Just a reminder that I will be invading OHRF on Sept 13 & 14, along with Athena...Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new old friends! I think there are others from R/F.com planning to invade as well.

Don't mean to be a stick in the mud - but isn't ORF the one that uses actual policemen as parking attendants? If so, we will need to be VERY surreptitious about imbibing.
You and Lady G going both days?
Likely the please-men will be otherwise occupied.
May I suggest a retitle for this thread to RENVASION!

That subject is up for discussion ... a little bribery wouldn't hurt ... we have yet to confirm total plans ... but will keep you informed!
It'll be lovely to actually meet everyone this year. ^.^
Especially those with booze. ;D
If my partner in crime and I manage to actually get out the door without having to go back for anything (note: this is not highly likely) we might be there by 9, coffee in hand.
I'm gettin' excited!
We will bring some Champange and OJ .
I'll try to be there a bit early to join in the opening festivites. I will also have a special gift to give our new queen!
We should all plan a time to see Her Majesty, since she is an R/F'er as well as a Castleteer! :D

I can't wait to see the new Queen!
Beer ... money ... flogging ... you had me at beer!
Actually, it will greatly depend on Lady Guinness, she decides my schedule - all I need is a pub. As you may know, last year we did OHRF on Saturday and Pittsburgh on Sunday. I guess her decision will rest on what the plans of the PRF crew are ... I will speak with her and get some resolution.

Please say hello to Sir Shanton and his wife Ashli for me. Oh, and beware of Sir Cledrith if he is there, how this individual attained knighthood is beyond me, This man could charm a lady out of her ahhhh better judgement as it were.
Just thought I'd chime in too...planning to be there, although not until early afternoon. (Gotta get the young archery department to 9am ball game and dropped off before we hit the road). INVASION '08 - bring it!

P.S. just heard my first radio commercial for ORF... we're close!
Ok, I have been given my marching orders by the Lass. Although I protested profusely, it looks like you guys are stuck with us for both days of faire ... I know, I know, it sucks ... but what Lady Guinness wants Lady Guinness gets ... now all of you have to pay! ;D
Is is September yet?
This is gonna be so much fun!
BLAKDUKE, will pay your respects as requested...Thanks for the warning re Sir Cledrith, but my heart's spoken for.
Scotsman & Lady G! Huzzah! This time I can actually just enjoy both of your company a bit more than when you were here in TN.
Old Tinker & Belle, will love the chance to also spend more time with both of you and get to meet more of the ORF crowd.

I am field testing something new this weekend for our invasion here at MDRf ... Bloody Mary's ... if they go over well, you can expect them at future Lady Guinness tailgates.
BTW ... has there been any discussion of tickets for invasion ... I would like to take care of mine early if possible.
You can get advance and discounted tickets here. http://www.renfestival.com/tickets.html
Tickets at the gate are more expensive.
I believe you can purchase, then print a receipt, take that receipt to the Will Call booth and there you have it.
Krogers has in the past had discounted tickets as well....but not sure if that is true this year or not as I have not heard anything yet. Some of the hotels http://www.renfestival.com/asp/lodging.aspx offer package deals too. Tink, you mentioned this but I think in another thread....can you help me out here with this please????

Once again, the world just became a little clearer. This explains a lot!
In other news, the archery department will miss the morning gathering/tailgate in the parking lot. (I am assuming there will be one--as there was one last year) I shall look forward to a friendly game of "catchup" with you all at the pub in the afternoon.
With the "weed puller U ME" discussion in mind...let's not assume anything. Last year there was an effort to set times to 1) Meet in the parking lot before the gates open, 2) A "lunch" time/location and 3) a time to meet at the pub for a group photo...3pm on Saturday I believe it was. Shall we try to arrange anything? Thoughts anyone?
Sounds good to me ... but expect little. Typically time escapes me once I walk through the gate. Unless I am tethered to someone Lord knows where I'll end up ;D
Lots are being drawn to see who gets to babysit...er....monitor you, dear Scotsman...short straw loses...er....wins...er....whatever!
It appears I will have to work part of my Friday that I intended to have off to enjoy a leisurely trip to southern O...but Dwyn and I will be there none the less in the morning, bright eyes and conditioned horsetails! ;)
With all that has been happening at work....a good dose of "Faire" and "Faire Family" is just what the Doctor ordered to be sure!

