53 DAYS!!
Can I get a woot woot? ;D
Where does one purchase a woot, and how expensive are they?
Since I finally know that I can attend at least one full day (and after 5 the other day) each weekend of KCRF...
WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm going twice this year! Two full weekends, yay! Had to beg my boyfriend, but we'll be in KC both weekend, why not?!

A Woot sounds very Seussical. The beauty of it is that you may give them to me for free! Woot woot! ;)
Wow Aniroaldawen! Every week! I think I spotted you last year cheering for the Jolly Rogers. Good times!
Delireus - I look forward to seeing your steampunk ensemble on my birthday weekend!! (Shameless plug for moi's birthday! Crepes will be accepted in lieu of presents! HA!)
51 days - more woots!
Oh my god, i forgot about the crepes! Things need to hurry up

Sweet, sweet crepe love! I took pictures of my favorite crepes: Dragon & Prince's Kiss. I must have them!! Everyone takes pictures of food, right? right??? *cricket* kcdcchef took a good picture of the crepe stand. I'm sad the food bucks book is no longer included in the season pass deal, but they ran a good sale on them last year.
I don't know what sort I had last time. It had ice cream in it, and strawberries and bananas I think. T'was amazingly delicious. Here I am on the right trying to eat it before it melted all over me!

I've asked to have her removed from the board, she's just too darned negative.
What can I say? I have rage issues! See my shiny sharp teeth? ;D RAR!
6 1/2 WEEKS till opening cannon!!
Hell, now the angry woman, known as Tamtaro, is going to blow us up with a cannon! We need to get her out of this depression!

columbus day weekend, we going to hook up this year?
ONE MONTH until the gates open!!!
I can't wait to go home!!! :-D
yeah has anyone else noticed that the season starts in like 23 days?
I'm cracking up at the half-face girl in Delireus' photo! Did you photobomb her or did she photobomb you? Loves it! :D
21 disco-days till boogie time! Yes, disco...because it's sparkly and makes me want to wear funny pants!
And as for my rage: Love me and despair!! The only medicine for this madness is CREPES!! :P ;D
hah! I have no idea, I was too busy stuffing my face to notice the picture!
Oh, btw, the KC mini faire is August 15th, I just saw something about that on their facebook page. I've been 2 years now, it's pretty cute and if you've got nothing to do from 5 pm till dusk, I'd recommend it.
From the facebook page "there will be a Mini Faire. It will be on August 15th from 5pm to dark. Call the office at 913-721-2110 to sign up to participate!"
Sneak preview week! Whee! Be sure to tell us all about it Delireus!!
kcdcchef - to answer a previous question, definitely planning on being in Canterbury on Sat or Sun of Columbus Day weekend - let's definitely grab a crepe and a show!
LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Two weeks exactly until my first full day at KCRF. I"ll be out the Saturdays, but not 'til after 5 pm and (most likely) not in garb.
I can't WAIT!!! ;D
6 weeks for me. See everyone C-bus Day weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's looking like Columbus Day is going to be popular with R/Fer's in the lanes of Canterbury! Not counting any of the above posts, I have gotten 8 definite plans and at least that many more possibles for the 6, 7, 8 of October (Columbus Day weekend)! Let's keep this weekend on our calendar as a "MUST ATTEND" weekend!
october 7th and 8th are my planned days in canterbury. see you guys then. let's do a meet up on uncle jon's weekend I say!
One week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
I gotta wonder if Tamtaro is still looking so forlorn in her photo? ;) (I just love that infectious smile!)
I am so excited, I get to go THREE time to KCRF! We can usually only afford money and time wise to go once. My boyfriend's parents bought us Feast of Fools tickets for opening weekend (they had that special 2 for 1 on facebook a few days ago)
Has anyone ever been to the Feast of Fools? We never have.
OK, so after a few years of wanting to attend KCRF, we now have our chance since we moved to the area a couple of months ago.
I guess we'll be doing KCRF every weekend since my wife will be working at the faire with one of the entertainers.
So I guess what I really need to know is there anyone willing to show me around what will be our new home faire?
Sure thing, brother! I'll be there opening weekend. Saturday from cannon until the parade, then Sunday and Monday all day long. I'd be happy to show you around!

