was damaged/lost/stolen into a carry on bag. Everything else can go in the big bag. And I do expect my bag to be searched. You'd think TSA has never seen a boned bodice on their scanners before! What's so scary about several long shafts of steel sandwiched into your clothing anyway?? :)
A carry on?! Are you kidding me?! 1 of my hats won't even fit into a carry on, much less enough garb for a whole weekend. LOL I pack and go with the flow. When I travel to another shire I want to go as MG, not MG lite. ;) :D
I'm pretty sure there is NO such thing as "MG Lite."

Do a little reading and you will definitely rethink carry-on.
