YES, I AM A BAD AMERICAN
I Am the Liberal-Progressives Worst Nightmare. I am an American.
I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some Liberal governmental functionary be it Democrat or Republican!
I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!
I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything.
I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English.
I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.
My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer.
I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it.
I've never owned a slave, or was a slave; I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already.
I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA .
If you were born here and don't like it, you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you.
I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?
I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them. I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it's good... And I'm proud that 'God' is written on my money.
I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.
I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause.
I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.
I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think.
I believe the American flag should be the only flag allowed in AMERICA !
If all of this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American.
We want to take our country back!
AND...WE NEED GOD BACK IN OUR COUNTRY!

Freedom isn't free!
We can never, must never forget it!
Yep...and I also believe that I shouldn't have to "press 1 for English"!
i liked these 2.. lol oh and the presing 1 for english on the phone and especially what ever button it is on the atm i am at.. its so annoying.
---- I've never owned a slave, or was a slave; I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already.
---- I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them. I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
as for that one.. my belief is if you run from the cops you are guilty as charged, shoot to kill, 2 bullets center mass.
;D all i have to say is AMEN!!!!!
and we could use a few more bad americans here

Some of those I don't quite agree with (I'm not religious, but if you are, good on ya, don't try to convert me, and we'll be friends), most I do, but I really like this one:
---- I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them. I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
As the daughter of a retired cop (injury from wrestling with inmates), yes. Innocent people don't run from the cops, they have nothing to run FROM. Clearly, you done somthin' wrong.

Not religious here either and in this country your free to believe as you like. No one should bother you.
I also think that I should be able to fly my pirate flag, family crest and the state flag along with the old red white and blue.

I don't believe you are a "bad" American.
By the mere ability to post your beliefs ...you are expressing your American rights...and that makes you "American"....albeit, in my opinion, ugly.
I don't agree with you but I'll defend your right to proceed in this world as you wish.
to respond:
"I Am the Liberal-Progressives Worst Nightmare. I an American."
Honey...you the meek tongued will never be a "nightmare"...please. We've dealt with much worse then you.
"I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some Liberal governmental functionary be it Democrat or Republican!"
Uhmmm....We live in a Capitalist society based on a Democratic Republic....get your political rhetoric straight.
"I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!'"
I'm happy for you.
"I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
"
This is only true if you are as smart as the gun.
"I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything."
Being a minority in the sense that you are using, does imply victimization by the majority. I, as a minority, don't expect much from you.
"I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English".
Is that also true when I'm in China buying a Big Mac?
"I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to."
Yes that is what we call "Freedom to practice Individual Religious Beliefs"....that would be a liberal thought.
"My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer".
Okay
"I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it".
You now have absolutely proven than you are above a 3rd grade mentality. Congratulations.
"I've never owned a slave, or was a slave; I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already."
I didn't own a slave either ...but many of my ancestors did...and it is a shame and a blight on American History. There is nothing wrong with recompense. But don't worry...I've no doubt that in all likelyhood your American ancestors weren't exactly the creme de la creme.
"I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA ".

"I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?"
No you don't get an "amen"...cause you already said we have the right to pray to whatever God we want, when we want. So is that statement only true when it agrees with what you believe?

"I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years."
I don't know how a ballot works these days either...especially after the Florida ballot of the last election.
"I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause."
Yeah.... I dislike those people too. Sorta the way I dislike this as well.
"I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents."
This is true...two parents are better then one. I support a Mom and Mom and a Dad and a Dad...and I as a member of the "village" will help any single parent raising a child too. Cause some of those "single parents" lost thier spouses in war. So in that case ...yeah I'll be part of that "village" that helps.
"I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think."
uhmmmm....lawyers don't make law...they interpret and enforce it.
Try voting to help change law if you don't like it....or better yet...run for office yourself.

Yep, as an atheist, I definitely agree. But that's why they came up with a wonderful thing called "Separation of Church and State"....well, that was the idea anyway, I'm not quite sure that exists anymore...but one can hope.
Personally, I wouldn't care if our money had a jabberwocky on one side, and bozo the clown holding up fingers to show the denomination on the other. Its just money. Its to spend. Its a barter chip, nothing else.
I do like how it used to say gold certificate, then it said silver certificate, now it just say 'In god we trust'. Guess we ran out of what the money originally symbolized, now we have to go on faith that its worth anything.
As for the rest of it, some I kind of under stand, some I Actually understand, and some I think is silly. As long as you're not hanging on my doorbell, insisting that I follow your beliefs, or using them as justification to hurt others, knock yourself out. The freedom to be yourself is what really makes an American. Period.
American presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt strongly disapproved of the idea of evoking God within the context of a "cheap" political motto. In a letter to William Boldly on November 11, 1907, President Roosevelt wrote: "My own feeling in the matter is due to my very firm conviction that to put such a motto on coins, or to use it in any kindred manner, not only does no good but does positive harm, and is in effect irreverence, which comes dangerously close to sacrilege... it seems to me eminently unwise to cheapen such a motto by use on coins, just as it would be to cheapen it by use on postage stamps, or in advertisements." Religion and politics! ARRGH!
But glad we live in this country and can discuss things freely and without rancor!
Let us keep it so!
I am a 12 year Veteran of the US ARMY, (SSG/E-6 Special Forces Medical Sergeant) I've fought in 2 different conflicts, I've rarely seen anyone who loves this country more than I...
3 of my sons were in the US NAVY, 1 still is.
So, I have to say that I am so very weary of reading these "I love America" rants.
I understand that you are very entitled to speak what's on your mind, I took schrapnel in both legs, to ensure that right for you.
However if you wish to be so "American", and express your very biased opinion, then go sign up, and support your opinion first hand, if not. let's just enjoy the quiet silence.
...does this make me the Bad American?

