Title: Hotels
Post by: ravic on December 01, 2008, 08:31:53 PM
So now that my working faire is over, I need to start planning to visit my playing faire. I've camped at Bardwell in the past but the new wife isn't a camper & I have to find a hotel in the Scarby area. Any recommendations Yea or Nay regarding the local inns? Willing to go as far as Ennis or Red Oak/DeSoto if need be.

Super 8 in waxahachie is my hotel of choice.
Decent price and a pool on those hot weekends just cant be beat.

*and the room is big enough for the rum to hide during the day lol*

The Best Western is one of the newer ones. I've never stayed in this one, but I've never been disappointed by a Best Western.

Ok, I'm looking for a nearby 4 star, something with Suites available for my birthday invasion of Scarby. Any ideas?

Hapton Inn & Suites Waxahachie (http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=DALWXHX) is the closest you are going to get.

Ok, is that a decent one??? I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay 150/night for a hotel that sucks LOL...

Other than the suite part, you could probably get the same thing in a hotel room at the Super 8.

Sorry, nearest 4-star would be in DFW. Waxahachie is kinda like Conroe, only less so.

That hampton inn is very nice, only a couple years old now - and the wife and I have been staying thre for scarby since the first year it was available in time for faire. They do have a small discount for scarby too (or buy your ticket at teh hotel desk).

Indoor pool...nice no matter what the weather is like!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites last closing weekend.  We got a king room and it was HUGE.  PLus they have the breakfast thing.  And their beds, sheets, pillows are pure heaven.

Blue - go for the Hampton.  I stayed at this chain quite often when I traveled on business and this chain is one of the better ones.

I stayed at the Hampton last year and it was great. All except for my dad's snoring. I'll fly solo this round; he can get his own damned area for slumber. Me like'ums me booty, er, beauty sleep!!

The breakfast was pretty good, and the indoor pool was a good relaxer after faire.

For those trying for the Super 8 on opening weekend.

There is probably only one more room available on the Drunken Gnome block reserved.

Got mine reserved 20 minutes ago.