I still have the R/F.com banner from the RenDevous and can bring it...No longer have the erstwhile 10-foot pole, though. A few well-placed R/F'ers can replace it however, although it takes away the grand opportunity of using it as a visual pun.
"A few well-placed R/F'ers can replace it however, although it takes away the grand opportunity of using it as a visual pun. "
I would suppose that would depend on the R/F'ers and how the banner was affixed to them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone....9am...eh??? Ok Scotsman....we will actually try to be on time!
I will be there... not at 9 am, though. Thats just too hard for us to have the baby up and together and out of the house.
Firstly,if anyone sees a pirate running about with a bone on a string (that's King Henry), give a gentlefolkly greeting to my friend Tim MacDuff.
Also, if it ready and I can decant it, I shall bring my world-famous Cherry Bounce to the Castle.
And to conclude, Alas, for community theater has swallowed my Renn gear in a production of the Scottish Tragedy, and you all may recognise me by my alternate, The Sultana Fatima. I shall be travelling with my sister, Imestra, and her Rogue, Curtro, and the young squire, Eric the Brown...

on the topic- "Our New Queen Elizabeth", our Queen (Lady Riddle) has informe'd us that she has a window from 2-3 pm of wonder'n time. this would be the time we would have to arrange a group photo if we wish her (Queen Elizabeth AKA Lady Riddle) to jion us.

as far as the Pic taken outside the gates- me Belle and me want to be at the gates for our support for our Lady Riddle's new position. if the photo was plann'd for say 10 am (30 minutes prior to open'n of Gates), then we would not interfere with "Open'n of Gates". what say all of you ?

first- there's CapnFayeCutler (if she did not use all her magic clear'n this past weekend), shall have a conference with Mother Nature (they seem to have a very good relationship when it comes to weather). Ratman & Bobin be correct.
second- there is the mantra that our Viking Mama, Ragna has remind'd us of-
"Hey Tink.....fair weather no rain; faire weather no rain, faire weather no rain."
and last'ly but the most important - if you and Dwyn are present, everything is beautiful.
to serve thee, makes us happy ;D
dearest Imestra, be ready to make some changes to that forcast, see thee soon.

As crazy as this may sound... I'm okay with rain... really, I'm perfectly okay with it. But oh my.... 74 degrees... lovely...that will be soo wonderful... I would even take 64! (I love when the weather is cooler)
good weather, rain, hot or cool,
the most important thing is that we all get to "Gather",

Most assuredly, Dwyn and I care not if it rains for your fellowship and love will always make the sun shine in our hearts...but "My Dear Mothers Pub" (The Aleing Knight Pub) has a tendency to take on the properties of a famous movie "A River Runs Through It" and the current almost always runs right past the place where many of us settle in for music, wit and convivial companionship. Still...coolish temps are most welcome! (We've been there in sleet!) and donning a cape and wearing the heavier of our garb envelopes us in warmth, as does your smiles and friendship, dearest Tinker and his Belle!
I remain yours ever,

I will be doing the anti-thunderstorm dance, and the anti-torrential downpour dance.
I wouldn't -totally- mind a little rain, but would prefer if it were just cloudy. (If ye couldn't tell, my skin and the sun aren't the best of pals.) And I'm with FortuneRose on the temperature. ^.^
I can't wait!
According to the tome known as Ye Old Farmer's Almanac, this region of the country should have
for the period of 9/11 through 9/14;
Showers, then sunny & seasonable.
;D
Good Tinker, I begin herewith my petition to the elements.
Rain??? SHORTER PUB LINES! :)
not to mention ...everything is more fun in the rain...hehehe
Oh no!! This is the only day I get to go to faire this year, and it can't rain!!! D:
*shoos the rain away*
Rain keeps the Drover out! Bring it on ... the faire will be all ours ;D
I'll get on top of that weather situation, never fret! Maybe it will be like last Sunday and rain well before gate and cool things off, then let it be clear for the rest of the day. That worked out pretty well. ;D
Rain, as Scotsman so eloquently put, will kepp the drovers away. As far as the rain and cooler Temperatures...just means I get to wear more Garb!!!
I am very much looking forward to this weekend and being back to Willy Nilly...3 Days to go!!
We emailed ORF to see what time the parking lot gates open and here is their response.

