Why are we here now? what happened to the other page-y place?
*is frightened of change* ???
........... :'( nobody tells me anything :D
It's okay, Lady Remi... I don't know what the heck's going on either. Oh well, that's not new for me! ::)
Glad you made it here
This is a test post. Had this been an actual post...
Hi Lady Remi- is that you? Hi a_chromatic_sea- is that you? I feel like a mime who actually is in a box, but glad we have at least this... I just miss the old posts.
The server on the other site went down. Apparently it wasn't due to hacker activity, but I don't know the actual cause. Needless to say the other site is dead and John is trying to either rebuild it or find us a new place and hopefully bring over all the old posts. I've been trying to pass around the word over myspace and whatnot, but I'm sad that there's apparently so many of us who don't know what's going on. Apparently if you go to the old site it redirects you here, so that helps I guess. I miss our old house!
Thanks for signing back up. We're going to make this better than our old home!
I miss our old house too ... but change can be good. We will make it good!
I used to move around a lot when I was a kid, so this is just like the good ol' days! Haha. I think we'll do okay here. :)
*looks around*
*blinks*
*RUNS AROUND NEW SPACE* WHEE!!!
Er...ha! Anyhoodle, I get busy for a little while and the universe changes on me! Wow!
Here I is.
;D
So... Not to be a neerdowell... but am I the only one who kinda' hates the new layout? It's so much less... something... straightforward, perhaps...
Not at all, I just told Demitrius the other day that I really dont like this new layout either. I liked the other one better.
Yeah, I can't find anything. And you've got to scroll forever to find the CO faire forums. Weird shine. I wish they could retrieve the original formatting somehow. Or at least use something closer to it.
The big problem as we all found out with the old format is it was so easily hackable. Not sure why except maybe it was because it was on a Windows server and had very unsecure code. So far this site is stable... Knocks on wood or in this case my head.
Yea I liked the old site to, but I will not complain with this one, because IT WORKS!
I really don't find much of a difference other than colors and all that, perhaps because I'm used to different types of forums? I dunno. This seems pretty standard to me. You had to scroll pretty far to find the CO forums on the other one, too, so it doesn't bother me too much. Of course I'd rather have the old forum back for posterity's sake, but like Lady Delaney said, this one WORKS! Haha.

Oh, Lady Remi, I thought you were talking about the new Pirates pub. Like I told Pirate Zoe, I was shocked to see they took out Pirates Pub and replaced it with a small hotel, a taco bell, and an exercise area for Zoe's hamsters. I don't think I'll tell her about the hamster launch (I think this was Sean Daniels idea, but don't quote me on that).
:-\
You are halarious demitrius.
Y'know, the ironic part is that they actually did just replace the Pirates' Pub stage. I'm super excited! It's SOOOOO much nicer than the old one!

Yeah, but they replaced it with foam... go figure! Wait, which stage was that?
Neat! I didn't know they were working on replacing the Pirate's Pub stage. The old one wasn't too bad, but I can't wait to see the new and improved version! Wooooo!!
... ELEVEN DAYS AHHH. So exciting!
The new Pirate's Pub stage is great - or it will be when it's done! It's larger & higher and there is now a *small* inside "backstage area - but the only door into it is onstage - oops? This year is going to be soooo much fun!!! ;D

Ah yes, but with an inside backstage area won't it be difficult to see the audience?
It's a new school of theatre, influenced by the internet, cell phones, and text messaging. Virtual theatre they're calling it. We don't actually need to see the audience.

Do you even need an actual audience?
Gad...I have visions of mass text messages of "You smell funny."

As a future teacher of the dramatic arts, this makes my soul hurt a little bit.
Having played in original rock bands through the years, I can say NO, No audiance required. I've played in front of None, and I have played in front of hundreds. I have even played (on the radio) for thousands.
I will admit the best shows were the bigger ones as you feed off the energy of the crowd. When you play for none, you tend to experiment and use it as a live practice.
I like the idea of Virtual Audiance... it fits one of the songs I wrote a number of years ago when playing Virtual Reality.
Better yet, play behind a rock wall so all the crowd can see is rock. HAHAHA Rock Wall Concert!

Ouch! That hurts! - Be careful of the headbanging!

If I didn't know better, I would think I was reading the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival thread. A new Pirate pub was built at PRF last year and someone (may have even been me) posted the same thing almost word for word. I'm assuming the same design plans were used. Make sure the sound system speakers are NOT placed in back of the performers up on top. That caused a great deal of feedback until it was brought to someone's attention and they were moved out front. It is also very disconcerting to have the sound person walk past in the middle of a song to get into the controls. Worse yet is starting a show and then having the sound person come out of the door on the stage.
My solution; work the sound person into the act.
Because Techies are so much fun!
I get paid to be a techie at Elitches! Now that's a grand job. :D
That sounds like fun! :D
Well a good tech sound or other wise would minimise him/herself IF they had to go on stage and do what needs to be done very quickly.
Honestly I have only seen 1 sound person come on stage and that happened at one gig I played. I had zero sound out of my amps and three of us worked to resolve the issue as the rest of the band kept on playing improvising more on an original song. Come to find out on of my amps had a blown fuse and the bad thing was I had just picked it up from the repair shop that very day. Lucky for me I always used two amp heads and 2 4X12 cabinets stacked (Heavy Metal ya know) From then on I used 1 amp with the other ready to just pull 1 plug and go into the other... standby amp I guess is what it became.
Yeep, new Pub? I am intrigued and excited and le scared all at the same time. :o ;D ;)

Wait...new stage? I did notice they rearranged the tables, but I figured it was just a way to squeeze in a few more warm bodies, but the new stage completely escaped me.
Well Hello everyone!!! I think I have finally found where i should be :D. Its a big pain in the bahookie to find the Co forums but i think i finally got it.. If i get lost again, throw me a rope okay?!! ;D
yeah, it is very *new* looking--maybe if some weather hits it'll wear it down a bit. i think it's the brand new paint that makes it look uber-fresh. miss the actual "pirate's pub" sign that used to be up there too. it was pretty cool to play on tho...although i REALLY REALLY miss our netting...we have no shade now and it's le-roasting up there! ah well, so'z it goe'z.
Are we talking about the new forum or the new pirate pub stage?
BTW, I think I had about 909 posts on the old RF.com or maybe it was in the thousands... millions...
HAHAHAHA!! i think both--i just looked back and the new stage *and* the new forum are floating around in here. that's awesome.
