Ticket ordering page (http://www.scarboroughrenfest.com/tickets/advance.doc)
I think that's still last year's form, all the dates on it say 2008
Oops. My bad. Got too anxious.
We don't usually see new ticket info until December
We are trying to get tickets up and running by the end of next week, but it may be as late as the middle of December. We are going to offer print your own tickets this year and the programming has hit a glitch or two. Also, Friends of the Faire and season ticket holders will have their photos taken for a picture Id for their use for the seaon. The plan is to bar code the ID so that there is no more ticket punching. At least that's the plan. Check the site late next week. If we haven't made it by then it will probably be as late as mid-December. Sometimes advances take a while. Anyhow - Happy Thanksgiving everybody.
Berit
Wow.
That photo on the ticket could be a nightmare to arrange for out-of-town and out-of-state people.
Maybe they could email in a photo or something.
http://www.scarboroughrenfest.com/tickets/index.asp
We understand that we will be able to download photos for the out of town or prior planners. Still working on it.
Depending on the expected volume, you could do what Costco and Sams clubs do at their grand openings and set up a mobile card issuing station. You could allow the online purchasers to print a slip with a confirmation number and all of the important information can be associated with that number, name etc.
When the purchaser presents confirmation slip to the worker, they can input the number and pull the information or record the confirmation number and the associated barcode number and enter the information retroactively, like they do with "Member Reward Cards" at the grocery store (the later might help with speed). Then its just a matter of Picture, Print, Record. The cards can come pre-printed with the barcode so all that would have to be printed day of is picture and name and any other information that might be needed. People who purchase at the gate could fill out an application which could be associated with the issued barcode number, allowing for imputing later.
You would need either PC's or Laptops, Web Cams, and Plastic Card Printers. You could run one printer per machine, or get a single networkable one.
A decent Single Sided Card Printer runs about 800 bucks at the cheapest, but it doesn't take a massive machine to run the printing software. A project like this would cost about 5,000 or 6,000 bucks total for the hardware and consumables (buying the cards pre-printed by the vendor will save on ink costs.) Plus you would be able to use this set up for many years.
Thanks for the info. That is pretty much what we are planning on.
I set a system like this up for a client.
Tickets are now on sale! We have "print your own" tickets this year so that you can print them even when we are not in the office. Friends of the Faire and Season Pass holders will use their ticket to get a picture ID that they will be able to use all season. No more fumbling for tickets and driver's licenses. Yea!
We will be taking pictures at the North Texas Irish festival for those of you who attend that event. And if you have never attended you have missed a great event. We will also be selling tickets there as in past years. If you have already bought your tickets just come by and hoist a tankard with me and the others.
We are looking forward to a great season.
Sounds good, but how will it work for those of us from out of town, who won't be there till preview or opening weekend?
Is a FOF or regular season pass transferable if it hasn't been used at all?
For example, if I buy a FOF/season pass but am unable to make it to Scarby this year (and realize that before opening weekend), can I sell my pass to someone else or get a refund?
I do understand that you can't 'share' a pass, aside from giving away the free tickets that come with the FOF pass.
Just curious, I've never purchased either before! :)
I just purchased ours. The name for each pass is printed on the receipt with an individual bar code. I would say that it is definitely not transferable.
http://www.scarboroughrenfest.com/tickets/index.htm
I called the office and they are still working on software that would allow us to email them a photo for the photo id.
They hope to have more info by NTIF.
Hmm, I guess I won't be buying a pass until/unless I'm sure I can attend for more than just opening weekend. Otherwise, it's more cost effective to just buy a single weekend's worth of tickets.
Var, If we are not able to import photos, we will take your photo when you make your first visit. Shouldn't take too long. We are still planning to be able to import emailed photos but are still shopping for software.
By the way, we will give you your two free tickets for the first two weekends when we make your picture ID, whether that is by email, at Irish Festival, Preview or opening day.
Those of you who are Friends of the Faire should be getting a letter within the next week. The office will be closed from December 20 through January 4 but you will still be able to buy and print your tickets.
Happy Holidays to all! Merry Christmas. Have a blessed Yule. Happy Hanukkah. Merry Kwanzaa. And happy Festivus for the grinches!
Does anybody know if they came anywhere near selling out the FOF passes last year? I would like to wait a while to get mine, but I don't want to risk their selling out.
Thanks!
They usually let people know ahead of time via email, that tickets are going, and they have a certain amount left.

