For those that haven't heard yet, I spent about 7 hours at the ER last night.
Figured this might be the easiest way to let everyone know what's going on now that I'm home from the ER.
I went to the ER last night and spent about 7 hours there for abdominal pain. Long story short, they doped me up on morphine, made me drink contrast, and then did a CT scan to see if they could figure out what's wrong with me. After all that, the results still came up inconclusive. Their best guess at this point is that I may be suffering from Diverticulitis. If you don't know what that is, look it up on Wikipedia (warning: it's not pretty).
So now I'm home dealing with the pain management (i.e. taking drugs). They basically told me if it gets worse, to come back. If not, I'm supposed to take pain meds and a couple different antibiotics for the likely infection that goes along with Diverticulitis. So it's just a waiting game at this point, but most likely not something that is just going to go away on it's own. I'm frustrated because they couldn't give me any solid answers. I'm doubled over in pain and they can't tell me exactly why. It's a little scary, to say the least. And on a side note, if that wasn't enough, they said they found a cyst or (?) on my kidney that will have to be watched closely, so there's also that to deal with now.
So I'm just sitting at home now, waiting to come off my morphine high, to see if the pain is better, worse or the same. Here's hoping for the best.
Sending lots of healing thoughts and faerie dust (better than morphine! ;D).
Hope you get feeling better soon!
As far as the energies you know you have all of our support. As for the rest, if you have the opportunity IMHO you should go to a specialist (gastroenterologist-sp?). If there is a lesson to be learn with what happenned to Ron is that early detection is key. If we would have bypassed his regular "doctor", maybe the outcome would have been different and maybe just maybe he would still be here :'( sorry I digress...Double check if you can the "diagnosis".
Yikes!!!!! :o
Take it easy, and feel better soon!!!
*Big Hugs*
xoxoxo,
Muffin
Well, you couldn't have picked a worse time to get ill ... not that you picked it.
Get well swiftly brother and if posible save some of those meds for the rest of us ;D
I'll put a little Scotch aside for you ... God speed.
Yes definitely sending positive thoughts your way!
Get better soon.
Keeping you in my thoughts, my friend...and, not to be a nag or anything, but Lady Gloriana is absolutely correct...see a specialist, ie: a Gastrointerologist...something is making you ill that those MASH-Jockey/ER types can't figure out. The folks in Gastro can. I have regular appointments with mine.
Love ya!!
Am
Shoot DB, don't go getting sick on us. :'(
I'm dancing around with my rattles and chicken bones for you . (Warning: my dancing's not very pretty either!)
DB,
Get better, that's an order!
Since I just did a month of this including a week in the hospital with surgery to come early next year, let me say that the situation is serious, but not terminal. For the next ten days rest (I went to faire, more fool me) and take your antibiotics exactly as perscribed. Stick to a liquid/very soft food diet keaning more toward liquids. (consider Jello and mashed potatoes as an upper limit for solidity)
Had I followed the diet/rest regimine better I probably wouldn't have ended up in the hospital. Good luck and we're all pulling for you.
Hope they can figure this thing out soon for you, DB. Take care.
I would get a second opinion too...take care DB...I hope you get better soon! :)
Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Bummer! This must be the week for bad luck around here. take care of yourself and rest ! Deffinitely get yourself in to see a doctor who deals in that area . Best wishes to you !
Holy Moley!
Whatter you doing gettin sick on us? :o
I'm sorry to hear DB, and wish you a complete and speedy recovery, once they find out what's wrong for sure.
Sending you and Nyte good vibes and healing your way. Get better soon!
Sorry to hear of your illness, DB. I hope you feel better soon. You and Nyte will be in our prayers.
Sending you and Nyte warm wishes and happy thoughts.
Thanks everyone. I'll be trying to get to a specialist next week if I can get an appointment. In the meantime, I'm trying to take it easy...besides, it's hard to do anything while taking vicodin. ::)
DB get well soon.I will be praying for a quick and speedy recovery for you my friend.
Sending healing thoughts and energy your way! Take care of yourself, and get some rest!
DB, I'll be sending as much positive energy your way as I can...get better soon!!!
Thoughts and prayers to you and yours.
Thanks everyone! Minor update...
I'm mostly doing better, no more stabbing pains, so I'm done with the vicodin for now. But the antibiotics are messing me up good, and I still have a week to go before I finish them. Pretty much sick to my stomach 24/7...I'll be glad to see the last of these horse pills gone.
Make sure to eat a banana every day to replace the potassium you're losing. You might want to try some rice cooked in chicken broth - it's easy on the tum. Hope you're feeling better.
I agree with Mistress Taffy, and would add a bit of probiotic active culture yogurt every day, to replace some of your necessary digestive bacteria that are being damaged by the antibiotics. It will even help your stomach feel a bit better!
Sending you healing and comforting energy! Please keep us informed of your progress, DB, and let us know if you need something!
I'm glad to hear your doing a little better today DB.Continue to take care of yourself and don't over do it.Like everyone else has said please keep us posted on your progress my friend.
Hey DB. It's really important to be taking probiotics along with antibiotics to replace the good bacteria that gets killed along with the bad. It will help with getting your digestive track back to good health. You can get them at any drug or vitamin store.
Vicoden can do havoc with your stomach. One of the four drugs they put me on for my seizure espisode is Vicoden. The doctor in the emergency room told me it can really cause havoc with your stomach and so he also prescribe for me a drug called "metoclopramide " for nausea. It works. You might want to ask your doctor about it ? Good luck to you.
Do take care, DB!!! Abdominal pain is nothing to mess with. Do the right things and get well soon!!!
I hope they figure out what's going on soon DB. It sucks having tests with no results. Brandi had a stomach issue during fest and they did the whole gambit with her and they have her in this nerve blocker that seems to help. The initial possible diagnosis was the same as yours, so I really REALLY hope they nail it down quick. It's no fun. Healing thoughts are definitely heading your way.
Saying prayers for you, DB. Hope you find out the problem quickly.
DB you are in my prayers. I pray everything works out well for you.
How are you doing DB? Hopefully better. You're still in my thoughts dear. *HUG*
Guess I'd better just open this bottle of Capt. Morgan Special and take a medicinal hit to help you out tonight, DB! 8)

Well, better you than me...I still can't touch the stuff for another week. :'( I'm down to one antibiotic rather than two, but of course it's the one that's making me feel horrible.
I just learned this weekend that Flagyl used to be used as AnatAbuse. Don't drink when being treated for Diverticulitis! If you do it's really going to be bad.
Glad to step in and do my part to keep the rum companies in business till youre up and about, DB... 8)
Hope this finds you well, my friend!
Hey DB, I hope the horse pills did their job, and things are getting all better now! Still sending you positive healing energy! Feel better soon!!!
Get well soon DB, hope things are getting better.
Sending positive energies your way DB, hope you are doing better.
My mom has it, so she's on a low residue diet...no nuts, no seeds, very little red meat, very little dairy (except for Activia), low spice. She's been dealing with the diet for about a year, and had only one recurrence where we had to take her back to the ER. (She didn't think a couple of sesame seeds would hurt...)
Take care DB, keep us updated.
I just had a routine colonoscopy and the doctor said I have begun to have some Diverticulosis. I guess it turns into Diverticulitis if the sacs become inflamed. I never had any trouble and didn't even know I had it, but it sounds like you've been really sick, DB. Hope this doesn't keep reoccuring with you.
Just wondering how you are doing, DB. Haven't heard anything about you're holding up in awhile. Hope all is well or heading in that direction.