Hmmm, better pack the flask, as rain makes for excellent flask weather. :)
My wife also spoke with the ORF folk, and she reserved the space near the pub between 1PM and 3PM in the afternoon of the 13th just for the "Castleteer's" enjoyment, and possibly Photo Ops for the Queen...

We hope too !! It would really suck for those of us that arent "Castleteers" to get left out of an event that we all have been trying to organize these last couple of months for our
R/F invasion. We thought the "Castleteer" thing was after the ORF

our friends, me's is sure that the Honorable Angus was just us'n the term "Castleteers", in a general speak'n. me's also think that if his Lady has set it up, she intend'd all to be include'd. fore, as thee read my last post there be also a KYRFHighlanders Invasion, and many of them are R/F'ers and "Castleteers" also, like me Belle and me. Ratman & Bobin, you be right in say'n that the "Gather'n" for thee "Castleteers" is after the OHRF Invasion. but we are still "Castleteers", and when thee have the chance to come to one of the "Castleteers Gather'ns", you shall find out why we are proud to be call'd "Castleteers", the "Castle" is amazing, and it was built by just one man.
see, we are all one big fair'maly, we all love ren fest, we all (well) love ale, we all love Loki ;D, and we all prefer Garb over mundane cloth.
so's, everyone fill there flask, polish thy mug, and we shall make this weekend one to remember,
Oh and not to mention the two that celebrate there 22nd Wed Annv. ;) :-X.
good day to all,
we are round'n the bend of this week,
which means- Invasion (or whatever you want to call it) is very soon,
we be loyal to all (yes it can be done),
i be the Old Tinker and his Belle...
Without a doubt ALL are invited!
A name had to be given to the ORF folk, for the reservation, and we chose "Castleteer's" just for simplicity.
No offense was intended, no exclusion was meant. I am keenly aware of how some information get spread around (word of mouth at the pub, overheard at the Privy, at some shows, over a mug or two...) so I knew that all would hear of it...
...and well, despite the great efforts of Capt. Faye, and others with dry intentions, to delay the fall of rain, we may have a shower or two, so perhaps a covered area will assist in keeping our drinks less diluted with water.
So, my dear friends Ratman and Bobbin fear not, you are most invited to join us, we would never exclude you.
...nor do we mean to exclude anyone, be they R/F'ers, or KyRFHighlanders, cast, or crew, or even those "tricksy" Pirates.
Only one more day of mundane office for me, then Friday to prepare for the journey to Faire. 8)
Long have I toiled on planning and favor-craft and haberdashery. Time to kick back and cut loose!

Oh! and never would this happen, Darling R & B! No Castleteer would allow such an occurrance, 'tis contrary to the Castleteer way.
;D :D
Castleteer though I am not (as yet) it will be fine to spend the time with them under the "cover" - it will be most fine to FINALLY meet Angus after several years of viewing him from afar and not realizing who he was....
And of course, for all the rest of the R/F'ers two more mundane days, and then Faire it is..... bring it on!
Only four hours of work for me tomorrow (Thursday is always my Friday, and almost always only 4 hours long), then I can begin the gatherin' and preparin' of various things I need for Faire. Amazing, innit, how the contents of one small pouch can be spread so far over the course of two weeks? Jeebus.
There will also be much plottin' and plannin' betwixt my Courtney and me. Not that we've not done quite enough already. xD But there will be some special anti-thunderstorm dances. While I mind not the rain, I'd rather not be caught in a torrential downpour. =D

