this Old Tinker and his Belle visit for first time GLMF, HUZZAH
GLMF is our new faire this year, and we can not wait.
Captain, Oh My Captain Morgan, go day to thee,
we are mark'n thee days off until we meet again.
take care all,
i be the Old Tinker and his Belle...
I love your faire! We can't wait to see everyone again this year. I promise to stay sober at least until gate this year ... well, I'll try at least. It is Scarlet and Morwyn's fault ... they kept filling my tankard in the parking lot.
Scarlet and Morwyn are notorious for impromptu Pre- gate debauchery (ie drinking excessive amounts of champagne). Bad influence those two...And oh how I adore them for it.
I am hoping to park right next to them so that between their tailgate, and mine we will have a circle of drinking unprecedented by years past.
Non, mon Ami Scotsman, you will not remain sober I am afraid. We will all have to enter en masse in order to hold ourselves up as we enter the Gate.
Ah I love Faire....
Well ... at least I talk a good game ... you win!
Actually I can't completely blame the lassies ... Mehan & Ewan had a cooler of Guinness and you with your flask and Lady Guinness with her flask .... I am surprised I made it to the gate now that I think of it ;D
I feel kind of stupid, I'm 2 hours away and never knew this faire existed :-\, Its the same time as SRF so I will have to do some switching off :D
For those tha are interested.
Here is the cast for the 2008 season.
http://www.tylisaari.com/medieval/glmf08/thecast.htm
Using previous season photos of returning cast members, as well as some pics that wer emailed to me from some of the new cast members.
Here is the list of entertainment as posted by Scott (the Entertainment Director)
Ahoy!
Here is another entertainment update. This list is nearing completion, although there are certainly a few more additions expected. It looks like we are going to have a ton of entertainment this year with a great Joust as well as a great Chess Match!
We are also planning the Highland Pipes Competition to occur on the 3rd weekend (the Celtic weekend). $500 Grand Prize! Details to come. If you know of any groups that would be interested, let them know and steer them to this site when the details are posted.
Also, the auditions went well and it looks like we are going to have a real fleshed out village with a lot of memorable characters!
Finally, be aware that not all the acts will be here for the full run. For instance: Owen will be here for the final weekend only. This means there will be new acts coming in each weekend giving everyone even more reasons to come back again and again!

Okay folks...how funny would THIS be? Everyone memorize the "Beer, Beer, Beer" song and Opening Day...we link arms and sing it as we head to the Pub...

How did I miss this post? :o Yes, we love a good tailgate. How nice to be able to get in a little practice this past weekend at VARF with some of my most favorite faire folk!
Thank heavens there's a privy in the parking lot!
... favorite faire folk? Anyone we know?
BTW, how was the B-day party?

You know dearest, this actually would be funny! Of course, I think our numbers are so great, if we linked arms we'd be a mile across. Perhaps a congo line instead? LOL Beer, beer, beer!
Actually this linking arms thing to the pub might not be such a bad idea ... considering last year I could hardly walk after tailgate anyway. This will take a huge strain off Lady Guinness by doing this ;D
If memory serves ... Mehan was stumbling so bad she spilled her bells all over the faire ... I still remember trying to police all them bells up, it felt like some kind of pathetic sobriety test ... which I failed :-\
A rousing Chorus of Beer, beer, beer.... With our Number they will hear us throughout the shire....WE may irritate a few acts along the way...
I just cannot wait til GLMF.

Leave it to a Frenchman to steal my thunder yet again! .... was that my inside voice?
Thank you Mehan for setting me straight! I knew there was a couple pieces of the puzzle missing, but the stumbling part was slightly Ewan's fault ... that cooler of Guinness was like Crack to me ;D
Well Dear Scotsman, you do still have your Lightening personality!!! :D
I heard "cooler of Guinness". Between Quiet One and I, there will be plenty of evidence, documentation, errr I mean plenty of Souls treasured away for future remembers.
We may need Quiet ones and Lady Mikayla's "paintings" to remember this one. I nearly forgot I had a camera with me at Virginia.
So what time are we all getting? My goal is between 8 and 830. Gate opens at 10(?) so I want to make sure I get to see everyone before our "GRande Entrance"

Yup, I say between 8 - 8:30 sounds good. We should be able to get good parking and "hydrate" up in time for gate ;D

Not only the most capable Hands of Dear Morgan (those amazing hands,) and Sweet Dwynn, But at every turn mon ami you will find a friendly face to guide you and keep you headed in the right direction...and yes that direction would be to the pub.
Now which pub is the question. GLMF has 3...Altho Scotsman only saw 2, but remembers one... or something like that.
As for Tailgating. Worry not. Bring you and your Belle, And your drinking vessels and magically you will find them filled.
Oh the excitement is building, the boards are abuzz with anticipation....GLMF is just at the Horizon....

If we are all too pooped to party at that late hour - don't blame us ... by that time there should be a shout for "LAST CALL" ringing about! I fear the coolers will be empty ..... but I have been wrong before!
0800-0830 sounds perfect my gentlemen...(come on ladies...we can do it!!) the more time to be with my dear friends the better. Tink and Bell~I did not get to say a proper farewell at Tenn so I am begging to make up for it....I will over flow your drinking vessels!!
I was suggesting an 8 830 arrival so we could all park next to each other and have a "Party Circle" So we would not have to drag coolers back and forth....
I'm just saying...

