Title: Making the long drive from Pensacola to Scarborough for last weekend.....
Post by: William the Braveheart on May 23, 2012, 09:28:18 PM
Had to miss TRF for the first time since 2004 in 2011 due to bad breakup with the X.  Have missed Scarby the last two years and am planning to make the long drive alone for the last weekend.

Will be the first Faire without my Ren-Girl and it will be very emotional for me. We both loved Scarborough.

I fooled around and waited too long to book a flight to Dallas from New Orleans, so will have to spend a fortune on gas and rental car, so need a little help on the lodging.

Any non-smoking dear souls out there that have space in their hotel room or dwelling for a few nights, please contact me directly by e-mail (williammax@cox.net) or cell phone. (850-377-7655) I plan on leaving Friday afternoon/night.  BTW, I'm perfectly fine sleeping on the floor with sheets and a pillow.

Once RenFaire is embedded  in your heart and soul, there's no escape. I didn't realize how much I'd miss it until I actually had to do just that. Moving from Houston was just a tragic mistake and I wish that wrong could be righted. Maybe I can find a little of the magic once again this last weekend.

Any help will be appreciated.

Infinite love and graditude to all................

Well...I have no lodging to offer.

Comfort Suites has rooms for about 79$

Come over to Row 12 and get some early morning drinks and food. I will gladly offer you a cold frosty beverage.... I plan on packing a few.

You picked a great weekend to come out! Shouldn't be too hot.... but plan on drinking plenty of water and gatorade just to be safe.

If you come to row 12 before opening ceremony, surely you could find someone that can help you!

Leaving in a few hours (It's now  3:20 on Friday afternoon) for the long drive. Have a room booked at Motel 6 in Lancaster/Desoto up I-35 about 20 miles. Don't know how early I can be out Saturday morning. That depends on what time I roll into Dallas tonight/morning. Anyway, would like to meet all that responded to my post. If I can make it out early, I'll try to find yall on row 12. If I miss yall early, call my cell at 850-377-7655 and we can meet up inside at some point during the three days.

In addition, I'd like to invite anybody to go out and eat at Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie Saturday or Sunday night after the Faire.

Don't be afraid to call my cell so we meet up. Thanks..................WTB

Me and a buddy (And his wife) from the Faire went over to Catfish Plantation Monday night after closing, but it was closed up lock, stock and barrel. Even the Ghosts were asleep. It's closed every Monday and Tuesday. Very disappointed. They could have made a mint opening up for Memorial Day night and advertising to the post Scarborough crowd............

Hey everybody that I met from the board, (Otwell T, Lady Kett, Merlin, Dona C) I pulled into my rest house in New Orleans about an hour ago. The drive back was much better. Stopped a lot along the way and wasn't nearly as tired on the return. Back to Pensacola tomorrow and am NOT looking forward to it after the high energy of Scarborough and Dallas...........

I'll talk with you this week. Let me know if you need any additional help at Pirate Fest.

I had a chance to play with Tartanic, so I made the long drive alone to Waxahachie. Had a blast there, but it just reinforces the huge mistake I made in leaving Houston everytime I go back to Scarborough and TRF. I miss the energy of living close to a large city (But not TOO close) and being able to attend my Faires without the travel hassles...........