I believe I know what our plan shall be. By my figuring a couple who goes opening and closing would do best by buying a FoF membership and a Season pass and still end up with the two extra tickets to give to a friend in need.
My reasoning is that the Lovely Lady Trinn truly needs the FoF areas during closing weekend. It just gets to hot and having an area to cool off in is vitally important to someone who is as heat sensitive as my Lovely Lady.
Also, by my math... A person who buys a season ticket and goes opening and closing weekends saves a whopping $45!
*that's another few dollars for the rum fund... very important*

""HUZZAH"" Purchased FoF online last night so am ahead of the curve. Also this way we can make the preview and set up our wine tasting earlier in the season. Just wanted to get tickets before I forget to get them and have to pay the extra.
Just purchased a FoF pass online. How do I go about getting a photo sent up for it (or is it needed?)?
I printed out the bar coded pass. What do I do with it?
I'll be coming up early Friday April 3 to check out the campgrounds at the lake in case I want to bring up the travel trailer for future weekends.
I'll be staying at the Super 8 motel in the Drunken Gnome block.
You will exchange the printed out ticket for a Friend of Faire photo ID that you will be able to use all of the season. We will be taking photos at the North Texas Irish Festival, Fof F preview event on March 29 and at the front gate during the season. We should be able to accept uploads of your photo when we get the software set up (probably next month) so we will mail the pass to you after we grace it with your visage. We will also be distributing the 2 free 1st two weekend tickets when we give you your photo ID. Please feel free to call me at 972-938-3247, ext. 30 if you have any questions.
What about season passes? Will those be exchanged for the printout opening weekend?
I'm assuming the comp tickets will be mailed out to those who printed their tickets?
Anybody having trouble accessing the site? I'm trying to purchase our FoF passes, and I can't even get to the home page.. Just wondering if it's my cruddy internet or if there's something going on w/ Scarby's site today....
Tried getting on the website but it wouldn't even load. Probably down for maintenance or such. They'll have it back up in no time! :)
Thanks for checking for me. I hope they have it up soon! :) I'm looking forward to buying my first FoF pass. :) :) (and get good use out of it, I pray :) )
Aye, I no doubt that you will get your moneys worth out of it. Just for the free gatorade and water, it makes it so worth it, especially on the later weekends.
I'm hoping that I'll be getting my FoF pass soon, also.
Sorry guys, we lost our internet for a while today. Our ISP went down. It's back up now. Regarding free tickets and pins for Friends of the Faire, we will be handing those out when we give you your photo ID. Hope that helps to clear things up.
Woot! Got 'em. I'm SO excited. :) :)

????? Anyone know?
The comp tickets and the F of F pins will given out with the picture ID card. You can have your picture made at the North Texas Irish Festival - March 6-8, at the Friend of Faire preview event on March 29 from 1 pm - 6pm, or outside the gate on show days.
I called the office and RSVP'd for the FOF event. The girl who answered the phone
seemed surprised to hear from me.
Thank you for asking, just call the office Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm and tell who and how many. We need to have everyones RSVP by March 20 so that we can order enough food. We are in the process of putting up a special Friend of the Faire page on our website with a FAQ section for you all to able to go to.
What, exactly, is the FoF preview event? Do we come in garb? :) (I'm obviously new... not to Scarby, but to the FoF event(s).. :) )

You are asked not to attend in garb. This is a dress rehearsal for the cast. In the case of new members,
a chance to perform for crowds. They serve lunch and you have the opportunity to socialize with the cast afterwards.
That is cool! I hope we can attend. That'd be a great way to meet many. :) Thanks for the info. :)
Donacatalina is right; it gives the FoF holders a chance to chat with the cast 'in' and 'out' of character. I have enjoyed the preview the past two times I have attended.

That would be neat. I don't know any of the cast - it would be awesome to meet some of them (they do a marvelous job - i'm envious. lol :) )
The problem with the FOF event is that I don't know people when I see them out of garb.
Last weekend my wife and I sat at a table in a restaurant next to a couple of faire folk. I have known her from Hawkwood, Scarby, and Middlefaire. I recognised her when she came to our table. Still didn't remember the guy she was with. If I saw him in garb I could probably remember.
One of the fun things is finding out who is really on cast. Some of us playtrons stay in character so well that it is hard to tell they aren't.
Any info on roughly how many FoF passes are left? I won't be able to get mine until Feb 11 and I'm a little anxious that they'll sell out beforehand.
Berit might know, and you should be fine if you have to wait.
No worries :)
Thanks! That's a relief :)
Indeed, I'm waiting eagerly to see if my father is going to stay true to his word about buying me a FoF pass.
:-\ I hope they don't sell out before then!
Tell your father if he waits too long the price goes way up!

haha :) I can see that being a problem! I imagine it'd take me a few times meeting people (both in and out of garb) before I put the pieces together. lol
I hear you on the playtrons! I've run into several individuals I assumed were on cast - I was completely wrong. I wish I could pull off a character as such, but it takes a lot of time and practice.

Maybe we should wear our R/F pins and possibly name tags. ;)

That is a great ideaaaaa! *bounces* They do that at Rendevous! Another thing to organize! ;D I'll have to find some fun nametags to make for everyone! :)
Elo,
Try designing some thing and I can print them :)
and you can hand them out at the FoF Preview
Sonata,
You should be okay. We don't usually get near full until Early March.
Berit
yeah! just bought my FOF tickets! BLING BLING HOLLA DOLLA BILL YO!!!
This year is the first time I'm going full-bore with the FoF pass. I'm really looking forward to the preview event and getting a chance to talk with everyone.
Yea, I'm not going to recognize some people without their standard garb. Then again, y'all might not recognize me without the hat. ;)

