Yeah, that was a nasty site, but I didn't think to give it its OWN topic.

I used to have a friend whose place looked almost that bad. Her family and I went in and cleaned it three times in three years - while she was in the hospital each time having a baby! We didn't want the little one coming home to that kind of toxic environment. And, yes, she was married, too. He used to have fits about her lousy housekeeping skills...or lack thereof.
She's one of those people who will live in a place until it looks like the one PurpleDragon posted, then move out and leave the mess behind. She pretty much did the same to the people around her - filled up their lives with her messes - which is why we are no longer friends.

I'm not one to call myself a decent housekeeper, but I like to live by a couple of rules. Dishes can't sit in the sink for longer than one night (sometimes we eat dinner really late and don't have time to clean up directly afterwards), and NO FOOD IS LEFT IN THE BEDROOMS!!!! I hate bugs...

Ok this is just WRONG. I about puked seeing those ciggy but's Those things gross me out. You might as well condem that place, tear it down as you know it will be molested by cockroaches and smell like death has lived there.

Ciggy Butt's and smelly trash, and hair in the food
Stale cigarette butts. (I'm a smoker.. yeah I now BAD DRAGON), but that smell even gets to me. When I was working at the dealership we had a trade in come in that the guy must have just dumped the ashtray on the floorboard every time it was full, we cleaned out three inches of cigarette butts of the floorboards, and OMG the stench of stale cigarettes was HORRENDOUS. I was a 2 pack a day smoker at that time. ((Trying to quit now, but it's NOT easy)).
Nothing worth doing is easy, PD. I certainly wish you success :) .
What makes me go ewwww? My dog eating poo. Finding only half of a rodent in the yard. The anatomy lab at one of the campus medical science buildings when there's a class in session. Walking into the ladies room at the office to find that someone's left a floatie.
I helped my then-boyfriend and his family clean out a garage that looked like that. They had already done the rest of the house. The garage was literally packed from floor to ceiling with STUFF. Some of it was "normal" stuff, some furniture, old baby things like a crib, stuff like that. But then there was also mouse poop, bugs, newspapers that were almost or older than me (19), I don't think most if any were opened, even. Mail, unopened, like bills. Clothes. Just general crap.
I think my aunt's house looked like that when my parents went to help my other aunt and my grandpa clean out her house when she went on her final trip to the hospital (she died this summer after about 18 months in and out of the hospital/rehab). She was a hoarder, just like the one I talked about up ^there^.
What grosses me out?
Cigarette smoke. Can't stand it. I don't care how sweet you are, if you are a smoker, you are not getting a date from me.
Anatomy and Physiology. My mom is a nurse. I have no intrest in going into the medical field. Yech.

Now, I'm not normally a "Bug-A-Phobe", but we've been seeing these wierd cickets around here. They're brown and black, have slightly larger than normal rear legs, and when they die, a thin but looooong worm comes crawling out.

That apartment is just NASTY. I am not Martha Stewart by any stretch, but at least you won't get hepatitis if you walk through my front door. The bathroom alone, made me want to hurl.
They will have to gut that place for safety issues. Someone commented on going inside there to serve paperwork to the owner, and mentioned fleas, which makes me itch now.

How Clean is Your House? (http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/100/index.jsp) Is one of my guilty pleasures. The British version, not the American one. Makes me feel a little better about the state of my house. I might have a couple baskets full of laundry, but it's *clean* laundry, the dishes in the sink aren't more than 24 hours old, and you can't pick the dust up in handfuls.

Ah, snakes- nature's little speed bumps! The only varmint I will run over, back up, and run over again, just to make sure I got 'em. (Hey, they've known since that little apple incident that we'd do it; serves 'em right for being in the way!)
Bees don't bother me. They're not aggressive unless you go slapping at them; othewise, they're pretty much "live & let live" critters. I enjoy watching them in my garden. And they make honey for my mead, so I respect them! :P ;D

I like snakes and most bugs are OK. The dirt and filth and ciggy buts made me go EWWW! I am a Virgo. All must be neat and tidy- and smell good. Litter also offends me.
Spiders ... I saw a big one making its web across the alley behind my house and I went around that area for several days until somebody destroyed it.
Ticks, I hate ticks. They don't necessarialy make me go Ewwww but they do give me the heebie jeebies ;)
I just despise their sneeky-head-burrowing-blood-sucking ways.
Snakes don't bother me at all! Now, in the wild, they have been known to startle me. Nor do rodents of any kind give me the willies, outside of the startle factor.
But I hate any kind of cockroach-y bug or bloodsuckers. Very large bugs have been known to make me actually vomit, like potato bugs.
I have come up with a weird torture idea of having to be in a vat of cockroaches or earwigs and the only way out is to devour them. My mother once made her evil ex-husband a meat loaf (his favorite meal) with a cockroach cooked inside of it. Strange but true...Bwaahaahaa! :P

I used to hang with a guy that was kind of a sloppy housekeeper. Nothing as horrible as the pics at the start of the post, but always several cans of soda or beer left about. You know. Anyway, I had a fresh soda, put it on the table and I guess I grabbed the wrong one for a sip. Got a mouthful of old coke and a bug. Blech!

I'm not exactly fit for the Good Housekeeping seal myself... Usually I keep cans of soda refrigerated, so the trick I use is to make sure I've grabbed the cold one. That trick didn't work so well right after Hurricane Ike hit and every soda was warm... thankfully no bugs were ever ingested by yours truly.
Vomit. Can't be around it, can't hear it happening, can't smell it....eughhghghghhgh.

One morn we awoke to the shrill sounds of my mothers screams (poor dad, same room).
Mama kitty "shared" a half eaten rodent (to call this thing a rat would do an injustice to the rats)
on mothers pillow. Yes, staring her in the face upon opening her eyes!
Things that make ya go EWWW:
A constipated kitty (insert dog, if you have one of those instead) who didn't finish in his litter box/outside and then proceeds to drag what's left on his bum around the house
Kitty giving your plants back to you after partially digesting them
On the subject of rats: when your pet rats get too much fiber, they end up leaving squishy rat turds that end up all over them (for an icky story, the first tale here (http://www.dapper.com.au/mischief.htm))
Horse stalls that have 3 feet of compacted manure, hay, straw, etc in them (for volunteer work, I mucked out those stalls)
