Tonight is supposed to be the biggest full moon of 2009. So, when the sun sets... go outside and take a peek. It's supposed to be pretty awesome. Think I'll step outside and have a look.
oh yes We have been out there Its so big it looks like you can touch it! ::)
Quit raining. It's been raining all day.
Too foggy, darn it!!!
Capt Marga
Yeah, it's raining here so I haven't been able to see it. :(
We saw it on our way home tonight; much oohing and aaahing. The wisp of cloud across its face created a lovely scene.
I love the Wolfe Wolf Moon. ;D
It certainly is big and bright! And chasing right along behind Orion...
It's crystal clear here, a perfect night to be outside the city, in an oak grove, dancing around a really big fire! LOL
(and it's Saturday, also... why am I not doing this??)

Wearing your woolen robes, I hope, since it's around freezing here...
Brrrrr.....
No prancing 'round pentacles in the nuddy tonight!!!
Capt. Marga
Oh, I don't know... if the fire were big enough, or I had a partner, maybe!!! LOL
It's in the high 30's tonight here, not cold enough to actually lose anything...
She was gorgeous last night. All regal wearing her cloud robes, in her starry kingdom.
Clear skies, 2 degrees below zero, lots of stars out, and a beautiful moon last night! Thanks for posting it, I hadn't known, but made sure to take a look.
Down here it was big and bright with a perfect large halo around it.
Perfect.
This weekend's full Moon is the biggest and brightest of 2009. It's a "perigee Moon" as much as 50,000 km closer to Earth than other full Moons we'll see later this year. Perigee moonlight shining through icy winter air can produce beautiful halos, coronas, moondogs and other atmospheric optics phenomena.
We grilled out last night and watched the moon rise over the Jordan Lake Dam (here in NC)....a giant orb slipping in and out of the cloud bands. Amazing! The next two nights are still wonderful opportunities to reap all the benefits of her fullness!
Snow Moon, Cold Moon, Quiet Moon abide,
Let protection and strength grow inside,
Inanna, Sarasvati, Hera and Sinn,
Sew new beginnings deep within.
--Dallas Jennifer Cobb
I did see it and it was magnificent, though I wasn't aware it was perigee. Quite lovely all the same!
Ain't nothing like the sky to dose a potion...

I wish there was a YouTube of either the composer (Dar Williams) or Richard Shindell doing this song, but there's not, unfortunately...
The moon wanted more of my night
I turned off the engine and the headlights
The trees appeared as they'd never been gone
I promised the fields I'd return from now on
And the moon kept on rising
I had no more to say
I put my roadmaps away
And surrendered the day
And I know you'll be calling me soon
And if I don't answer I'm calling the moon
Calling the moon
I was calling her then
I'm wondering will she take me again
Oh, I am calling the moon
When I called the moon back to me
I thought she wanted my beauty
I shone in the best that vanity buys
I covered the path where my life turned to lies
And the moon kept on rising
But I felt nothing at all
She comes when the empire falls
And shines on crumbling walls
Calling the moon
By the name that she chose
As Tennessee wandered in moth-eaten robes
Oh, I am calling the moon
Calling the moon
Oh I'm calling the moon
Oh, make sense of me, night
I can see so much from this cold height
The moon said oh darkness my work is done
I've poured this bottle of light from the sun
But their anger keeps on rising
And they don't understand
I've shown them all that I can
That the world is at hand
And I know they'll be calling me soon
And if I don't answer I'm only the moon
I can see by her light
This one's going out to the moon tonight
Oh, I am calling the moon
Calling the moon
'Cause I know what it's worth
To tug at the seas and illumine the earth
Oh, I am calling the moon
Oh, I am calling the moon
It's come up now, casting a pale yellow-white light across the snow. Absolutely beautiful.
I need to sing to her tonight... and let go of these things that oppress me, so I can move into the future that awaits me!

*sigh* Does this evoke a much easier and less complicated time to anyone else or is it just me?
Nope, Wenchie!
Can't believe no one's posted a picture yet....I took this one tonight, since I didn't have the opportunity last night.

It was big and full tonight, and as I was coming home on a back road I turned of my lights just to see if I could and I was able to drive just by moon light. The light of the moon was that bright, but I was more scarded of hitting a dear than I was of crashing, so the lights came back on and on bright and low and behold there were two of them on the side of the road. But it was fun any way.
WOW!!! Did I ever let go!!! ROFL Sometimes I am so taken by surprised by my response to the full moon, especially when she delivers exactly what I ask for, and so swiftly!
It's all you Rani, you just know how to harness the energy...... :)
Awesome picture DB!