Does anyone know if we can email photos in yet to get our real FOF passes?
I am purchasing a batch of group tickets because I have several people coming or possibly coming on different weekends. But I don't know for sure who all will be coming. My concern is that if I don't provide a name, it's going to print my name on the ticket, is that going to be a problem for someone else redeeming it?
*dances joyfully*
I just bought my first ever FoF pass! I just bought my first ever FoF pass! WOO! HUZZAH! :D ;D :D
DonaCatalina,
We are working on some problems with the software, but we believe that ultimately you will be able to email your picture. Will let everyone know when that happy day occurs! ;)
Raevyncait,
Sorry that I missed your post yesterday. There will not be any problem with the tickets. They do not require the user's name to be printed on them. Your name is sufficient.
Berit
Bought our FoF Passes today!
Woooo! first year for that!
Cannot Wait!
*There is free rum in there right?*
Got our tickets for opening weekend. Unfortunately that's all we can do this year, but hey at least we'll be there!
Mom just bought my Friends of the Faire pass for me! :) A wonderful early birthday present! ;D
Great B'Day present! I bought my FOF pass on Friday before I left for NJ. Don't know if we're going to make more than opening and closing, but it's still worth it. Oh, and the preview day too - definitely going to that this year.
Okay I bought my season pass. I hope I get to use it for more than opening weekend.
I hope you use it more than Opening and Closing too, Zaubon!
And I'm really looking forward to the Preview Event also.
Just bought our tickets for Scarby!!! Woo Hoo!!! ;D ;D ;D
Well, I got my FoF pass last night so I am officially set for Scarby. Yay! Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
BTW, my first post here, so hi to everyone :) Ill get a garb picture in my profile as soon as I get some done.
Welcome to the Forum Henry. Looking forward to seeing you at the FOF preview.
Don't forget to wear your R/F pins everyone!

Where do you get the R/F pins from?
R/F pins here; (http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=210.0)
Just printed our FoF and child passes! (And I bought them while watching 'The Tudors'!)
When you purchase a Friend of the Faire ticket, you will be given (or be able to print off) a paper bar-coded ticket that you will turn in for your photo ID pass. When you present the bar-coded ticket we will take your picture and make your photo ID. You may have your picture taken at our booth at the North Texas Irish Festival (March 6-8, 2009), or (beginning in March after the Irish Festival) at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival office (please call for an appointment) during the week, at the Friend of the Faire Preview event on March 29, or when you first attend the festival. For the first two weekends of the Festival we will be set up in the souvenir area by the front gate.
You may also email your photo for your Friend of the Faire Pass ID to pictures@SRFestival.com. Picture size should be 400 pixels x 300 pixels. You must include your name, the name on the ticket, and a daytime phone number where we can reach you. Your photo ID will be completed upon your arrival at Scarborough.
I would love to get the FoF passes but I don't think we can cover it this year... so I think we're gonna go with the season passes
Is that 400 wide by 300 tall or 400 tall by 300 wide for the pcitures? Trying to figure out which picture I can use and taller would be better than wider.
The dimensions for the photos are 300 wide by 400 deep. And they should be in a JPEG format.
Thanks, Berit!! I'll get an e-mail off later today.
I emailed mine in today. I couldn't get a photo exactly that size. I hope 260x320 works.
Hey! as a preformer I received my pass card today.
It is snazzy, these are waterproof! ;D
Takes, like, no time at all. Cannot even stand around blankly for too long before you have it in your hands.
Remember! They'll be out at NTIF making these cards next weekend.
Take advantage of it, more fun than a flu shot, and less time waiting!
Cheers!
I received a reply from "The ID Team" and apparently the photo I sent in worked.
I bought my FOF back in Dec. but now I can not find the print out Is there a way to reprint or can they look it up at NTIF.
Hmmm.. Better ask Berit.
Berit:
I am only a lowly season pass holder this year. Are the season pass holders to get photo IDs as well... I thought I heard that at one time. I'm assuming that photos aren't being done for season pass holders at NTIF, but can we mail them in to the office like the FOF echelon do?
Secondly, can we bring our photos in to NTIF to use on FOF badges? The wife has one ready to go for hers.
Stalk Well...
'Dem it! I just remembered that I had to buy my tix...March 5. What day did advance purchase end, March 4! *sigh* I may just wait and see if I can find any promotions, now.

Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!
I made the same mistake! :(
Okay all - questions and answers
Yes we can reprint your ticket for you at NTIF
Yes we will be doing photos of season pass holders as well as Friends of the Faire at NTIF
No, you can't bring a photo to Irish Fest. We will only be taking pictures. If you want to use one you have already, send it to pictures@SRFestival.com. Be aware that getting the photo made at NTIF means that you will walk away with a bright shiny new photo ID ready for opening day. Sending your picture in will still require picking it up on opening day or whenever you first attend the festival.
Lastly, if you missed the deadline fear not. That is if you can make it to NTIF. We are offering the same prices there that are pre price increase. In other words, F of F memberships will be $115 instead of $125, Season passes will be $65 for adults instead of $70.00, etc.
Hope that is helpful.
Wishing you Music, Merriment and Magic - Berit
