Title: Project 365
Post by: Manwariel on February 09, 2009, 06:26:20 PM
How many of you are doing Project 365? If you don't know what it is - it's a challenge to take a photo every day of the year and put it somewhere such as a blog. I post mine here: http://manwariel365.wordpress.com/

I have one. DB has one. And Tammy is thinking about starting one. Anyone else? We can support each other.

I added your 365 to my blogroll.  Do you know the people from your Other 365 list?

I also have photography links. Photo Jojo (http://photojojo.com/content/diy/diy-film-container-flash-diffuser/) has great tips including how to make a cheap diffuser for your pop-up flash.

Thank you. I added yours to mine. Yes, they're all friends of mine from another forum.

Give me a few more weeks and I'll be in. I'm working on upgrading my Canon Rebel 35mm to a Canon Rebel digital. I just can't warm up to shooting film anymore. The film to disk processing thing is killing me.

40 days so far...

DB's Photo a Day Blog (http://db-a-day.livejournal.com/)

I don't plan on stopping after the year is up.  Going to see how long I can go without missing a beat.

I'm totally the opposite Anna!! I MISS film! My dad bought me a Canon Rebel film years ago, and I've used the heck out of it!! I have a digital...but it's more of a point and shoot, so it's just not as much fun to me!! My dad has some nicer expensive digitals that I'll be "borrowing"  ::) ;) for my 365 project.
As soon as I start a blog/journal I'll post the link here. I'm gonna start on the 13th, but might not get any uploaded for a few days...gonna be a busy weekend (not because of valentine's).

You don't have to post everyday. I know there will  be days when I won't be able to post. But I'll  take the photos everyday.

Any suggestions on what site would be good to start my blog?
Like wordpress, livejournal, blogspot??

for my 365 I use wordpress. It set up so anyone can see it, but to comment they have to enter an email. And comments have to be approved.  I like the tagging system better than LJs.

I've added your link.

to change your time you have to edit your settings.
From your Dashboard look for the settings link. click it.  about midway down the page is the time zone setting.  use the drop drop menu to  adjust to your time zone.

I have a friend who is a professional photog (several actually), well this one took this a step further and only allowed ONE picture a day for one year.  One shot...no re-do.  This was back in the day of film only, no digital.  Of course this was before he relied on photography for his sole income.  Got the idea from a book and decided to try it himself...yikes.

Was the book in question Jim Brandenburg's "Chased by the Light"?

Yep, I believe that was the one.  Hell of a book, serious work.

I just went to see Michael Monroe who performs the music for the show Jim Brandenburg did highlighting his photography.    Monroe uses special guitars and a synth/loop type machine to create almost haunting melodies.  I've seen him several times.  Always great.  He also does weekly jam sessions in his home up north.  Quite an impressive man.

I guess I'm out of the project. For now anyway, until I can figure out how to start a diary without the digital ease. I did take my 35mm out this weekend and what a joy is was to shoot with her again! Until I figure how to afford the digital I want I'll keep shooting film.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying all the diaries. :)

Oh...I have a wonderful film camera that I miss using!! I feel sorta guilty that it just sits in my closet now!! It's a Canon Rebel X, dad got it for me several years ago for a birthday gift. I'm thinking about digging it back out and using it again....it's just more difficult to get film developed now!

Don't feel bad, my own dad told me my pictures need to be more artistic! It's just hard to find an interesting subject when I'm looking at the same thing all day long!!!!

I forgot a lot early in my project. The weather was bad. It was dark when I got off work, I'd sit down for a bit and realize I need to shoot. It took about a month before it became a habit,

Most of my days I'm trying to be creative since I have to shoot "in studio", i.e., my basement, but I'm still managing to get at least one photo per day.  I wish I could get regular 9-5 work days so I could have some real free time to be out and about in the world taking pics...

Haven't missed a day yet! All the photos I took yesterday were quite crappy, so I'll just have to post one of those, but I already took my one for today and I like it. :)

I hope everyone can continue with those!  My problem is not that I don't take the photos (because I take them all the time) but I don't have the time nor 7-day computer access to post stuff.

nice work all!

It's more about using your camera everyday. Everyday use will train you to look for subjects you might other wise miss.
The blog part is for feedback and  support.  It's not  necessary to upload everyday it just keeps you from having to do a lot at once.
