Watching a thing on the History Channel about Ice Cream...
Just wondering if any of you folks made ice cream using the old hand crank things?
Oh and btw...we all know where ice cream really comes from.

Yep , when I was a kid we kids would sit in the back of the station wagon and start cranking when we pulled out of the drivway. It would be just barely crankable and ready to eat by the time we got to the beach. That was back in the day when you could drive right up to the surf. Nothing like hand cranked banana ice cream.
I remember it as a kid. My job was to sit on top of the whole thing so the Old Man could really turn the crank. Froze my butt off - but it was always sooooo worth it! I don't care what they call home made - but I've never tasted anything as good as that ice cream was!!!
Oh I love those!! They make the BEST ice cream! Even a few years ago at summer camp we used those to make ice cream for the kiddos!!
Growing up, every fourth of July, my mother would havea family picnic and my father and my brother n laws ( i was the baby of the family ) had the assignment of taking turns cranking the crank on the ice cream maker.
ah, there is no better ice cream, then good old home made ice cream from a hand crank maker.
they did the hand crank ones once when i was younger some brillant person thought i should sit on it i don't know why wasn't my idea i kept wanted to get up and see if the ice cream was done
My Grandpa had one we grandchildren would take turns cranking the dem thing.
The ice cream was YUMMY though!
My favorite ice cream is Breyer's Rocky Road.
If it weren't sooooo bad for you, I'd eat it 24/7.
Oooo.. breyer's rocky road! My fave too!
