Indeed, many patrons come in garb and some are quite impressive. PARF does have discounts available online. There are a number of events other than the Faire held on the shire in the months preceding the Faire. Check the PARF web site and Facebook page for more info. To get a taste of what the Faire is about, page through the various postings on the the PARF threads.

Once more Faire Season info is posted, there will be a list of "theme weekends", which might help in choosing your garb.

They oftentimes have discounted tickets available online and the people here are pretty good about providing that information as it arises.

Parf is a great fair I am sure you will enjoy it. It is pretty large (a bit smaller than Maryland)  It does draw good size crowds but not as wall to wall packed with people like Maryland gets. (when you oftentimes have a hard time walking about)

Many people dress in garb.

If you plan on staying in a hotel for your trip the Hampton in is right across the road from the faire and you can walk from the hotel to the faire quite easily.
