So I unearthed these amongst my parents' photos this weekend. These are from 1991. It's interesting to see how Fest has changed in the last 17 years. Hope you enjoy!
My brother and me riding an elephant. Interesting to note: there is no fence around the elephant ride area. Rather, the elephant appears to be chained to a circular path, and to have worn a rut in that path.

Here I am trying out the rope ladder thing. This is right before I promptly fell off. You can see that the Greek food booth was in the same place in the background. The Jacob's ladder is not yet surrounded by straw bales either, although there is lots of straw on teh ground.

Sherwood Forest sign. Still there. I suppose that little grass hut thing on the right is where the riddler sits now.

I have no idea where this is. It looks vaguely like Upson Downs but I'm not sure.

And finally....The Bear Stage before it was the Bare Stage... or even a stage, maybe, since there appear to be benches on it and patrons sitting all over it.

That's cool. Thanks for sharing those.
Thank you for sharing the pictures. You don't always see the changes year to year.
I like the Jacob's ladder shot, you have the same great smile as your little picture on the left.

YES! Do share....especially those fairy pics you showed us at the pub once!
Here's some old pics that were posted back when there was a lot more concern about bandwidth and download times with dial-up internet connections so they are kinda small http://scribe.faire.net/archives/Mn.Htm
If people are willing, it would be nice to be able to get permission to use some older pics for my MNRF living history project I started http://www.historicgames.com/mnrf/tiki-index.php

Hey, it was college, I was drunk, it was late, oh...not those pictu...
Hey Groomporter, I really liked your history project idea...I'll see what I can find. I have some stuff from way back when the Gypsy Camp did the "Pasha" schtick (always liked that one). Pre-fire stuff. I'll dig into it this weekend.
And I've got some shots when the rat catcher had a side kick. I don't remember the performers name. I think that his character was called Pretorius or something close to that. He was an oaf to the catcher's vile. While the adults 'got" catchers humor, the kiddies loved Pretorius because he was a simpleton in a sweet way. Think of Lenny in "Of Mice and Men". But he smoked and one of the things he did was to take a drag of a cigarette through his nose and some how the smoke exited out his rear. The kids loved it! Catcher always gave him a hard time about smoking and being a bad influence. I had read that his passing kind of affected Carr. Nice to believe that the catcher had a heart.
I remember the Oaf, but not the name he went by. He was very good.
I will have to see if my Grandma has any old pictures from out there. Or maybe Nick might too. He lost quite a bit in his house fire, but if I recall he was able to save his photo albums.
The Ratcatcher's partner was Pastorius. I forget the actor's name, but he's still around. He usually attends CONvergence the scifi/fantasy convention in July I think he does makeup/special effects professionally or something a long that line.

Carr said his former cohort was working on the latest Star Trek movie.
My apologies to the actor on the report of his passing. I had heard that he passed am happy that he's still around. It would be great if we could him and Catcher together again.
I really enjoyed his raport with the kids.
I don't remember him... I'm sure he's great, but.... what's he doing to that baby in the photo??

Checking for freshness before cooking? ;)
judging the weight, very important for cooking times.
Cool pictures!
Your comment on the riddler made me remember that an important message needs to be given to the riddler in green garb:
PLEASE BUY NEW HOSE!
They were *cough* holey *cough* in the CROTCH!
It was...a little disturbing to say the least. Not big enough for things to poke through, but as he was sitting spread-eagled it was a bit inappropriate and uncomfortable to be listening to riddles.
