So...
Should we have a 2nd annual Pirate day at 'fest this year?
If so, what day should it be? Pretty much any Saturday should work for me.
What say you all?..
You know, all those wonderful pirate coats at Beowolf got me thinking that I may just invest in some new garb ...
I was thinking the same thing Stormy. We should continue with our own pirate weekend as normal. But was trying to figure what would be the best weekend to do it myself? I think next Saturday is as good as any. Any one else.....Buehler.....Buehler......Buehler?
Any Saturday is good for me, although I will always be working until 3.
Last year we did this on the last day of fest during the much maligned Fiesta Weekend...
This year they dropped Fiesta Weekend (gee wonder why?)... The last weekend is "Sweet endings" Chocolate & Romance. Whats more romantic than pirates ;)
We could do it on the last day. Sunday Sept 29th...
Storm you brought it up so you get to set it up :) That how it works.

Did we really do it the last weekend of 'fest last year?..I don't recall...
But, that sounds like a great weekend to me. Hopefully, the weather will be cool, so pirate coats will be in play!
OK then...Last Saturday of 'fest (Sept. 27th) is on the table for our pirate day!
What say you all?!..
I can do chocolate pirate.

Actually...
The Bloodwake did attend last year. A few of them made our group photo!!!
BTW Jib...I will have the honor of escorting both my mother and my godmother at faire this weekend. I am hoping to get a good photo of them with you!..

We tried to get the word out to everyone last year. A good amount of people showed up.
Y'arrgh too darn cute!
Wow, look at all the tricorns.... I think I'll have to get mine just for the purpose of the pirate photo... darn! ;D
What time are we doing the photo? Unless it's after 3:00, y'all will probably have to kidnap me again...

AAARRRR!!!....for kidnapings. ;D I am sure we will get something worked out, but to far out to make those plans. Maybe like the Wed before that weekend...LOL
LD has a class until noon on this day so we have two votes for taking the picture later in the day.
Later makes more sense to me as well. Kidnappin be no problem either Charlotte Rowan. Whether we be needin to do it before, after or during. We can get it done.
I like that pic!
I just noticed a "lack" of Bloodwake Pirates this year (yeah Irish I'm looking at you!). Perhaps they all have the pox?
The more, the merrier.. or is it merrie-ARR, when we're talkin' about pirates?
Time to bump this thread up...
As for the picture. We actually did 2 last year. One at Mac's pub and one at Beowulf.
How does 3:00 pm at Mac's sound to everyone?
Sat or Sun?
I'm guessing Saturday since that's when most people come out?
Yay! Saturday at 3! Unless Tom randomly schedules me until 4 again, I can be there!
Fine, fine...I'll be a pirate on Saturday. Yarr! I was gonna do it on Friday but then this got bumped up and reminded me.
Aye!! 3......I will be in pirate garb. ;D Sorry Hon. :(
I suppose I might be able to find something "piratish" to wear for a photo shoot.
And after the photo we can set up for the calendar shoot... "Men of the West Indies 1609".

To quote the lovely Mae West, "Flattery will get you everywhere." ;D But nay, I am content just to be counted among the scurvy lot of piratical types!
Awesome turn out for the pirate picture today!!!
I can't wait to see it.
I bet there had to be around 40 of us there for it!
Awesome turnout indeed......
There be more and more pirates every year! ;D
I counted about 47 that I can see.
I missed the group photo...I totally forgot about it. :(
The "Dread Pirate Toar" was there in spirit :-\
Glad I was able to make it out....was the only day this season I got to wear pirate garb!
Yea, what was up with that? You were Earth tone DB all fest this year, Becoming one with the land now? :P
Nope. I know a few Bloodwake peeps were there who are not RF members (but should be!)
Ahoy, I'm new here and this is my first post. I've been working hard on my pirate garb for the last year and a half now. I have a few questions. Is there a forum for Minnesota Renaissance pirates that I don't know about? Is there a society of pirates that go to the Minnesota Renaissance that I can join?

As for the forum thing. I wouldn't say that there is a forum just for MN pirates, But we do have a whole section here devoted to pirates. Click on the link below to go to it. It's called Port of Call
http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?board=62.0
I know there are other forums out there too for pirates.
As for a society. I wouldn't say that there is a society per say, but there are a few "crews" here in MN you can find at the faire. Not really sure how you'd go about joining one of them. There are others here who can better answer that question.
A lot of us do pirate garb at the faire. The best way to get to know folks is to just introduce yourself.
Our MN forum group at faire is a very open and inviting group. Just look for the R/F pins on peoples garb and you will know who we are. Our group is not pirate exclusive (though there are more then a few of us who do pirate garb). Any are welcome in our group.
Welcome Gibbet!
Welcome Gibbet Jones, I know also of a group called the International Fellowship of Royal Privateers:
http://www.ifrp.org/
I know that Dead Bishop is the pirate lord of the Blatherscythe I think it's called which is a MN based ship. But outside of that I'm not sure. Just ask DB and he'll be happy to help I'm sure.
There's also the Pyracy Pub (http://pyracy.com/index.php), which is strictly dedicated to all things piratical.

In addition to the Blatherscythe there are members of the Bloodwake and Portobello Rose out there too, as well as one other crew I believe, but I can't recall the name of that ship off hand. Some of them made the group photo too.
Then, of course, there are the Privateers out there also. Though, I didn't see them nearly as much this year as I did last.
