My companion Boats wants to buy a scooter too; as we only have one car between us. He's eyeing one that can go 150 or more so in case he needs to go onto the freeway to get to/from work if the surface streets are clogged.
I have a friend that used to ride a scooter. He's back in a car now and his legs are recovering well. You CANNOT BE TOO CAREFUL on a scooter. You are small and quiet and cannot trust that others will see or even look for you. His second and final accident on the scooter was just pulling out of the bank drive through. Oily patch from all the 4 wheeled vehicles caused his tire to slide out from under him.

Maybe you can get a loud muffler mod or something...
Remember when driving any two wheeled vehicle you are condidered invisible by anyone in a cage(Car)
