I thought fire doors had alarms? Or is that just the "emergency exits"?

I was thinking that too
And they guy at the service station... he didn't think twice about the 5 year old wandering in for a drink?

*as a kid, I probably would have headed for the rum store... it's always a comfortable homey place*

They just have to be unlocked during the business day.  Unfortunately, in some cases (like this one), that means it is possible for someone to get out without being noticed.  I do believe however at a daycare center these particular doors are only able to be opened from the inside to help protect the children from predators.
