Hi All!
Josh and I need a weekend away. We're planning on heading to the Taylors Falls or Stillwater area October 24th. It's been ages since I've been out there and I don't remember any specifics. Does anyone have any recommendations for lodgings, things to do, places to see? I'd love some personal input rather than the brief notes I can find on the internet.
Stillwater is a really is a great place to spend some time in October! When the trees are changing over it's beautiful, and there are some great bars and restaurants with decks on the river to enjoy those autumn sights from. If you like antiques Stillwater is the place to be. Tons of little shops downtown. The place to stay in Stillwater is downtown so you can walk everywhere. My favorite place to stay is the old Lumber Baron Hotel. It is called the Water Street Inn now. It's a fancy place and a bit pricey, but it's worth it!...

O.K., while in Taylors falls you must have dinner at "Tangled up in Blue". Reservations are an absolute must as this is a very small resturaunt built in an old house. The food is quirky and divine! The staff loves good food, great presentation and people!

Before dinner be sure to check out the "Chateaux St. Crouix" winery. Cross the river into Wisconsin from Taylors Falls, 1st left, couple miles up on the right. If you like wine, they have some good ones.

This would make a great day trip, Stillwater would be more of a weekend get-away.
No mater where you go, have fun!
