I don't mean literally, but figuratively. My home faire takes place in an English town called Donnybrooke. Where are you when you go to faire?
New Market Village is where I play (because I cannot call the job I have there WORK) for 8 weekends in the fall each year.
Scarborough be the place I play in the Spring each year.
I work 5 weekends in Staffordshire as cast in the spring and then play for 9 weekends in the fall at Revel Grove.
Larkspurshire and in English Funny as Larkspurshire is in Larkspur HUMMMM
Hollygrove is home to MiRF
I'm in New Market in the fall and Scarborough in the spring.
The funny thing is that I looked up where the two places really were, and they're sort of in the same orientation to each other as the two TX faires are.
I tried to look up where Donnybrooke in England is on Google, but I don't think it's still around; that is if it ever existed to begin with. It's also a district of Dublin, Ireland. Here's the map of it in England:

Are your towns based on real towns that once existed (or still do)?
Bristol RF in Kenosha, WI. Based on the real city of Bristol in England.
What I consider my "Home Faire" is "Willy Nilly on-the-Wash" at ORF.
And, much closer to home is "Briarwood" at KHRF.
Every summer I visit the village of Avaloch (GLMF).
In the fall we visit Fort Royal, Martinique (STLPF) and Ye Royal Village of Albright (LARF)
Springtime has us heading to the Village of Covington Glen (TNRF) and the Village of Lyon (GSTLRF)
BARF becomes Fittlesworth.

I hate to tell you this love, but Donnybrook is in Ireland and always has been.

Regarding New Market and Scarborough, I found both on a period map of England, so they were real. Pretty sure both are still there today. Scarborough is kind of funny because in England, it's a port, but here in TX, it's completely landlocked - not even a pond on the site. We do get enough "pira-" uh, "privateers" coming through that I'm sure we consider ourselves a port.
My home fair is warwick in sterling NY, which is also a actuall place in england ;D
9 weeks out of the year (35 days an counting) we play in Revel Grove...everyday of the year, we play in our squirrel-filled back yard at the Elfwine Estate, Ocalan Forest...
my spring faire is in kingston upon hull. my fall faire is in fa irehaven. don't quote me on the spelling please! :P
My home faire used to be Stroud's King Arthur Faire but it has joined King Arthur's legend in history. Although I live in northeast Oklahoma & am closer to OKRF, I'm going to have to claim the Norman Medieval Faire as my home faire. The Medieval Faire is not a hard site but it's so much more enjoyable. OKRF has gone commercial & lost so many appealing things that it had just 5 years ago. There is no good hammered dulcimer music anymore. They don't fire their trebuchets anymore either. Too many of the acts are rude & crude now.
At Norman though, they have the wisdom to bring Tullamore all the way from KC to play. Their hammered dulcimer player is great! There are great dulcimer players in Oklahoma too which have played there recently. Norman also brings The Twisted Blades' ground combat/comedy group to their faire. The faire has a great atmosphere. There was a whole row of blacksmith tents this year. Several of us were intrigued & impressed by this compilation. The drive on Route 66 is quite scenic as well.
Next month, Tulsa will introduce the King's Champion Medieval Faire. Maybe it will take the place as my home faire. It will have to be moved to a cooler month to take the title though. If I can't spend 5 or 6 hours on the site, it's not home.
My home faire is the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, located in the Shire of Mount Hope.
MNRF has never really had a specific name for the village. It's just part of a "England-like" fantasy kingdom.
7 weekends out of the year I make my home at Hollygrove.Tis a pleasant place to be and a place where one never truly wishes to leave no matter how hot or tired.
My summer home is MiRF at Hollygrove, for as many weekends as I can shenangle.
I spend May in Covington Glenn(Tn Ren) Followed by short trips to Briarwood (KHRF).
Well since there are SO many faires/events here in S. Calif. it's hard to pick and choose which ones to go to.
But I since I live in north county San Diego, the Escondido Renaissance Faire is held twice a year, two weekends in the spring and two weekends in the fall.
(I never thought when I moved to Escondido there would ever be a faire, but now I virtually have one right in my backyard - ok I'm less than 10 minutes away.)
I also go up to the Ojai Pirate Faire held in Sept. (inland from Ventura, north of Los Angeles), and this year in August our group, Pirates of Treasure Cove will be at the Channel Islands Tall Ships Festival in August 8-10, so that will be a new event for us.
It is difficult to describe what "home" looks like.
For five seasons (1997-2001) it was Somerset, which is on the fringes of Suburbia across the river from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Trees hiding a small village
Then for four seasons (2001-2004) my home (where the handle was born at least) was in a remote hamlet in North Yorkshire about ten leagues inland from Scarborough, Maine.
Now I am looking for a new home. Some candidates are: a place I affectionately call Rievaulx because the Abbey might as well be the double of the place called the Cloisters. Another is Sterling-in-the-Forest, because I have not exactly instigated invasions, but there have been more than one that I have been a part of. Still another (in my dreams) would be port of call of choice, even though it is leagues from my post in York City, I dream of when I get back to Fairhaven. Nay, not the one near Plimoth, but the one near Queen Charlotte's lands.
My home faire is Kungston upon Hull, located in Raleigh NC
My home faire is Sterling Renaissance Festival, the peaceful village of Warwick. I'll raise my glass tomorrow!
NCRF is Kingston-Upon-Hull, which is actually Raleigh's sister city in England. Representatives of the actual Kingston-Upon-Hull have actually come to our Faire and presented NCRF with an official flag of their city.
I would have to say the my home faire is where my heart is and that is in Michigan so it would have to be MiRF however Des Moines' faire is my second since i live there.
MDRF-REVEL GROVE :D :D Theres no place like home. :D :D
The English village of Stellar's Grove (BCRF). I don't believe it exists in the mundane world.
Ravenshire, located in Palisade, Colorado.
Scarby! Is the place for me. Love it there. :)
MNRF. LD & I are adopting Bristol as our second faire..
For now my home faire would be VARF Staffordshire.