Yeah! Prob see me outside the gates before cannon. I'll show you guys around!
After missing KCRF last year my family is very ready for the season to start. We will be at the Irish Fest Friday night and Saturday and then off to the Faire Sunday. Hopefully we can drag out of bed early enough for cannon.
Welcome Cap'n Graybeard! Welcome (back?) Hunter Rose13! We have to wake up very early to make opening cannon from Columbia! Actually, it's the same time I wake up for work, but I like waking up for Ren Fest way more! ;D I can't wait! *happy dance* I'll be at the crepe stand most of the day ;D
Tamtaro you and I are meeting for a crepe this season, darnit.
David and I have not yet decided if we will do KCRF this year. We had our first official date there in 2006
DMRF, Riverssance and quad cities Celtic fest pretty much shoots the month of September and first weekend of October. Maybe 10/13?
IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE, IT'S FINALLY HEEEEERREEEE!!!!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Have a great opening day, those of you going, and try not to get *too* muddy! I'll be there around 5!!!!
HUZZAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a great opening day! The rain kept most people away, except for the die-hards. Luckily the rain stayed East of the beltway, so it was mostly sunny with a little drizzle. The lanes were muddy and (in spots) sloppy. I saw Tamtaro, Capt Hunnar Greybeard, and Gem today; and I only stayed until a little before 1! The season passholder line was the worst it has been in the last 3-4 years. It's always bad on opening day, but was exceptionally bad this year. Appeared to be multiple changes to the grounds this year. I look forward to my cannon to cannon experience tomorrow!
If anyone goes by the duxbury patio next to the wine bar and above the pond show, I'll be there playing flute every so often. Not terribly exciting, but I'll have my R/F pin on.
I've never been a mud enthusiast out there. However if it were my weekend to go, I'd go rain, snow, hail, mud, tornados, doesn't matter. I'd GO!
I made it out this past Sunday, my boyfriend and I saw the Feast of Fools, and then we walked around for a bit. The heat got to my boyfriend so bad that we went back to the car and he took off his leather doublet and bracers. We had worked outside all day on Saturday, and only had about 6 hours of sleep before driving from Manhattan Sunday morning that we left faire around 5, so it was a very short day for us, but still a blast!
So...I feel incredibly stupid. We were in line to see the new Mermaid Cove and I see this woman and I'm like "I know her from somewhere". My boyfriend said he had never seen her, but I KNEW I had. I assumed we had possibly been in a class together at Kansas State, but I didn't want to be weird and be like "do I know you?". So, I said nothing.
It turns out it was Aniroaldawen! I recognized you just from your profile picture here! I highly doubt even if I had said something that I would have figured out that it was from this site that I knew you, but how crazy is that? I realized it on the way home that evening. Loved your outfit by the way!
so how is Mermaid Cove and where exactly is it on faire grounds? I'm also curious about this new castle they're building out there!
Well...to be honest, I felt the Mermaid cove was somewhat lacking, but I do realize it's the first year they've done it and I can see it going far over time. It's actually just to the right of the Barbarian pit. There's a fenced off area, and a little path over a bridge, then you walk around a wooden fence and there's a pirate and a huge fish tank with a woman with a mermaid tail and some netting on. She sits/floats there, which I'm sure is very tiring, as she's basically holding herself up with just her arms. And then you walk out. It's very hidden, you can't see the mermaid at all from the main path of the festival, but there's a big sign telling you how to enter the path.
Here's a photo I found of the tank and girl
(http://media.kansascity.com/smedia/2012/09/02/23/06/glPoZ.St.81.jpeg)
I think it's got great potential though!
The stone castle is awesome! It's fairly small as far as castles go, but the masonry is gorgeous and I cannot wait for it to be done. It's around the elephants I believe. There's a very pretty fountain by it and some planted flowers, it's very relaxing. A man sells geodes to break open right by it.

