According to the farmer almanac
September and October will have below-normal precipitation, with above-normal temperatures. October will be one of the warmest Octobers on record.
So if it's right, we may have a dry, warm fest season!?!?!?!?! :o :o :o
And the PTB have smiled upon the succubus if those forecasts are true. Someone knows that I like it WARM!!!!!!!!
Woo! Hoo! I'm getting married in October, so I'm glad to hear we wont be freezing our butts off.
I just heard on the news that this summer has overall been much cooler, with only 7 days above 90 versus 27 days last summer, so I'm hoping that means a cooler fest season as well.
From Accuweather.com:
Saturday, August 16: High of 83, intervals of clouds and sun
Sunday, August 17: high of 81, mostly sunny.
Sounds like a great opening weekend! Way better than last year, at any rate!

I'm with you DB. I am hoping for cooler season also! Sorry Esc!
Too bad fest could not stay open a little later into the evening. Last night at the Fest preview party when we go there it was still quite warm and I was quite glad that I did not attend in garb. But, after a little while, as the sun sank lower in the shy, it became really quite comfortable. Perfect faire weather.
Ya, I know towards the end of fest the sun sets a lot earlier then it does now, but it sure was nice out there during those last couple hours of daylight last night!
Well, as of this morning the weather guru's are predicting rain Saturday morning. All chant together, NO RAIN, NO, RAIN, NO RAIN!
Its great this morning and yesterday would have been a perfect day for fest.
Well the weather channels do not seem to be agreeing again....what is new. ::) Looks like we have a shot at rain all week except Sat now. Thou I know that will change several times by the end of the week. :o
NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN!
Pirates don't melt... If its like last year we might want to have some long boats ready. ;D
I saw the same report as Bacardi. Temps like really nice. Weatherman, the only job you can have that your allowed to be wrong 95% of the time.
Has anyone got pictures of the two guys mud diving last year?
No rain, no rain, no rain!!!!!!! Don't need a repeat of the lake we had in front of Foaming Stein last year on opening weekend!!!!
According to Weather Underground it looks fairly good. Only a 20% chance of a rain, and there's still time for that to go down.
I am so bringing grungy garb in case of rain and puddle diving....
The extended forcast from Weather.com now says
Saturday 77F and partly cloudy
Sunday 77F and 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms
*crosses fingers for no rain on sunday*

YaY!!!!! BEER....and wenches... ;) ;D
i guess i don't really care if it rains... it fest. rain happens there. last time i checked people don't melt. so i'm not to concerned about the rain.
Me neither, LD. Even if my boots just now dried out last week.
I think of rain as keeping the riff-raff out so the rest of us can play.
I only melt in the hot sun.( cause I'm so sweet ::)) but rain... no biggie!
Rain...no rain. Who can complain....it's going to be mid 70's regardless! Woohoo!

While rain makes it be a wet day, either way it's a day at fest one way or the other. We'll make our own fun, so long as it doesn't down pour. According to Fox9 this is what it says for Saturday so far.

You'll never be disappointed with the results of a well done NO RAIN chant!
Well done peeps
KILL THE PEEPS, KILL THE PEEPS, PEEPS MUST DIE.......sorry got carried away there (please look to the left under picture, for explanation). My nephew has been trying to do a rain dance for his lawn mowing business (he won't perform it for the rest of us though) Guess he was doing the wrong dance. Works for me though.

Even though I'm two weeks out, (Labour Day) prelimanary forecasts call for temps in the possible 90's!!!
Oh no...that just won't do.

Accuweather says this Saturday is supposed to be "Sunny and delightful" with a high of 78.
Sunday, 84, partly sunny and very warm
Monday, 84, very warm with times of sun and clouds.
Hope it holds for Saturday, maybe Sunday and Monday will cool off a bit....

or if they blow thru like this morning's did!
Most forecasts are now showing anywhere from 69 to 71 for Saturday and 72 for Sunday. Both days with a 30% chance of showers & thunderstorms.

Temps in the low 70's...Sounds like chain mail weather to me Sleepy!...
BTW...There was another FOP out there this past weekend. Too bad you missed him!..
Speaking of which, the word is the original MNRF Fops are going to make a cameo appearance, but I haven't heard when it's going to be.
Now that would be a heck of a day, with them and Sleepy in their garb.
It sounds like it is going to be a deliciously mellow weekend indeed! I can feel the full garb going on already!
This weekend is not looking to bad, once we get past Sat morning. Looks like a chance of rain up till about noon, then becoming sunny and around 73. Then Sun only getting up to around 65.....

mmmm...perfect tent sleeping weather. Nothing like day sleeping in a rainy cool tent snuggled up with lots of blankets. And the rain blocks out the sound of other people.
A little rain never hurt anyone....as long as it isn't the monsoon that happened last year! ;D
Time to spray to boots with weather proof.
Already waterproofed my boots luckily. But with rain comes mud, which means I won't be walking very much this weekend. Gotta be careful with the lower back.
We've been pretty lucky so far this year. A little rain ain't no biggie. But like Brandi said, please dear god no monsoons. That sucked last year.
Not to mention the fun of cleaning and drying out the garb constantly... after the final weekend MudFest last year it took me about three hours just to get my boots clean alone... my vote is for sunshine and 70's the rest of Fest ...
Showers in the morning, then cloudy in the afternoon. High 72F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%. This is from Weather.com as of 655pm
Hoping you guys didn't get too soaked.
A wool cloak does wonders in weather like this.
Watching the Notre Dame Michigan game with ice on the knee.
Yesterday was awesome, despite the rain. (And despite the fact that my boss scheduled me til 4 and never called to tell me.) Looks like today was a good day to skip though. I can do warm and rainy, but not cold and rainy. It's nice and warm here in the Caribou. :)
It is amazing how many stuck it out even with all the rain, lakes, and rivers ... MNRF diehards rock!
I ended up catching something Saturday. Couldn't even finish the show at the bar. I went out to the car and just ran the heater on max high for about an hour just to warm up. Then all day Sunday, temps all over the place it's high, it's low, couldn't make up it's danged mind. Oh well, that's life.

Yeah, Saturday was amazingly busy despite the inclement weather. Woot!
Despite the sputtering day that was Sunday, the Earl amd O trodded thru the mud.
Finally met Muffin, Koz(Mad Irish), and Peggy Elizabeth. You are great guys!!! Thank you for your welcomes and friendship. That means a lot to me.
]Hopefully Festival Friday(26 Sept) will be more cooperative for a better day of festing and feasting..
I think I'm still cold from Sunday!
I loved meeting Lady Kathleen in person, but the hems of my gowns sure took a beating yesterday.

What to do on slow, rainy days...
Collating our period playing card decks. One of the guys who works for us built some boxes to hold the individual stacks of cards to help assemble the decks
(http://historicgames.com/gamemakers/collating2.jpg)
Wait.....you get the cards unsorted? Would give a whole new meaning to "52 card pickup" if you dropped that box... :P
Well, not "unsorted" so much as un-assembled, each card is bundled in its own stack. We would have to pay our printer by the hour to get them already collated since they don't have the machinery to collate the decks that is used by the huge manufacturers of modern playing cards.
That's what makes these collating boxes so great. They have a slide-in cover to protect them and keep them in. Previously were were using the lids of the the kind of boxes that reams of copier paper comes in and the cards would slide around when we moved the box lids. Fortunately I also realized the old portable folding drawing table I had was just perfect to set the box on at a convenient angle.
