Hi all,
Getting my Outlook caught up for the coming Season. Adding NTIF, Scarborough and the Scottish Festival. I knew they had moved the Scottish games back because of the heat and now the same weekend is the Celtic weekend at Scarby.
Jim
Back in the late 90's, when Scarborough Faire used to run through the first weekend of June - which was also the weekend of the Scottish Festival & Highland Games - I used to drive to Arlington on Friday evening for the opening events of the Scottish Festival, spend Saturday there, and then head to Waxahachie on Sunday morning for the closing day of Scarby. It was always a busy and fun weekend!
Take Care,
David Baldock
I would vote for Scarby. I was disappointed in the last Scottish Festival we attended.

Sometime in the last 10 years, Alasdair Fraser stopped performing at the Scottish Festival, which means that one of the main reasons I enjoyed the show was no longer there. His solo performances, and jam sessions with various other musicians & singers (Brian McNeill, Ed Miller, John Taylor, Margaret Gravitt, etc.) were great fun to see and hear.

Three main reasons I go is for the Kildares (love rock and roll bag pipes), meeting with my Clans and shopping. With the conflict though turn out might be a lot less and maybe less vendors since Scarby and Arlington will be competing for the same ones.

My understanding, from the TSF yahoo group, is that last year, despite being in the middle of Scarby's run, they had an outstanding turnout. There honestly isn't a lot of crossover of Scarby and TSF vendors, actually, the only ones I can think of offhand are Medieval Moccasins and Twisted Sisters Braiding.