*Applauds* Well done Julianne!!! *chuckles*shakes head*
I'll add my relative 2 cents on one variant:
"I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it".
I know it's fake too. I happen to enjoy aspects of it's entertainment value. It's soap opera for men and a guilty pleasure. Good thing you don't waste your time arguing about it...because I'm still trying to figure out the relevance of even bringing it up in this trite, copied, spammed post. I've seen it several times before.
To whoever originated (not SWM) this rant - yeah, I served for you to have the right to trot out such biased drivel. I find it interesting then, by the criteria you espouse - that I, who DID serve to ensure your right, don't live up to your standard as an American. Nice!

Thank you for the sacrifice you and yours have made...I'll buy the next round should we meet at fest. As much as I hate this type of "political spam" the writer does have every right to express it, whether or not they served in the military. See, that's what makes this country great, no one has special privileges. That's also what makes our soldiers superior in my eyes to those of other nations, they get nothing more for their service than the next guy, often much less. Becoming a soldier is truly a selfless act.
Speeking of buying the next round, I offer any combat vet attending MNRF a mug-o-mead should they be there when I am. And if mead is not your style we'll have to find some good old stout!
Our veterans are my heroes, my hubby included.
Love you guys!
Amen Thank you to all who have served this country so that we all might be free.

This reminds me of an argument I had with a friend of mine a couple months back. He's a "devout" atheist, and over dinner we were discussing the finer points of religion. The conversation hit a bit of a snag when I told him I considered him only one degree off from a fundamentalist Christian. This, of course, did not make him happy, as he considers himself 180 degrees from such people.
I asked him, was he truly an atheist or simply an agnostic? He responded that he was absolutely an atheist. So, again, I told him he was only one degree off from a fundamentalist Christian, as Atheism, like many religions, is a professed knowledge of the unknowable. Christians just have one more god.

Heard something along the same line recently, an atheist was talking to a Christian and the Atheist explained that the Christian didn't believe in any other gods, and the Atheist said he was in total agreement with the Christian, except that he believed in one less god than the Christian.
It's kind of scary for non-believers though since a couple years ago Atheists were shown to be the least trusted American minority in a survey conducted at the Univ. of MN

The end of the line statement for me is that there is no such thing as a "Bad American"...sometimes we are ugly and sometimes we shine. It's up to the individual to decide where and when that may be.
Afterall is said and done I will always care for my American bretheren first and foremost and I will always support your right to say what you will. I personally embrace my ethnic heritage and I encourage all other ethnicities to do so as well because as a Nation of Immigrants that's just what we do here.
In the United States of America there is room for all kinds of thoughts and credos and beliefs....no one is ever persecuted for that...ever. If that does ever happen and the law catches them we do enforce our laws to the fullest extent. This hasn't always been true in our history and sometimes it is missed but I holdfast that we eventually do serve justice and all that is right however late it may be.
I thank everyone for their support on both sides of this issue afterall it is that freedom of speech that really does define us as citizens and occupants of the United States of America.
Amen
(all irony accepted as implied considering my previous posts)
He is something my son wrote 6 years ago for school. It helped him understand why I served my country for 12 years.
It applies to all Americans, good or bad.
My Freedoms are a Privilege
Webster's dictionary defines freedom as "the right to enjoy all the privileges or special rights of citizenship in a community or the like."
They define privilege as "any of the rights common to all citizens under a modern constitutional government."
We have these freedoms and privileges because the founders of our nation knew what it was like to live without them. There are people coming to America every day to learn what it is like to have freedom and privileges that they did not have in their own countries.
With freedom and privilege you can:
Go anywhere you want.
Travel whenever you want.
Attend any church you choose.
Most of all:
My freedoms are a privilege because of the people that have fought and died for our country.
I'm a bad american, because I want my kids to play dodge ball, without getting dodged by the school, cause they might get hurt.

Cap'n Hunnar, that's fantastic!
I always enjoy listening to others about political ideals and such. If we never did, then no one would have any idea about anything. It's discussions (so long as the people are open minded about the other sides opinion) that can form some pretty great things. After all, if we didn't, then the US of A probably never would have happened. We'd still probably be a part of the British empire or what ever empire ruled over the particular part of this great land we live in.
Exactly, Fig!
