Title: Getting thru
Post by: Goody on January 07, 2009, 10:51:48 AM
So to get thru the winter (and to put in vaca requests) I am already planning my fest season!!!!
I like to try one new fest per year and this year will be KY which will be either a wk+ long trip with KYRF one wkend and Bristol the next or it'll be 2+ wks starting with WIRF (if they're gonna happen?), then KYRF then Bristol. Ahhh, the planning is all I can do to get thru!! Is it Spring yet?? My visitor info should be arriving shortly. If anybody's up for jumping in our renwagon or caravanning along, the more, the merrier!

2009 Festivals

June 6 & 7 - Siouxland SD

June 13 & 14 - Olde World Twig, MN

June 20 & 21 Ironworld

July 4 & 5 - Highland Renaissance Faire KY
      Visit family/friends
July 11 & 12 - Bristol Renaissance Faire

August 15 & 16 - Hoghead Festival Proctor, MN

August 22-October 4 - MNRF

What's Hoghead ?  Is that  one of those flat top buzz cut hair-do's you see on these guy's that narrate those 1960's hygiene films they use to show in school ?  ???

we've discussed this before but I can't rememeber where. It's a Proctor fest celebrating train history. A hoghead was the conductor as he was head of the hog (train front looks like a pig). I usually hafta choose between it and fest but since fest starts a wk later than usual I don't hafta decide!!

I know we talked about going somewheres this summer, but alas finances are rendering it most likely impossible.

I understand. It may be a "brutal" 2 1/2 wks!! I've got a pretty good itinerary planned already which includes Stronghold castle, Chicago Shakespeare theater (or whatev its called) Legoland, and original McD's etc all while staying with family and at campgrounds. Ya really gotta go lite cuz ya get sick of hauling stuff in and outta peoples houses!! I can't wait! I have way too much time on my hands at work to be readin all these travel brochures!

We've been compiling a summer "to-do" list (have to get vacation requests in and all that), so here is what we're planning:

May 23-25 - Iowa Renaissance Festival Amana, IA

June 13 & 14 - Olde World Twig, MN

July - WIRF(haven't decided on an exact date yet)

August-Oct MNRF

We're also trying to work in a BWCA trip (We've done road trips out west for the past 2 summers and I miss the peace and quiet - plus no cell coverage!)

I had saved up for AZ this yr but I havent flown since I was 5 (not sure it even counts) and I'm not much for traveling alone so when my car went on the crapper I used that money to fix it. Since I got fam 15 mins from fest I will hafta try to make it next yr!
