I found this documentary about "Rennies" on Youtube recently.

It has two parts and runs about 18 minutes.

I almost think i remember hearing something about it last year for some reason,
looked wet enough when they showed shots during the faire. Credits said 2009.

I thought I saw Don Juan and Miguel performing on the chess board stage next to the joust arena.  I didn't recognize most of the actors who were interviewed so maybe it was before 2007 (my first year)?

Was Doug (Miguel) an artistic director for multiple years?  I noticed he referred to himself as that in his interview.

If it was filmed in 2008 I assume they would have talked to Doug Waterbury.

CB

Hi Everyone...This 'mini-documentary' was made in 1999Yes, 1999!!!   We know this for a fact, because we are in it, and it was taken before we were married.  Why it is just now making the rounds we don't know.

WOW 1999, wonder what the delay was, it was just posted on youtube by the creator a week ago.
Must be an old project he finally got back to.

Thanks KnightnLady.

OK!!!!!! This was bugging me! I went through tons, and I mean TONS, of pictures from the faire.......over the last 20 years. I really did think it was 5 years ago....but now I see, it has to be about 8 to 9 years ago.
So the time frame is around 1999 to 2000.
Sorry!! {Maybe I didn't want to feel older....who knows.... :P....lol!}

This was shot in 2000 or 2001 as I recall. It isn't earlier because my exwife is not in my armoury while i'm being interviewed or during any of the shots of my shoppe and we separated after the 1999 season. Also the large fella with the glasses by our maille rack did not come to work for us until 2000. Its not later than 2001, Joel stopped ridding for New Riders of The Golden Age after the 2001 season.

CaliforniaCaledonian has replied to your comment on Rennies (part II):

Thanks so much. I shot it during 2000 season. Quite some time ago, but better late than never I suppose!

Hey Cobaltblu, do you mind if I move this to the new Video are of the forums?  I'm sure more people would enjoy these videos if they were in a more visible area.   :)

Thanks for posting this Cobaltblu !  I posted it on the Festival Friends myspace (hope you don't mind).

It looked older to me too than late 90's early 00's.

Regarding the questions about Doug (Miguel) being artistic director:
He's been an assistant for many years. He teaches songs, writes scripted acts, directs, coaches, etc...

He's awesome, in short.  ;)

In case you liked that I also found this 1987 or 1988 news clip on youtube which was filmed at Sterling (the poster said it was filmed in 87 or 88).  It isn't related to the rennies documentary of course.

Wow, CB! That brought back some memories! I sent the link off to some who were actors, about that time frame.
The landscape has surely changed, hasn't it? We started going about then, maybe a year or two before hand. It is amazing!
Thanks for sharing!!!