3 more weeks my Mon ami's
OH!! I can't wait!!
I just hope it's not as dreadful hot and humid as it was yesterday at VARF. Good GODS is was awful!!
Mind you, I had a lovely time. I got to go a-faireing with many of my good friends. But I must admit - I was miserable and ended up with a pounding headache from the heat and was not well the rest of the night (and yes I was staying hydrated - hardly drank any adult beverages at all but did drink LOTS of water - it's just the heat got to me in that black velvet gown).
I too am hoping and praying for nice weather.
Last year was warm but not unbearable. We will all take care of each other, make sure we stay hydrated and have a great time. No one leaves early!!! lol
Agreed on all counts Milord.
We must be cognizant of one another in the extreme heat. Sometimes we are having such a good time that we don't realize that our body needs hydration, food or a break from the heat. So we must watch out for one another and if we see someone not looking well we must make sure that person has water to drink, food to eat, some shade in which to sit and basically just tell them that they aren't looking well so maybe they should take a break (and if helps when friends bring their RV so air conditioning can be had for such situations).
Oh - and make sure you eat!! You really do need food - as well as and in addition to water - to help your body regulate its temperature. That is always my biggest mistake - I forget to eat and suffer greatly later. Luckily the faire friends who know me well always remind me to eat (as in "Lady de la Warr, what did you eat today?????) There have been many times I have been asked that question only to answer "nothing" (at which time I get yelled at and ordered to eat immediately).
And I love you all for it! Please keep it up!! :)
Well there will be food at the Tailgate...lots of fruit and bread and cheese. This will Hydrate as well as act as "beer" sponges....
Everyone eats, everyone drinks, everyone had a good time...dangnubbit!!!

WELL, WELL, WELL....so here we find all of our friends! I finally made time to sign on to our new ren site home and here you are!
Captain Fortune sailed into Pittsburgh last evening and convinced King Charming and myself that we should try our best to make the journey for opening weekend at GLMF since he will be here to accompany us! So my dearests...I am most excited! We are most hopeful that we will be setting sail and joining the festivities - most anxious to see as many of you there as possible! Sir Wulf ~ King Charming will be just catching his breath between medical procedures so we are hoping you will be there so we can see you! We will not know when we can return (although it would be such a shame to miss the Pirate/Viking weekend!) Of course we are looking forward to seeing you at at Pittsburgh as well...but there is nuthin' like opening the season at GLMF! HUZZAH!
It will be awesome to see all three of you at GLMF. This is going to be faire weekend to remember! Huzzah!

I do believe the Frenchman will have several of his favorite ladies in attendance, ALL at once! ***packs smelling salts*** ;)
Drunk on the sweet nectar of Life M'lady Mikayla...Nectar of life.
And no, at the moment it is not the nectar of Grape, Honey, wheat, barley or hops...
Could it be the upcoming GLMF invasion that has the Frenchman so high on life?? ::)
Okay I am missing something here.I am hearing all this talk about GLMF invasion and about how a bunch a lovely ladies will be in attendance as well.Oh what I would give to be included in this invasion. The only question I have is as a pet is are Pets allowed to attend M'Crack invasions or are they for full fledged memebers only.Hearing all this talk of lovely lasses present at a renn faire is making me quite jealous ;)
Please join in our fun Lord W. You will be most welcome to share in the good tmes with our very dear friends and Ren Family!
You may attend any renaissance faire you choose and as a Pet or full fledged member of the Clan M'Crack we encourage you to attend as many as you find fun. While in attendance, should a member of the Clan M'Crack hollar out "Pet" or "I need a Pet" ...make it snappy to the member requesting attendance.
Well Strok'n you saw first hand at VARF how quick I am to jump when a member would hollar for a pet so that should be no problem at all for me.Lady Guiness I would love attend this faire with my new family and friends. One more thing I would love to meet you and Scotsman as I did not see either one of you at VARF on invasion weekend.

Lord W. I am not sure if we met on Saturday, I did leave the faire much earlier than intended due to a slight illness (which was not helped by the heat) I am sure you saw Scotsman and maybe just did not realize who he was for he was there most of the day on Saturday. We will be looking forward to officially meeting you opening weekend at GLMF...it is my second favorite faire, home away from home!
I can smell faire in the air already ... we are getting close!
Lord W, it will be good to have you with us cousin! No worries about being a PET this weekend, since we are not an official M'Crack gathering, you can put you PET hat up and let your hair down.
Let the party begin in earnest!
Scotsman and Lady G
Thank you both for the kind words they meant a lot.I would love to officially meet both of you at GLMF.I have heard a lot about this faire and nothing but good.Mad Maggie aka Dirt'n of Clan O'Morda who is a very dear friend of mine (like a sister to me)has had nothing but good things to say about this faire,so I believe that this is a very good faire.I have to apologize to all the M'Cracks that were in attendance at VARF on closing weekend for being in such extreme heat.Saturday was warm but it was the humidity that was worse.Be glad that yall chose closing weekend to come because the weekend before closing was 10 times worse. It literally would have killed yall, temperatures both days were in the triple digits with the heat index for that weekend around 110 to 115 so being one with a heat problem myself yall would have dropped like flies.Sunday when I was there I had to take myself out of the show because it was just to hot.But anyway I look forward to officially meeting you both at GLMF.See you there.
We shall see you there cousin! It is indeed a great faire ... in my top 5 favorites. Not to mention the faire folk are simply great ... awesome hosts! I can't say much for the shows and vendors for I only saw two things when I was there last year ... the parking lot and the pub. Everything else is just eye candy!

