Arizona Renaissance Festival is the largest First Faire of the year...every year.
I love AZRF because:
We are honoured to receive the great Renaissance Performers first and we have the best weather.
Please continue with your own thoughts, recollections and opinions my fine faire friends......
Let's see,
It's not just the fact that we are first in the faire season.
We get to see the new ideas from performers and vendors first.
We get to be the first to welcome the new year, faire style.
And we get to start our new year with our faire to compare with everyone elses.
Marcos
This actually came up recently in a discussion with a group of performers . . . being the first faire of the season means we get the performers (and patrons!) who are eager to be there, well rested and full of fresh new ideas and enthusiasm. ;D
We get to start the yearly fun before anyone else does? I don't mean in a snarky way, but........................NANNY NANNY BOO BOO!!!!!!

Lord Fig,
Be nice now, we have to be considerate of our brothers and sisters, freezing their nunnies off back in the land of snow and ice. Send them a nice picture of the lack of snow here.

Well I did say it wasn't meant in a snarky way. I do feel very sorry for them. I know what they are going through and I hope it ends really soon for them.
I can't even read the northern (or east or mid-west) Faire threads because I start to get cold.
It always reinforces to me why I live here now.
Yes the weather is wonderful here for our Faire and why we want so many of our far north friends to come visit and thaw out at least for a weekend. :)

I think you gave yet one more reason to why it's a great fest to come to Julianne. It affords the great masses of the North-East-Mid West bunch to come and THAW OUT for a bit, and be reminded of what it feels like to be in such beautiful weather.
Lord Fig
I was kidding actually, but good onya for considering our brothers and sisters freezing their nunnies off!

It's that little round thingy prominately proped upon your horns monsieur...at least that's where I found mine ;)
Ah first faire of the year... Time to take my lovely wife out and show her off to the admiring crowds. Now that is a good memory!
first faire of the season, I like the fact that we have a 3 day weekend, and draw in all those folks from up north jonesin for their next fair fix so many wonderful people come to visit us
Now, now, now... if it weren't for cold winters up here I would never find time to sew. It really is the best time to do it as I hate to be outside when the temps are negative before the windchill. And besides... when I have snow piled up to my hips its not like I could do any outdoor activities anyway.
And it does give us reason to come visit you all and as you say "thaw out" a bit. I just told my congregation that I want to be like half my members and go somewhere warm when it gets cold up here. They all laughed and asked if it was considered a business trip if I saw any of the members who are now residing in warmer climes.
Not being a "religious" person and probably much poorer the typical christian....GracefulCarrie is the one person that I could truly and confidently most publicly declare my spiritual advisor.
So that means yes...dear cousin...you may consider your trip to AZRF a "business" trip. Cause I needs serious saving.
;D
I'm not a really religious person myself, but I'll be an impromptu member of your congregation, if that's all you need to make it a business trip. So come on down and minister to me. I need prayers too gracefulcarrie.
I think last year I titled this thread "Bragging Rights"
The same sentiments hold true.
As much as I dearly love the other Faires I visit (bestest MNRF!!!) I dearly loooove my home faire.
so here it goes ..ahem
*sound to lilted snotty voice* :D
Weeee arrrre havvvving Faaaaire soooooon....you are still freezing....it's waaarm heeeere and weee haaaave faaairrrre.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Come visit us soon.
;)
Why am I hearing that to the sounds of, nanny nanny boo boo????
I'm sitting up here in the frozen Tundra of MN and can't wait to get back home to the warmth of AZ!!!! We are having a heat wave today....it's going to be 32!!!!!!!
Hmmm Graceful Carrie and her new husband to come play at our faire very soon! My wife says I have to be on my best behavior.
define "best behavior" :-X

Best Behavior = it's all fun and games till someone puts an eye out. Play nice, keeps your mates bribed with beer, have fun and no regrets.
Or, get ready to carry here parcels again!
Marcos

Would Sunday work better for everyone for a group pic?
That's Sunday February 15th....
If I can I'd vote for Sunday as well, we have to leave that night and won't be making it on Monday.

No, I wish! Sad....I thought I had the day off from school (it being a holiday and all, my brother has it off and so does my mom from work) but I still have classes, and one of them is important enough that I really can't miss it. So we're leaving on Sunday night stead of Monday afternoon like we had originally planned. :(

All I have to do is stay married and the whole gray thing will happen on it's own!
Marcos
Hey now....
Comments like that will render you gray and dead Marcos :P
Jules
She would never kill me, there would be no one to step on bugs and get things off the top shelf in the kitchen. ;D
As for the gray thing, she likes it, says it makes me look distingushed. Of course I have always said I want to shave my
beard off, but she says I look like the guy who drives the van or the one who lures the kids in the back when I am clean shaven.

Oh we will definitely be in town by 6, now the trouble is getting the 'rents back out of the hotel once we get there! Haha. Thanks all, will do...they're calling for some light snow through Colorado tonight but I'm thinking we'll miss most of it.

We're staying in Goodyear, which is really the only reason we *wouldn't* come, because it's about 40 minutes' drive away from the restaurant.

Comte
That's the problem, my indescretions are just about once an hour.
Marcos
You, dear indescretionist sir, would be well advised to wear beer gogles.
That would be four eyes for the price of two. Yet by mid afternoon, you'd be nearly unsighted!
*I'll ermember t' bring a pair o' Ace Pear Cider gogles meself, 'specially if'n I be partak'n in any mudslide drinkin' games wit fashionable Frenchmen!*

Would not work, I just don't know when to quit when I get on a roll.