Commence to arm-twisting! HA! No twisting required :D
Does anyone here happen to know the policy on guest cast? A friend of mine was told there are auditions, but I'm not completely buying that story, since I've never heard of auditions for guest cast. Any response is openly welcomed. :)
Despite the rain and the mud, we enjoyed our first time at KCRF. It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new people. Looking forward to coming back next weekend.

Cbus Sunday and Monday are my 2012 dates. So we'll hook up then!
Aw, Delireus, you should'v'e said something! Would have been cool to meet someone from here, I've only met a few of you!
Yes, opening weekend...was...hot and sticky...and super fun and I loved it even though I felt like I was gonna die on Monday! Can't wait til 5 pm Saturday to go back!!! ;D
I didn't make it Mon. Was there Sat open-almost 1. Was there Sun cannon to cannon (and had a few adult beverages between there!)
Had a great time, saw a number of familiar faces, and a few from here. I look forward to seeing everyone else as the weekends roll on!
Remember to keep checking back regarding Columbus Day weekend; we should be having a number of non-local R/F-ers in the Shire that weekend!

Well HECK YES!!!
I've got those days off, so am planning to have a tailgate (pre-cannon) refreshment prepared! During the day, I believe some of our fellow R/F'ers are already in coordination with the powers that be of the KCRF to be guest cast!
I'd like to suggest we all attend People's Court with the Lord Mayor at 1030 right up front (Merlin's Berm). It is completely unscripted, and the Lord Mayor LOVES to hear any and all matters that weigh heavily on the residents and visitors to Canterbury. Please feel free to have some sort of gripe to bring before the court!
Watch the KC thread here, we should be able to put some meet and greet together!
What are they doing with my berm? I've been looking EVERYWHERE for that!
For the visiting nobility from Larkspurshire, all things continue to be in readiness for Columbus Day weekend.
Our persons should be in attendance for Saturday and Sunday. And father and mother, the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk, are planning all three days, I believe.
We will all be fresh from our time in Santa Fe, which is this coming weekend, where we will be reprising our roles -- though interestingly one generation backwards in history. I will be my father, and he will be his father, compared to the roles we play at CRF.
The entire Howard Family is looking forward to it.
Surrey
The Duchess and I are looking very much forward to seeing our son and daughter-in-law play us in Santa Fe. Talk about your cognitive dissonance!
But we are looking even more forward to our weekend in Kansas City, which has been one of our very favorite faires for many years.
Ah, Father, your Grace,
It appears you have finally shed your disguise as the Baron von Schaumberg and revealed your true self. It was a wicked ploy to masquerade as the ambassador, but I have no doubt you have obtained valuable information we can use to advance the Howard family interest.
I do wish to point out, though it may be simply more of your clever scheming, that your picture is not appearing on the left... for me. Not sure why, and perhaps others can see it while I cannot.
Looking forward to being in your presence this Friday. Your dutiful, and ever overdrawn, son.

Aye, my son, thou hast the right of it. Methinks the fictional Baron hath his purpose served, and 'tis time he doth fade from the scene.
As for my portrait, it remains unchanged in my view. Mayhap others viewing this thread can'st advise upon which of us is correct.
Norfolk
It looks like my wife's cousin will be going w/ me to the Renfest. I have Robin Hood garb but this is her 1st Renfest. Is there a place to rent garb at KCRF?
i don't believe there's a garb rental there, but i could be wrong on that one.
tamtaro? butch? you guys know?
i know they have the photography places where you can put garb on over your clothing for a photo. other than that, not sure.
I do not believe they have any garb rental places in the lanes.
Well that's not cool. Big Renfaires could make a fortune w/ that. How many thousands of people fall in love w/ Renfaires their 1st time there & want to envelope themselves in it? Anyway, thanks for the info.
Pirate Bob and I are coming up for Sat and most of Sunday! Yay!!! Didn't think we'd make it, but we couldn't break our 15 year tradition!
Well you and Pirate Bob better come by Axel the Sot's stage. That is where we are most of the day since my wife is his CD wench.
