Title: July 26 & 27
Post by: Scotsman on July 08, 2008, 06:37:31 AM
Lady Guinness and I have cleared our schedules and plan to make the trek to Sterling. I just wanted to get a feel for whom might be there and what we should look out for.

Needless to say this is our first trip up & this will be our only "new" faire adventure this year so we are wicked excited about coming up for a visit.

I will be there too . Not sure  which day yet.   That is pirate theme  weekend  so i will be dressed as" Captain Amy"  from   my pirate ship  "  The Lusty Lady". I'll have my velvet  pirate hat,  my  black Captain's frock coat( unless it is hot out ), my red captains  vest,  my  frilly shirt, black  skirt, and boots  on.  I also have  aparrot  that goes  on  my shoulder    i  might bring.
   I think some of my crew  from the ship maybe  joining  me  too.
        I  know Clereon Swiftarrow  will be there,   and maybe   Beeboy.

  I'll have my RF pin on.

  Glad you can join us    Scotsmen.     Sterling is  a  great faire, and  pirate theme  weekend is always  a fun weekend.      Hope  to see you there !

Hi Scotsman & Lady Guinness!

So wonderful to have had the opportunity to get to know you both this past weekend at GLMF.  I too will be heading up to Sterling on July 26 & 27.....I will be arriving early Saturday morning and staying over to Sunday aft.

Will there be a parking lot party there too?   ;D

Hope you are able to summon the RF'ers for an invasion....!!!!!  Would be great to see some old friends and make some new ones.

Be well.....

Awesome lass! It will be good to see you again as well. I imagine Lady Guinness will have something up her sleeve for Saturday AM  ;) I too hope others come join the party, but we do realize in these fiscally troubled times that sacrifices must be made.

Good Scotsman,
Mistress Patricia and I, Maxwell, are there every weekend.  By then we'll be in our pirate characters, red and black.  I'll be wearing my kilt.  And if they are out of the game bag that is usually over my shoulder, our rabbits (puppets) Captain Jack Rabbit and his first mate Juliet should be hard to miss.
Magically yours,
Maxwell the Magician of the Bunny People

My Fiance {and probably my soon-to-be sister-in-law, too  ;D} and I will be there on Saturday {the 26th} in our Piratical best {same as last year unless a miracle happens and I get the skirt finished and a new chemise falls from the sky!} ! I'll be sans R/F pin as the wedding has pretty much taken up the part of the budget for 'extras' { Pirate's weekend is a NECESSITY  ;) }

Still, I'd love to meet up with everyone, is there a specific meeting spot and/or time, or should I just stick close to the pub and look for pins?  ;)

HUZZAH!!!

All is well. Lady Guinness and I plan to hit the road on Friday afternoon for an evening arrival. As usual, we will be in the parking lot early for our little tailgate. We will have our "usual" libations and invite anyone to join us for pre-faire tailgate. Those of you looking for us will easily find us out there early. It looks like gate is 1030 so we will most likely be in the parking lot between 0900 - 0930ish. We are looking forward to meeting the crew at Sterling. I hope to meet you all there. Until then, safe travels all!

Since we are traveling we are going to keep it simple as possible ... although it never is. We will have "spirits" and most likely some meats & cheese with a bread that will be good for breakfast & lunch sandwiches. Whatever you would like to add feel free. All are welcome and we usually have a pretty good time of it before gate.

Just FYI, the gates have really been opening as early as 10:00.

I'll try to get there early and keep an eye out for you.

I plan on being there either Saturday or Sunday. All depends on which day is better weather wise. Hopefully these storms get out before the weekend, but does not look that way. But heck, it is pirate weekend, and what is a little rain to a pirate ! I just don't want to be out in a lightening or wind  storm  like  we been getting lately ! ;D

Ohhh, thanks for the insight ... we will have to plan tailgate for just a bit earlier.

I have one comment about faire today.......just because it was "Pirate Weekend", I didn't think it should be taken so literally! My b.f.'s son, placed his 'flop' hat, that I made him, next to him on the bench. When he reached for it, some jerk, had taken it!  >:( Needless to say, he was somewhat dishearten! It can be replaced, but I just don't know what ails people!

***edit ~ Yes Amy....met some non~savory patrons... >:(..rude as can be. I held my tongue, which isn't easy to do!  ::) If the young ones weren't in ear shot... :o...lol! I am all for having a good time, but use some manners..... ;D ~***

Thats too bad Irish ! Poor kid. Unfortunately  on popular theme weekends like pirate's weekend  you don't only get your good hearted rennie's and pirates and  your well mannered  tourists, but you also get your  scums  who have  to ruin it for everyone.

We made it out finally around 3 pm {!} and I finally  got to say hello to Marie and see her shop - Marie, it was lovely meeting you and I will be sure to come back to visit on our wedding day! {August 16  :D}

Irish, Scotsman, Arianwyn...it's too bad I didn't get to run into any of you while we were there. We ended up getting there much   later than I wanted and then when the storms rolled in, my Fiance wanted to leave even though we hadn't been there long AT ALL  :-\.....

*sigh* ...at least I know we'll be going one more time  ;D

I hope to meet you Tygrkat. Is your wedding still at faire?
Take care........

We're absolutely still getting married at Faire! One of the first things we did when we got there was to look at the pavilion all decorated - we stopped out to see it before Faire opened and it was beautiful then, but it's breathtaking with all the eucalyptus wreaths and hanging flower baskets  ;D

We're getting married the Saturday of closing weekend, which is also my Fiance's birthday! {that way he'll never forget our anniversary  :P}

We probably won't make it to Faire again other than for our wedding, unless we win tickets or something, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

I will add his link here, if you would like to see what he has been up to. You can listen to his songs......old and new! http://www.bubboon.com/

Wow, i don't know if it was because of the nice weather,or the pirate theme but the faire was the crowdest i have ever seen it today.   Alot of tourists, and first timers. Not too many people in garb, which surprised me.  There were alot more pirates last year I thought. Despite the crowd everyone seemed well behave today. Atleast the people that i met.  I had several people ask me to pose for a picture with them since i was dressed to the hilt in pirate  captain attire and accessories .

yup - this weekend at faire was much more like "old times" - not as many through the gates as we *have* had; but a respectable crowd.

I got away from the booth to see the first pyrate show of the day saturday - then spent the rest of the weekend busy as a beaver keeping my minions working (kidding - they are a great crew and worked their butts off this weekend!)

Was there on Sunday, made for a bit of a lonely weekend.....gotta find me a companion to go with me..... :(  Wish there was a Renaissance/Medieval Dating site...

Trying to decide if i should go to Maryland, Pennsylvania or Ohio now.....

Be well all....