R/F.com banner is in the dog limo already...Bags are packed full of garb, music selections for long drive are ready to go...Now I just gotta get there! Any plans for Friday night anywhere in town? And is ORF on eastern time or central time? Someday, I swear, I will get some sleep. But not this weekend. At worst, see you all at Scotsman and Lady Guiness' mobile tavern in the AM on Saturday!
Gotta wash the garb, then pack the garb, then throw it in the E-Nox. Then just gotta suffer through 8 hours of work (okay it isn't bad actually), then back here to pick up the E-Nox, then off to Louisville tomorrow night! :o ;D WOW! I gotta do laundry NOWISH!
There is a Celtic Festival in downtown Cincinnati, on Friday evening, (we are attending) and I believe that they are on Eastern time.
Ooooh, fun! Like I said, I'll sleep some OTHER time. Thanks for the time info.
Pssssssssh! What is this sleep you speak of!? Not much longer!
Going into work for a few hours tomorrow and then I gotta plane to catch at 11:45am. So far it doesn't look like Ike will squash my plans. San Antonio should be ok.
I work at the airport I can look across the tarmac and see if we are grounded.
Lu has been in Sidney Ohio all week.

All packed and ready to launch! We hit the road around 1300 and plan to put MD in the review by 1500. We should make landfall around 1800. We don't want to be guided in by the stars.
We shall see you all at tailgate (hopefully) in the AM. Lady Guinness and I plan to be there around 0900ish. We'll save one for you.
Safe travels all!
*Feeling giddy* 5 more hours till we roadtrip.
An eight-hour workday stands between me and the Friday night pre-game including, but not limited to, garb gathering, packing, archery practice, etc.
It seems there's a party at my house tomorrow night while I'm gone. (Jinx's hubby says: GO BUCKS!)
So, with all that testosterone in my house, I'll be glad to not be here. XD
However, it has turned my day of laundry and gathering things needed for tomorrow into a day of laundry, gathering things needed for tomorrow, cleaning the various bits and things from under the futon (since I'll be taking the mattress), cleaning the kitchen, and cleaning the bathroom. It's a good thing I have the roomie to help. XD

Work day is over.....LET'S ROLL!!!!!!
We had a great time this weekend. Just a quick post to say that Donna & I made it home. It was an adventure.
Glad you made it home ok Quiet One! I'm sure that WAS quite an adventure!
Just got my power back.
I had a blast will you guys this weekend! Thanks for the great times :)
Just got in... Sooooooo tired! :)
Yep - we just "blew" in ourselves.... what a blast of a weekend!
Glad to see that the ones who left yesterday all seem to be chiming in that they've made it safely home. Please post and let us know, those of you who have yet to do so when you can.
Athena and I saw lots of wind damage in Williams-whatever and we had no power all night (may even have been tornadic, since a couple of trees were uprooted). Luckily, they kept their heads from rolling by making sure that they had giant thermoses of coffee for us in the morning, despite the lack of anything else needing electricity.
I had a lovely time with everyone, may we all meet again!
Thanks to all for making it a wonderful time. We (of course) have returned home safely. Now that was some wind. (no I didn't mean you Scotsman) LOL.
As posted, we got home safely (with a little adventure).
We even made a song up about the corn stalks blowing across the road to calm ourselves down. xD
"Cooorn freeeeee, free as the wind blows...."