Who all is staying at the HOJOs at exit 218 ? .This is our first time at GLMF. A Sat night get together sounds great! Nothing like a mob of Rennies descending on some unsuspecting eating establishment/drinkling emporium.
Carl and Donna...I am sure we will be having some sort of Saturday night get together.
You can;t get that many of us together and not continue the festivities into the wee hours of the morning.
Arrangements to follow I am sure...I just need to get through this work week with out exploding with excitement.
Greetings, RenFriends! Not sure if I'll make it for Opening Weekend, but wanted to let you know that anyone who would like to send a card for Dirk/Sir Wulf/Charming, can renmail me if you need the address.
If I'm not able to make it next weekend, hope y'all have a great time!

Everyone - please see this thread regarding Friday night http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=1836.0
Saturday and Sunday are still up in the air as far as I know - but that's a start!
I can just feel that excitement already myself.I have heard so much about GLMF that it has me wanting to visit already. What makes it even more better for me and wanting to visit even more is the fact that my fellow M'Crack are going to be there. :)

Saturday night get together is out for us ... after faire we are just too wiped out! Friday night however is a different story!
Well if there is not a big Saturday Gathering...then perhaps long farewells in the lot...Post Gate Party???
That sounds like an option DuCoeur....we shall see. ;D
And the beer and Meade will be on ice hopefully. :)

Now the question what kind of beer will we have.If it's budweiser or yuengling or hornsby hard cider than we're in business.

Budweiser? I think not! Yuengling is my all time fail safe ... for faire there can be only one!
Smithwicks!
Does anyone know much about the garb vendors there? I'm not sure any of my garb is going to work this season....blasted fairies!
Yuengling,Scotmans you and I are both in business cause yuengling is my second favorite beer.Oh yeah! ;D
Budweiser??? Ugh...never. Yeungling only as a last resort (some of the lesser bars will still have yeungling).
But Smitwicks or NewCastle...or Stella Artois...I'm am a beer snob...What can I say???
I think they have miller inside for those who cannot handle real beer...

Great Lakes has some great Vendors..Crimson Chain...Chantillys Lace...Boss Wench...and More.
Wear what you have then add to it.... ;)
What? How can there be a gathering of such attractive, intelligent, sexy and worldly men as this discussing choices of beer and there be NO mention of Guinness?! I need to find an Irishman to hang with! :o
Anne I'm not sure what size you are however I'll have a few extra garb pieces for the top 1/2 in tow with me...***waggles a 750ml bottle of Everclear in front of her*** I have something for you!!! ::)

LOL You'll see why this is soo funny to me right now! Just can't decide if I should wear it Sat or Sun and if I should bring the garb matching dog each day or just bring Gio in on Sat am. The other IG is really shy...but he matches my new, um top better...yeah that's it my new top. :P
....2 days....4 hours....10 minutes...51 seconds.....

Of Course Guinness...And M'lady Guinness is pouring. Silly moi.
I recently enjoyed some Guinness this very eve minself! :P
Oh and, I'M ON VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! glee
I am having a Stella Artois....Cheers M'Lady Mikayla!!!
I might bring a bottle of Lindeman's Framboise for those that feel like drinking their dessert..
Now, if I really wanted to go beer snob, I'd pick up any of the following: Lindeman's Cassis, Chimay Blue Cap, Koenigshoven, Rodenbach Grand Cru, or Liefman's Goudenband.

Okay I'll take the blame for this one since i'm the one who started talking about what kind of beer to have at the gathering.M'lady Guiness we could never leave out the Guiness from our little shindig. And plus with a gorgeous lady like yourself (but don't tell Scotsman I said that) attending it's only fair that you do the honors of pouring. ;)

I am having a Stella Artois
I won't write down what I think of this ... er ... beer! And Newcastle ...Paleeez ... sheep urine taste better than that!
For the record, Smithwicks IS a Guinness product as is Harp. The Smithwicks recipe has been around a lot longer than the Guinness recipe - matter-O-fact Smithwicks is touted as Ireland's oldest brew ... HA!
As for Yuengling, as
domestic beers go, it is the best! Again America's oldest brew, second to none!
Look, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but mine is the only one that counts ;D
Trust me, I have done extensive research in this area ... if you don't believe me just ask Lady Guinness - she never lies :-X
Stella Artois has been around since 1399......Whatever your taste. Having it at Faire with friends and the best people in the world makes everything that much sweeter!!! ;)