Our home faire is in Morelandshire in Pennsylvania. The greater pittsburgh renaissance festival. :D
My home faire is the MiRF, Hollygrove...a truly beautiful place. Its a weekend event we get up early to stay late.
MDRF takes place in Revel Grove, a village in Oxforshire county ;)
Morelandshire, home of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. Although, many residents of the shire pay frequent visits to Avaloch (Great Lakes Medieval Faire), which conveniently runs prior to PRF.
The Four Kingdoms Renaissance Festival (http://www.fourkingdoms.com) takes place in a small French village called Hartsdale.
Canterbury, about 30 minutes and 500 years from KC. We also enjoy a second home in Petit Lyon (GSLRF).
My home faire is NYRF, which is located in Tuxedo, New York.
My faire is in Southern California, and we call our town Chipping Under Oakwood.

Would that be the Pleasure Faire of Southern California that you call home or am I thinking about a completely different faire altogether? ???
New Market be my home in the fall, and Scarborough in the spring.
Canterbury (KCRF) followed by Petit Lyon (GSLRF).
I'm with Geoffrey WM and Cormac...Canterbury in the fall, Petit Lyon in the spring (well, and Port Royal, Martinique for a weekend in the fall). We be Midwestern river pirates.
I'm in Caer Leon, a town presumeably somewhere in SE England (Connecticut RF)
Our Faire is in the Shire of Mount Hope, a summer getaway for the Queen. Kinda nice, no?
Mount Hope is a delightful place indeed!
My home shire is Fairehaven in Huntersville, NC just north of Charlotte.
My home Faire would be The Pittsburgh Ren Faire also known as Morelandshire
I'm with Lady Mikayla in that Fairehaven (CRF) is one of my homes. Kingston upon Hull (NCRF) is the other.
We went to Four Winds earlier this spring and I noticed that it doesn't seem to be based on a historical village like Scarborough is.
Is this the most common trend in Faires these days?
When you visit the Northern England seaside town of Scarborough, ask any of the cast, they can tell you where the North Bay and the South Bay of Scarborough is located.
I visited Warwick, England, back in 1994. If I had my checkbook with me, I would have bought a 3-storey building in downtown Warwick built in the 1500's! I LOVE that place and plan on returning someday. they even had a Domino's Pizza. If you get the chance to go, stay at the Wheatsheaf and visit the Roebuck for a few pints.
I really love the new picture DonaCatalina. It turned out very nice. Where was it taken?

Scarborough has a 'Port' where the pegleg stage has a ship in moorings. It's just hard to see the ocean. :)

All Scarborough baby....
although I am contemplating trying others over the next year.
Lots of people to seem to enjoy TRF.... not sure anything can compare Scarby though.

My original home was called 'Tilly Fally in the Wood' before it moved 5 Miles North, and became what is now known as Hollygrove.
The last year at it's orginal site, there was a contest to name the MiRF village. Tilly Fally in the Wood was chosen, but the name was dropped after the move.
Sherwood Forest Faire is set in Nottingham. They even have their own version of
"Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem" (http://www.triptojerusalem.com/) reputed to be one of the oldest pubs in England.
Whittingham! (Country Renaissance Faire, Milton, Ontario)

We be located just outside of Glangevlin near the Shannon Pot in the Emerald Isle. Be a lovely glade wit a Fae Ring and magic abounds as all type of wee folk and human as well abide in our Spirit of Magic.
My home faire its the Minnesota Renaissance Festival! And proud of it! ;D

Kansas City Renaissance Festival is called Canterbury; but is located in Bonner Springs, KS.