Oh...*sheepish look*...sorry about the crankiness this morning. I really did feel like I'd hurt someone if I didn't get my morning cup of coffee. Yep, I have a bit of a caffeine addiction. :)
I had a great weekend and am glad to hear everyone made it home safe and sound!
I made it home around 8PM. Sometime Sunday the power went out and didn't come on til almost 11 this morning. Then a couple hours later the internet came back on. I think my route home went around the storm as I didn't experience much wind after leaving the Cincinnati area and very little rain.
(Pardon the copy/paste from the "Weekend Weather" thread...I'm just too tired!)
I have a feeling I'm not in Kansas anymore...oh, wait...I didn't start there to begin with!!
Well...Mehan, Ewan, Dwyn and I left the Faire (unwillingly, trust me, but we were told that the Faire was closing and refunds available) on Sunday afternoon saying our "Farewell until the next time" to our wonderful friends from Maryland and Pennsylvania (Lady Guinness, Scotsman, DuCouer, Syrac,,,as well as our "local" friends..."WE LOVE YOU, MAAAAAAN!!") The drive back to Wilmington seemed almost SciFi with no power to the small towns we passed and trees, branches and leaf derbis scattered about. (Did my eyes deceive me or did the big sign at the entrance to the Faire also come down??) The Wilmington Inn (as well as the rest of the city) had no power and no place open to eat...FORTUNATELY...we thought to bring cheese, beef log, crackers and wine (as did Mehan and Ewan...great minds, what can I say?)....and while the wind howled we had a cozy lil' repast in our makeshift "Pub" at the Inn on a picnic table in a breezeway. Odd going to bed with no power and waking up to the same (This is supposed to be the Renaissance...Age of Enlightenment...NOT the Dark Ages...Hellloooo?) but we managed fairly well (NO COFFEE?! :o) Driving up north we took stock of the damage up here as well and in parts and places around us, there is still no power but we weathered the storm with just a few branches down.
It was a hell of a wonderful weekend seeing you all at ORF and I apologize to many of you that I didn't say a personal "Hello" to AND to not thanking GingerKat for the wonderful picture she made me and her parents delivered when they came up to GLMF! I was hoping to spend more time with you all on Sunday...but it seems Mother Nature had her own plans.
I hope you are all now safe and sound at home and once more, Dwyn and I thank you for showing us a wonderful time at a Faire that has certainly won a place in our hearts as it was our first Faire we ever attended now some....19 years ago? :o
Merry Meet, Merry Part, and Merry Meet Again!!
I remain yours ever,
Captain Morgan Dunne
I am so happy to see that everyone has made it home safe. We ended up staying overnight in Washington PA, the wind was incredible and we were so tired that we had to stop for the night. This after having dinner with two great friends. Finally made it home around 0900 and to work by 1100. Thank you everyone for such an awesome weekend. It was a wonderful anniversary thanks to such special people. Thank you all for the thoughtfulness and yes...thanks for all the ALE!! Take care and huge HUGS!
Ditto what she said.
This weekend will go down as one of our best faire weekends ever! We cherished every moment we spent with you guys. Thank you for making our anniversary so special ... simply flawless.
to all me Belle and me want'd to say;
have we ever enjoy'd a weekend as we had this past one?
Nay, we say, such good peoples, such little time,
seems that even thought the time tables are thee same,
each time we visit a fest it keeps seem'n shorter.
to all we met, to all we know, to all that we talk'd with, to all we had not the chance to talk to,
to all that we share'd n ale, to all that we plan'd on share'n an ale, to all of you,
thank you for your presence,
we could not have had a better time,
i be the Old Tinker and his Belle...
After being "Blown" out of Faire. We started our Trek home, Following Scotsman and Lady Guinness.
From Wilmington all the Way to Zanesville...No power and my poor ol' car was running on fumes (and it was not from Syrac eating a pickled egg). We finally Fueled up at Zanesville, had a wonderful dinner with Scotsman and Lady G and made it home by 11.
Once more I had a wonderful Time at this Faire. It is my Third year and it just keeps getting better. You Ohio people sure know how to run a Faire (Maybe you could lend a hand to Pittsburgh).
Hope all are safe. Had a beautiful time at a Beautiful Faire with Beautiful People....

A blustery weekend at Willy Nilly indeed! We were so happy to see so many R/F'ers invade the shire! We had to leave early Sunday, it just wasn't worth the risk. We passed a blown over semi on our way home, once we got home and got the car unpacked, out went the electric, and it is still out......so we are at the hotel for now. Just wanted to thank everyone for a wonderful weekend. We will be sharing pics, and some video, once we have our power back.

Thanks everyone I had lots of fun meeting everyone and seeing familiar faces!
Gimli and Cara - Thanks for coming to get me from Cinn & for everything else - I hope that door didn't break :D
Scotsman and Lady G - As always a great tailgate and conversation -
Old Tinker and Belle - I think you could tell by the bouncing how happy I was to see you & thanks again for your kindness
Delacour and other velvet hosen - Pickled Eggs - Go for the sinkers not the floaters!
It was a whirl wind weekend and I pray everyone got home safely -
I want to extend a greater thanks to Russell for his act of kindness - I did get stuck overnight and made it home around 11am Monday -
It really doesn't matter because I wouldn't have gotten out of Ohio & Kentucky without you!
I hope everything was able to be repaired and people didn't get hurt
