Title: Blogging options?
Post by: Elennare on October 30, 2012, 10:39:01 AM
I have a couple of long-term costume projects I want to start working on.   I'm thinking I'd like to document the process.  Can anyone recommend a good blogging option for something like that?  The closest I've ever come to something like a blog was a brief experiment with Live Journal (which I never really did anything with), so I have no idea what's even out there.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Well
I am in a similar boat
I think it depends on whether you want to have the blog on your own domain or if your fine with logging into another site.

If you want to have your own domain I have been told that wordpress self hosting is one of the best option
if not,
blogspot (google based) is a good option.

Take that with a grain of salt.

Once you decide, make sure you share the link ;)

You should ask the seamstresses over in the sewing threads.  I believe several of them keep visual and blogged costuming diaries, some with fairly large followings, and could likely give you some very in depth information.

Wordpress, far and away. Super easy to use, easy to customize, all that. www.wordpress.com is their free hosting, but if you own a domain, you can point it to your wordpress.com account and use it like it's its own site.
