Title: Photo Gestapo
Post by: Jon Foster on September 27, 2008, 08:55:48 PM
So who else got nailed by the photo Gestapo for taking pictures today? I wasn't even shooting when Jim from the faire security told me I couldn't take pictures of the "stars" in the movie because of the type of camera I had. I argued the fact that there is a huge white sign at the faire entrance stating anyone entering the faire grounds is giving permission to have their pictures taken (or video taped) etc. But in the end I figured it wasn't a big deal and asked who the stars were so I would know who not to take pictures of. They couldn't tell me who they were so I just walked away.  ::)

I noticed several blue hats looking at me a little more closely than normal, I still took one pic at 500mm :) I shan't post it so as not to ruin their fun, or anyone else carrying a camera.

was in indianna today for work so not able to make it.. but so those with the better cameras then me are being told that.. i have an idea why they would say that.. but i dont really think they can tell you that.. especially if they wont tell you who it is in the movie.. cause hell the only reason i know the one person was ann margret is cause 1 she was on a horse near the front food area and 2 cause someone told me.. also like you said.. the sign.. if they can take ours why can we not take theirs??  i woudl raise the bovine poopie flag on that one.. oh well as long as they dont bug me tommorrow when i am there i am good.. if they start telling me i cannot take photos there will be problems.

I was told to move on and not take any pictures when I stopped to take a picture of the film crew while they were filming. I didn't see any stars that i recognized. I didn't argue with them, but you are right about the sign out front of the gates.

I totally agree that the sign should apply equally to everyone. I guess I was just too busy having fun to even notice any filming being done though hubby said he did.

The festival grounds is private property, not public.  So, they can do what they want when it comes to allowing or not allowing photos taken.  Best not too argue with them, as (from my experience with being a photographer) the festival is being very liberal during this movie filming and very liberal with photo taking in general (Impressive they're even allowing the SLRs with the looooooong zooms in.).  Again, best not to argue so not too ruin it in the future.  Too much grief and they could make things even stricter down the road.

What you are saying is true enough. It's private property and all but, if you post something in writing like that huge white sign, you'd better stick to what it says.

I guess my crappy little camera went unnoticed, I saw a few stars and was told ann margaret was playing the queen, I'm sure she has nothing on Madge Estes. here is Matt dillard and Christina Ricci. Matt was charging 10 bucks for a picture but the money was going to charity, what a nice guy eh?

As far as gossip goes ,I heard through the grapevine that christina was quite upset that her attendants brought her cold water ,when she wanted it room temperature and also that she told them to keep these freaks away from her,but she couldn't mean us rennies.....could she?

It's Lillard, not dillard. Thats another guy entirely. And most of the people I know got pics with him for free, so, hmmm...

And that's Ricci? I would totally have overlooked her if she went past.

I thought movie making would be exciting. It's exactly like watching paint dry. I was tapped as an extra, but decided against it for some various reasons, including a funky thing on my mammogram that's got to be checked out.

Besides, I'd rather write my book about a faire person going back in time. That's starting out to be a hoot.
