Title: iron/steel thread snips?
Post by: Naween on August 09, 2012, 06:01:25 PM
Hi All,

Excited to be coming down for the long weekend in Sept, and wanted to know if any of you have seen plain black iron/steel thread snips, like the ones in this picture, and who might sell them? (at faire or elsewhere in the greater minneapolis area)

Vintage Japanese Thread Snips (http://www.flickr.com/photos/westchestercycles/6819025949/) by Stockton350 (http://www.flickr.com/people/westchestercycles/), on Flickr

Need a pair for my Viking reenactment, lol! Hard part is they have to be one piece, with no screws/rivets etc!

Also, does the royal chocolatier have a website/contact info? I think I lost her business card again :(

Google 'shears' and you might have some luck.

The Smoke and Fire reenactor's catalog has them online for $3.50

You can find her on facebook here http://www.facebook.com/raven.hagen?ref=ts (http://www.facebook.com/raven.hagen?ref=ts) but she does not have any other site and I do not feel comfortable giving out her phone number.

If you want bigger ones . . . sheep shears are not markedly different . . . well, in color I suppose.

sheep shears  (http://www.amazon.com/AM-Leonard-ZL122-AML-Sheep-Shear/dp/B001FA9S70/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1344607601&sr=8-3&keywords=sheep+shears)

although these  topiary shears  (http://www.amazon.com/Berger-Angled-Topiary-Shear-11-Inch/dp/B002QB2HHA/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1344607732&sr=8-11&keywords=sheep+shears) are closer . . .

So worries Sitara - I'm fairly sure she'll remember me when I fb msg her - my husband and I have met her a few times at MNRF and being Canadians we stand out a little ;)
