Title: FEST FRIENDS
Post by: peggyelizabeth on July 02, 2008, 11:06:51 AM
The Fest Friends website is UP!
Please visit www.festfriends.org (http://www.festfriends.org) to get your membership info. The site is pretty simple for now, but we'll go a little fancier when time allows.

I've been looking at it with Firefox, so if you're using a different browser, and it looks funny, please let me know. You can Renmail me or email me at ladypeggy@festfriends.org

I just added the pdf membership form

a one-weekend pass will be available at the Glade, but not ahead of time. Kids are always going to be free, but they do need to have a parent or gardian with them. We haven't set the one-day pass price yet.

I know I'm missing some stuff, and that'll get added as I find what's missing.

Thanks Baron!
That's going to give you one of the first membership numbers!

What is the Midwinter Feast mentioned on the website?
Title: Re: FEST FRIENDS
Post by: peggyelizabeth on July 02, 2008, 10:22:17 PM
thanks gang!

The Midwinter Feast will be some type of dinner, about the time of year we're all missing Fest a ton. Sort of along the lines of SCA Twelfth Night, but on a less grand scale.

Website suggestion? Maybe a list of the booths that sell costumes, and or period props and accountrements?

Maybe a hard copy of the list could be one of the free spiffs available at the glade?

Will there be any sort of "Fest Friends Guest For a Day/Weekend" type thing for out-of-towners who will only be there once?

I do not wish to appear to suggest what FF should do as I have only just written out my check but...

I like this idea.  Seems the vendors are the reason the fair exists (be a pretty small site without the booths) but are often the last thing considered.  If FF is to support our fair how better than by helping the shop-keeper?

I will humbly offer my services to FF in any capacity FF see's fit.

Sorry Peggy, have to throw another question atcha..
How much will the "weekend" rates be, is it per person, couple?

Thanks!
Renren :)
Title: Re: FEST FRIENDS
Post by: peggyelizabeth on July 18, 2008, 06:32:07 PM
we are planning on setting it at a per person, per day rate, to make things easier.  since some people may wish to "try us on for size" before commiting to a full membership or since others are only visiting for one day, that seems to be the most fair.

BTW, I'm visiting Bristol and my in-laws this weekend, so if you don't hear from me as promptly as you think you should, that's why.

Me too Peggy.  I have a couple of "ren-ish" table cloths I can donate as well.  Long oblong ones that would fit a rectangular shaped table-the banquety kind.

A feather whipping is in order!

Choose Peggy...soon.

1. benches..not much different than faire ones
2. a couple of eight foot tables
3. about six Adirondack chairs

For those of you who are planning in going to the Aug.7th thing out at the grounds.. When you Rsvp you have to let them know what group you are with. I sent the email yesterday and I got a reply of them needing to know that. So..I jsut put "Fest Freinds" on it.. I think thats what group we are with right?

That should do it.
They just want to keep track of how many people are coming from places like newspapers or the hotels they exchange with, etc.

Probably wouldn't hurt to slap a coat of paint on them just to help make sure they don't get mixed with the general fest benches. For example the Royal Guard painted their benches green with a Tudor rose on the seat.

I am thinking black with the jolly rogers as well.
Title: Re: FEST FRIENDS
Post by: peggyelizabeth on August 03, 2008, 12:22:56 PM
there will be tables, and table cloths would be great!

After some thought & discussion, I think staining & sealing the benches will look better with the other things we have to use in the Glade. They're cedar for crying out load, there's little point in painting nice wood.

not that my two cents is needed but thats what I was thinking when I read ceder. Does fest friends have a logo that a person could stencil on?

Four down...two to go...and they just keep getting better.

The last two, are going to be outstanding.

May have some extra wood laying around for some end tables.

The fence around the Glade, Peggy?  Permanent structure?  Just curious.

Title: Re: FEST FRIENDS

the fence is semi-permanent-it will have posts that go into the ground and then the panels attach to the posts.

good work with everything. It really nice to be able to sit and relax in shade. It's going to be great for the kids especially since it's going to get near 90 tomorrow.

Thank you to all the hard work put into this.  It was really nice to be able to take the kid-lets there and have a clean place to sit.  ANd we got to meet some new people too.  Steve and I both feel we need to devote some time to fest friends.

I have to say the 'Glade' has become a new regular stop for me...I have already met many new fellow festies and rediscovered old friends.  Had a great time today, the kids really thought it was cool, they loved the lemonade (me too!).

I'll be bringing fruit for Friday.

To all Fest Friend members,

If you haven't stopped by "The Glade" lately please do, the 'Member Survey' is ready for your input, take few minutes to stop by and fill it out or If you would like you can also just pick up a copy and take home to fill out then just mail it in.

Your opinions are very important and will help shape the off-season events as well as the future growth for next year and beyond. Liz and Peggy are already working even harder toward a bigger and better off-season with next years exciting growth in mind. ;D

Anyone that has been by  "The Glade" knows I have spent a lot of time there (and haven't been kicked out yet I might add) so to me it's been a great first year, I have met many new wonderful friends and look forward to seeing it grow and develop.

since I know may of you are interested....

WE EXCEEDED OUR MEMBERSHIP GOALS!

We were hoping for 100 membership units/200 people and we ended Fest with 109 memberships and 218 people!

We're going to take a little time to to some laundry and finish compiling the survey results, then get some off-season activities planned.

Congratulations. I was by early on Sunday and you were at 99 memberships I believe. I am happy you passed your hopes.

And thank you for doing this and all your hard work !

Awesome news Peggy!

Thank You so much for setting all of this up.  You guys did a fantastic job.

I did forget to bring the mirror I promised to drop off.  I will put it on my fest list for next year, and drop it off the Friday before fest starts.

I have to say a huge THANK YOU!! to the Fest Friends. They welcomed me in, allowing me to purchase a weekend pass, dressed me, laughed with me, gave me a place to rest and recoup when needed, and generally put up with my antics. You'll never know how much having the Glade as a center point helped make my experience of Minnesota wonderful.

Fest Friends Glade was an amazing HOME at MNRF.  I loved having a place to go when I was tired of trying to find a place to sit and rest!  It was also a good place to meet up with other people I was with if we had gotten separated throughout the day.
We recruited several people throughout the season and have a couple of friends who are thinking about it for next season...

Thanks so much Peggy and Liz!
